Its just a game where you control (not) a cat. You go from point a to point b, combining stuff, solving puzzles, talking to NPC's... Its just a game that makes you feel akin if you knew Niko for a while. Its just a game...
But if its just a game...
Why does the emptiness after the credits roll feel real?

I have never had a game make me feel so moved, so happy and yet so sad at the same time. Words aren't enough to describe how good this game is. It's a once in a life time experience that you won't find anywhere else.
A lot of people compare this game to TobFox's works So let me say this real quick: THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT! Oneshot is a lot more focused on the story instead of gameplay, you won't have fights or anything like that.
I won't say too much about the game itself. You have to play it blind, without watching any videos about it for the best experience. But it has some very interesting mechanics, charming characters and a universe filled with personality.
TIP FOR NEW PLAYERS: If you use wallpaper engine, please turn it off when playing OneShot. It might cause an issue with one of the puzzles.

For less than 10 euros, I got one of the best games in my entire library.
In OneShot, you guide Niko, the small cat through a strange world to fulfill your mission.
You do this not only through really cool and clever puzzles, but also accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack and a touching story.
The puzzles are challenging but always fair and enjoyable. The characters are well written, and the conversations are consistently unique.
With a truly emotional ending, this game managed to become one of my all-time favorites.
It takes about 6 to 7 hours to complete and only costs 10 euros, definitely worth a try.
And don’t forget: you only get ONE SHOT. ♥

An exceptionally atmospheric puzzle game, if a bit of a walking simulator at times

I haven't played any games that are meant to make you cry but this is the only game that has and probably ever will make me cry. I went into this not expecting much because this isn't usually the kind of game that I enjoy, but damn this shit was peak as fuck. The puzzles were really interesting and unique and I highly recommend playing.

I love this game i really do. But strongly go against buying this game if you are on Linux. The game was built for windows operating systems in mind. You can brute force your way through half the game using Wine and Bottles to open .exe files that can't be accessed on Linux but at some point those systems fail and you hit a brick wall that you can't bypass without changing the games code. This happened to me when I got to the tower and the game wanted me to open that clover file whilst playing the game, I ran the file through Wine and it opened but the game didn't recognise that it was open so it just closed again. I don't blame anyone expect the developers for this over sight. They could have just added a skip button that bypassed those scripted scenes but alas the game is unplayable on Linux.

Really good story with simple but cool puzzles and an interesting dilemma. The general vibe of its story and direction reminds me of Undertale with its style of questioning the choices of the player in relation to a digital world. I highly recommend to anyone who likes these kind of games as it's probably one of my favorites.

This game is one of the best games i have ever played. it has one of the best stories, artwork and direction, puzzles, and characters. There is so much world building and small interactions that give the world so much life and detail in this game and i absolutely love it. i am planning on making a video essay for this game because of how amazing it is. The several endings the game has are just peak. the choices you need to make, and the way you make it to the endings. Thanks to the developers for making this absolute MASTERPIECE. If you want to play the game if you are seeing this DO NOT look up anything on the game as it is best played without knowing anything of the game. If you have played the game then you know what i mean. I wish the best for all of the developers and i hope you make some more games.
Thank you, Oneshot Dev Team

One of the best and most heartfelt games I’ve ever played. The game is simply excellent in every way. It’s a pity I won’t be able to experience those emotions from playing it for the first time again. In any case, I highly recommend this game to everyone.

i really like the game personally, although i feel like for the amount of time your getting from the game, it would be better to buy the game during a sale.
ANYHOO! i am personally a fan of narrative games. i got attached to niko imediatly, and may or may not of cried! yes i know, pathetic (not really, alot of people cry).
although some of the charactera could of had more world building, alot of the characters are loveable!
i really like the whole, "we are gunna use YOUR computer for puzzles". the film puzzle where you have to put the window out of view of your moniter was the most creative.
anyhoo thats my review :P

I bought this game a long time ago after watching Markiplier playing it. Unfortunately i procrastinated on it for a few years. Recently i finally got around to playing it.
While it only took me 6 hours to complete and the gameplay was simplistic and the puzzles not terribly challenging, the story was incredible emotionally speaking.
For reasons i can not easily explain or understand in myself, the character writing for Niko and the random NPCs littered around the game reached my emotions in a way that games scarely ever do.
If anyone happens upon this review that hasn't played the game, it's a strong reccomendation from me as one of the most emotionally impactful, solemn and heartfelt games i have played in a very long time.

It's certainly an experience worth remembering.
Normally, I would go more into details regarding the game itself but frankly everything should become clear once you try it out.
Even if you may not be big puzzle game enthusiast, you would be surprised easy to grasp the core gameplay is.
As for the score it would be
10/10
as you may expected.
I don't know if mine is the first review you read but just in case I would recommend reading too many of those in case of spoilers.
Regardless of your preferences, there is a good chance you will get something out of this neat game. :)

Well that was a lot of fun i just wished there was a part 2 so i could see Niko again. Getting all of the endings was fun mainly the Sol. ending. I would recomend to play this game trully i just wish there was more and more Miko is an amazing character sad that u can´t interact with her more. Great 4th wall breaking puzzles that was fun wish i could experience it blindly again tho:( (btw this game was so good i will be OBSESSED with it for the next month) (another btw the achievments are kinda hard to get because u need atleast 2 playthroughs if u wish to go blindly (which u must or me sad) + one for Sol. ending)

I have watched hundreds of hours of OneShot. Nothing even comes close to finally being able to play it myself, being able to experience this. From the very first moment I watched a play through, to the very last second of playing this game I have told everyone that this is my favorite game. No game has made me cry. No game has made me feel for the characters. Thank you developers. Thank you Niko. Thank you.

An absolutely beautiful game.
From a gameplay perspective, it's rather simple: find objects, perhaps combine them together, and use hints around the world to make your way. Sometimes, though, it'll require you to think outside the box-- literally. Overall, while a bit frustrating at times, I thought it was some good fun.
Narratively, however, is where the game truly steps out to shine. This game is perhaps one of the nicest versions of a fourth wall break I have seen: it doesn't try to scare you (for the most part), or make you feel bad. Instead, it's as if you're a part of these characters' lives, which is a very unique take on the fourth wall break trope that I don't see very often. The game is also quite optimistic and sunny, and turns the inclusion of you (the player) into a vehicle to give some of the most uplifting commentary on existentialism ever. Remember: though the game might tell you one thing, never, ever give up until all options are exhausted. Everyone deserves a happy ending, even if they don't think it so.
Overall, a solid 9/10. I strongly recommend giving this game a try.

this game tells a really cool story that had me actually paying attention to dialogue. as i closed the game at the end of the story i was left with the same feeling you have when you walk out of a theater after a good movie. the puzzles were pretty interesting as well. took me 10 hours to 100% the game; i felt that this game deserved a 100% completion from me.

It made me too attached, I do not feel the Same. This game is quite emOtionaL, the ending is SpecTacular. It has one of the best stories I have ever seen. Hands down one of the best games and I should've never doubted It. It is Crazy Emotional made me want to see Niko one last time.

I loved the game on all aspects im not someone who plays puzzle games really often or that the gamplay is only focused on puzzles, the mecanics of having to open some folders outside the game kinda remembers to doki doki making it really unexpected while playing the game without knowing it. the story is absolute crucial to love the game it was really important specially in the end that will make you think and not be sure about what to do. i loved the game its a really good recomendation to any friend who likes a good story and that makes them think 10/10

When I started this game for the first time, I had no idea what to expect. But by the time I finally completed the game, I knew that my life was never going to be the same again.
OneShot does a great job at making us feel connected to the main protagonist of the game, and I didn't realize how much I would end up missing this world and especially Niko until I had to say goodbye. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I've enjoyed every second I've spent playing the game.
If you enjoy story rich games that makes you feel emotional, then I highly recommend giving OneShot a try.

I really enjoyed this game! The player-main character interaction was especially refreshing after experiencing Deltarune chapters 1-4. There were a lot of unique and interesting characters/landscapes. Definitely worth it imo, unless you cant stand slow gameplay.

Decided to play after learning about it from indie cross and i have to say i haven't seen any other game with a premise quite like this. The gameplay is pretty straightforward you walk around pick up stuff combine said stuff and talk to npcs but the story is something you need to experience as blind as possible. So ye play it
multiple endings and you'll be sad after all of them
This is the best first experience of novel game. I've wished I could save the world, but seeing Niko without his/her family make my option conflicted. Niko it's just a mere kid, who got sent to the world. Not knowing anything about the world. And immediately got tasked to save the world, Telling us stories in his/her dream after waking up to us, because there's no one really close to him/her. Even thought we player just met Niko for a period of time. the game shows us how Niko missed us at the pre-ending scene, shouting our name just to make sure that we were always there for Niko. Not to mention the other option "Return home" make you conflicted too. Where you find people that were kind and light hearted and some who doesn't seem to care that Niko saving that world, which make Niko conflicted in him/her mind. The story and the worldbuilding is such a masterpiece, the mechanic was absolutely creative, and I couldn't forget the humour itself. 10/10

Finished New Game+. The writing and dialogue for Niko and the other characters is rlly good!! OST, sounds, and the artwork is great as well!! The puzzles are also very creative as it plays with real parts of your PC to solve it. The ending made me tear up a bit.
It's occasionally scary at a few parts (hence the Psychological Horror tag on the game) but there's no jump scares or any disturbing imagery
Nothing bad to say except the occasional backtracking, but that's because I am not smart at puzzles. If you can remember the map well and are smarter at puzzles it could take less than 5 hours to finish all of the content.
9/10 game. Didn't expect to like it this much!!!!

I will never be able to play Undertale for the first time again (unless I fall down and get a major concussion), so playing a game that has a strong vibe and identity that reminds me of the storytelling of Undertale yet being it's own unique experience, made for something I'm glad I played.
The overall narrative and story is great and unveiling, and the lack of a checklist or waypoint system really makes you pay attention to what's happening. The meta element of this game does make you think outside of the box quite a bit and those puzzles were creative as heck.
I liked the story. Not very complex characters, in fact, extremely simple characters. But it's the problems they face and how they overcome them that makes this story engaging. Plus there is a high level of likability amongst the cast. Niko is the protagonist here and their child-like attitude to everything was cute, making the experience and choices you make quite difficult knowing how they may effect Niko
If I have one quam, it's that there are paragraphs of lore drops near the end that I would have liked to be revealed a little more naturally.
I'm glad the developer has gotten a lot of love and I will be 100% on the lookout for whatever they create next.

If I could buy this game twice, heck three times I would. This is genuinely one of the most amazing, adorable, yet saddening games (at least to me) ever. Maybe I'm just too simple, but all I can say is? Any game that can even make me CONSIDER removing Halo 2 from my #1 game spot is deserving of all the praise I can give it.

One of the BEST games i have ever played! The story is peak everything about it is peak. Spoiler btw
The soliste route has one of the best endings oat the only downside of it is the fact its your very "LastShot" as thats the true ending and you cant play ever again (unless you restart the game, but theres not much reason to do that other than just to do another ending or smt)
anyways i would reccomend this game to anyone. pancake/10 imo.

Actually amazing story, beautiful, don't typically enjoy games like this, but despite the slow and friendly gameplay, the story is so compelling that anyone can enjoy this game. Cinema
As for linux support:
It does technically support linux, but the prepackaged shared object files for libraries that you probably already have like librt and such are very old and will cause the game to instantly crash, the game should also only be ran in floating window managers like KDE and GNOME with a compositor running, it did work in i3, but certain parts (NO SPOILERS) did require some window fanagling which I assume would work better on a normal DE.
Advice would be to run steam and the game in a terminal just such that if a crash does occur you can see what .so did it and you can delete it (don't delete your actual system libraries though, obviously)
Here's to hoping that the developer resolves these issues since this is one of my favourite games now, or just get the world machine edition even if not on steam deck.

10/10 A great game for people who love intriguing stories and 2D pixel-art. The story is phenomenal and holds a special place in my heart. The music and visuals of the game are really awesome. The gameplay isn't a main focus for why I like the game. Though, it definitely adds to the game, as I'm not sure I'd feel the same way I do if the game didn't have gameplay. (If there were no inventory basically) It's not a super complex game mechanic system, it's simple, but does it's job well to immerse you in the world.

OneShot is the first game to make me violently cry at the ending and it will be for as long as i can remember. the gameplay makes you feel bad for what you do at the end regardless of what ending you decide to choose and its just such a good game with messing with the player and its just a very good psychological game that it will just make you cry at the end even if you choose the easier ending to deal with in the end it will always end with someone sad.

I remember watching this little indie gem back in 2017, and I have to say that playing it many years later really moved me.
I really enjoyed Niko's adventure, every interaction that breaks the fourth wall makes you more involved in what someone will think when they hear about this game for the first time (I mean, hears about it in short).
I can say that these hours spent with Niko on his mission moved me more than once!
I think people should try this little masterpiece, both for the cute little Niko, for the adventure the game offers, for the characters, and for some events or puzzles to solve!
