This is a great game that anyone can enjoy. It does not matter if you are a Star Wars fan or not — you can definitely enjoy the game. When I first started the game, I had zero knowledge of the Star Wars universe and had never watched any movies. But this game is the reason why I am a Star Wars fan now. DO NOT WORRY — the game will explain the basic plot and lore about the Star Wars universe, which is enough to understand the game's story. Or you can learn more from either watching movies or reviews (please don't just watch the movies).
We play as Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan (a student) who survived Order 66 (a secret command issued by the Emperor to kill all Jedi). He’s been hiding from the Empire ever since. He has trauma and guilt from the purge, and he’s hiding his Jedi powers to stay safe. Due to Cal's trauma, he doesn’t remember much of the training he received as a student. We meet Cere (a former Jedi) and Greez (a pilot), and go on a mission to find something
that can save Force-sensitive children across the galaxy — children who may become Jedi one day
. The Force is an energy field that gives Jedi and Sith their power.
You have to be calm like a Jedi and DO NOT panic. Every enemy has a Health Bar and a Stamina Bar. Every successful parry can significantly damage the stamina bar. When enemies still have stamina, they can parry or block your attacks. Once stamina is broken, they are vulnerable to full damage. Boss fights, elite enemies, and certain creatures will test your timing and patience, but they are very rewarding once you understand their patterns. You also unlock Force powers and lightsaber upgrades as you progress, giving you more options in combat.
There are a few planets you can visit and explore. Every planet has a considerably large map that can’t be fully explored until you unlock some abilities like Force Pull/ Push, Double Jump, and Wall run. You can come back later with new powers to access new areas and secrets. Do you HAVE TO FARM ENEMIES??? - NO, but I did it because I didn’t know that just exploring and gathering Force echoes gives enough XP to unlock skills naturally.
The map has a few places where you can meditate. By meditating, you can use the skill tree. Every skill is useful, but as a beginner, try to unlock the skills that give you more health and more Force.
Fallen Order is a very good game. The gameplay, story, music, and characters are all done with great care and quality. This is a 10/10 game for me — and it’s the game that made me fall in love with Star Wars.

I liked the graphics, story driven gameplay and specially hair physics. What I don't like is there's no fast travel, map isn't easy to understand and you have explore same places again and again without hints. Still game has many good things I didn't mention, I highly recommend it to play, you could also try its sequel, it has fixed all the cons I mentioned.

For a game released in 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in my opinion is a big net waste of a gamer's time. I've played many RPG games and many souls-like. Games like these usually have a fun combat system, or a compelling story-line to follow. This game has none of those. On top of horrible map design, the game's "Replayability factor" comes from you having to go do the main story mission and then having to revisit places you already went to, to unlock secrets. I've already slugged through the horrible map once, and during that time I had to see locked paths or chests that I was unable to get due to not having a specific upgrade. If the maps were enjoyable and laid out in a way that isn't repeating and in favor of progression, then this mechanic would be fine. However it's not like that at all. You character never gets "Stronger" you always do the same damage to the same enemies you see all the time, you just get different ways to do that damage. In conclusion, this game has zero respect for your time due to POOR COMBAT, POOR MAP DESIGN, AND POOR CORE EXPLORATION MECHANICS. Get it on sale like I did, and maybe then it's worth the 10 dollars you paid for it.

Honestly, I'm not even a reviewer but this game pissed me off so bad I feel like I should write a review.
Good things about the game?
I guess for a low-spec PC like mine to run it at 60fps on epic settings means the game is pretty well optimized, also, the game looks very good. I guess the combat is okay? Feels fun at the start of the game. The intro is the best thing about the game but it falls off HARD. BD-1 is cute.
Bad things:
I have 8 hours recorded and 7 hours of them I've spent running through Crash Bandicoot ass puzzles and environmental hazards, only to fight 2 stormtroopers that dies in 2 hits. Hey, I've played Death Stranding and even walking and doing nothing on that game felt more rewarding than playing this game as intended.
Why make the map so big with these "little secrets" and alternate passageways if 90% of the time, i'm not gonna be able to progress them? I always need a skill that I won't even unlock until I'm on another planet, hours later, thinking about other things, progressing the "main" objective. Which is funny to call it the "main" objective, cause there isn't a secondary one, unless you count opening random boxes and a secondary quest.
Okay, so let's say I did unlock a skill needed to go through this alternative way, 5 hours later than when it was discovered: I waste 15 minutes if not more just to get to the location, to go through and open up a box, and be rewarded with like, a paint job for the ship and if I'm lucky, a dumb-ass dialogue that Cal will say after touching the air over some broken vase. Like what? The reward was so ass compared to the amount of effort to get it, and then, if theres not a shortcut for me to unlock, I will have to walk back that 15 minute path AGAIN.
The level design is so mediocre (to not say bad) that it feels like a lego game design but way worse, it just keeps breaking the immersion on how "videogamey" it feels. Honestly, the worst part about the game for me, It's a 3D Metroidvania that feels punishing instead of rewarding to go back. I will pray for all the completionists that will play this game.
Movement is clunky, too much climbing, enemies are braindead if not played at the highest difficulty. The map menu is trash.
About the story: boring and forgettable, don't care about any of the characters, corny as hell (can't expect much from star wars but cmon), hell, even Saw Gerrera feels completely different from the Saw in other medias, so why even put him in here? Maybe they explain it later but the story didn't make it interesting enough.
Also, going back to the actual gameplay part that relates to the story, why put so many of these "echoes" if they add virtually nothing? It pops up as an annoying notification to say that it was added to the database, only for the text to be the same thing Cal said when picked up, just worded differently.
I guess the database is not that useless because it shows the enemies weakness and strategy to kill it, but guess what? You only get that AFTER killing them, so you already know the strategy. I guess it's useful if you have short-term memory problems and forgot how to fight that enemy.
It baffles me that people will go and say this game is good, I think that if I play KOTOR blindfolded it will be more fun.
I feel like as a BIG Star Wars fan, I shouldn't have disliked it this much, but I guess its a perfect representation on what Star Wars is nowadays: generic and feels rushed.
This was very cheap for me, I guess its worth it if you get it on sale? I don't know, it cost me as much as McDonald's fries and I would have rather gotten the fries.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's visuals are impressive, with smooth performance throughout, even on ultra epic settings. Combat feels satisfying, and gets better as you unlock more skills and abilities. Taking down different types of enemies with new moves adds depth and variety to each fight.
The story is decent. It does the job, but it won’t leave a lasting impression, probably. You can also unlock customisations across the map for your lightsaber, outfit, and ship. Personally, I chose to keep the default look.
That said, the map design is in utter shambles. It’s one of the most confusing I’ve seen in a game, and that's an understatement. I had to look up guides on YouTube far too many times just to figure out where to go. Navigation becomes more of a chore which kinda discouraged me from exploring since in a lot of areas you can't go back from where you came. If you're not used to Soulslike combat or tough gameplay, this might not be for you (even on the lowest difficulty)
There are also spots where you can get semi-softlocked, which forces you to reload from a save/meditation point. The puzzles vary in quality. Some are okay, but others feel like filler and frustrating. Replay value is low, since post-game is mostly backtracking through the same confusing areas while dealing with this braindead “Return to the Mantis” tasks.
Overall, the core gameplay is enjoyable. I finished the main story in about 12 hours and didn’t feel the need to explore everything. It’s not a must-play, but it’s a good experience if you’re a fan of difficult action games or Star Wars. Also, BD-1 is a great companion and easily one of the best parts of the game, making the bad puzzle sections much more bearable.
Final Score: 7/10
(+1 for BD-1 being cute)

One of my favortie Star Wars game of all time.
It has not been without its issues. But for the most part, especially where it count the most (story-telling), it delivers dearly. Gameplay is quite good, though its pacing on PC has been a bit irregular, but not nearly as bad as it was the case with the sequel.
A solid experience if you like action-adventure games with souls-like mechanics with some solid platforming neatly thrown into the mix.
Heavy on lore, though it is not needed for anyone to be a SW geek.
In it's current state is quite a good game on PC.

This game has a very slow story at the start.. But, Stick with it.. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order turns into a great single player game. The story, gameplay & boss fights are just so much fun to play through. It's short & doesn't seem to over stay it's welcome.
I completed the game within 12 hours on a blind play through, Which is fine. A game doesn't need to be 30+ hours long to be worth playing. It's a short & amazing story well worth giving a shot IF you're a fan of Star Wars. I will be starting a play through of the 2nd game now.. I will say wait for a Steam sale or something to get this BUT, Don't miss out on playing this. It's awesome.

Great game, but...
I've been into the Star Wars universe since I was like 8 years old. (Thanks, Dad.)
When Star Wars Outlaws was announced and launched, I was super excited for it.
But since my hardware can't run it — and it doesn’t seem to be the game I hoped it would be — I stumbled across Jedi: Fallen Order instead.
To be honest, I didn’t have it on my radar. But it’s such a great game!
I love the story, I love the characters, I love the environments.
Fallen Order was the first Soulslike I ever played, so the combat was totally new to me.
But I picked up the mechanics pretty quickly. Combined with lots of platforming and a bit of puzzle solving, it was really fun to play and made for an easy entry into this kind of game.
There are four difficulty levels to choose from, and you can even change them in-game.
So whether you're a beginner like me or a more advanced player, there’s definitely a sweet spot for you.
I’d recommend doing a bit of backtracking and looking for secrets before heading into the grand finale.
But that might just be personal preference — I felt better prepared that way.
Sadly, as many other reviews have pointed out, there are some technical issues.
I had several game crashes during my playthrough — some just steps away from save points, or even while loading the save menu.
If you’re not patient with stuff like that, I’d probably stay away from the game.
Personally, I was a bit disappointed by the New Game+ mode.
You only keep the cosmetic items from your previous run, plus a few new ones.
Idk, I was expecting to start over with all abilities unlocked.
All in all, it’s a great game with a few issues.
If you like Star Wars, and if you're looking for a beginner-friendly Soulslike, go for it.
I couldn’t get enough of it.

7/10 – A solid Star Wars adventure worth playing
I really enjoyed this game. The story starts off a bit weak and predictable, and at times it didn’t fully grab me, but it definitely gets better as it goes and ends on a strong note. (I hope the second continues the story and it's even better...)
The combat system is one of the game’s highlights: challenging without being frustrating, and very well balanced. Once you get the hang of parrying and using your abilities, each fight feels rewarding and fair.
The map, on the other hand, wasn’t my favorite part. It can be confusing and unintuitive, especially when backtracking or trying to find the right path. That said, the environments are stunning. The landscapes are beautifully designed and the overall atmosphere pulls you right into the Star Wars universe.
All in all, it’s a solid action-adventure game. Not perfect, but definitely worth playing—especially if you’re into lightsabers and exploration.

I liked the story of the game — it’s above average. The game is also visually charming. However, I’ve played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and I think it represents Jedi Force powers better.
Additionally, this game makes you wander around the map many times if you want to collect all the collectibles, but it doesn’t include a fast travel system. The collectibles could also have more impact on the story, rather than just being cosmetic. If someone isn’t interested in achievements, there’s really no reason to open most of the chests.
The AI can also be quite dumb — if you step slightly out of their territory, their aggression suddenly stops, which breaks the game’s immersion. I also encountered a glitch, and I’ve shared a screenshot of it.

Yes, this is a game from EAs stable, but it is of surprising quality and polish, given their average.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is very similar to Dark Souls (which I never played) in a way that combat can be punishing if you are not prepared for it. Still - learning the basics, when to parry, when to deflect, dodge etc. what Force powers use and when and how… it was all a very fun process! The lightsaber combat is a bit slower and the weapon itself feels heavy, but impactful. Every cut takes a significant chunk of enemy HP, often one-shotting them (save of course, for the bosses) and the ending sequence is just… yeah, it is great!
This is a game every Star Wars fan should play and Cal Kestis may as well fit the shoes of Kayle Katarn as a videogame protagonist of the universe!

I really liked this game. The battles are very spectacular. Unfortunately, I spoiled the plot for myself, so I can't say whether I liked it or not. But in any case, this game is an excellent representative of the Star Wars universe. It's a great choice for fans, especially considering the latest Star Wars series from disney.

It's a cool mix of metroidvania and soulslike in the Star Wars universe. It's not as hard as a soulslike and not as much exploration and backtracking (though there is a fair amount) as a metroidvania though. Most boss fights are cool and the environments are beautiful. Some jumps and one optional boss in particular stands out as poorly designed and there is a fair amount of clipping (lightsabers through cloaks mostly) and at one point where you lose your lightsaber the other end of the dual bladed saber was on through the entire segment. I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs, just minor annoyances.

Mandatory bloatware to install (EA installer).
Non skippable cutscnes.
Already this should make it clear.
Gameplay is non original, between uncharted sequences seen 1000 times and just on par melee combat.
Several bad metrics and false calls: many death are not the player's fault but the designers ones, which create frustration.
Some of the platforming sequence are sligthly ok.
Collectibles are super small part of a lightsaber handle that you never see.

The controls for this game are so stupid. Got soft-locked on Zeffo second tomb puzzle when you have to force pull a lantern and force push it onto some vines to burn them. I couldn't force push the lantern things onto the correct vines because Cal would just push it in the complete opposite direction, instead targeting some other box from across the room. I tried so many times until I got frustrated and gave up. Why not just add a cursor allowing us to target where we want to force push? Or why not let us lock onto an objective target so that we can actually hit it? Why not make the character actually aim towards the camera? If you already know that the mechanics are janky, then why make it integral to completing an objective and progressing in the game? You need a real Jedi's patience to play this.
Also, what's the point of having you spawn at a meditation point every time you launch the game? It makes sense to respawn there if you die, but why make it so that you have to spawn there when you open the game? There were so many times where I made so much progress on a map only to spawn back at the start of the map the next time I play, erasing all my progress. The only purpose that serves is to waste your time. This game only serves to waste your time.

It's not an awful game, but 6 hours in, it's "just okay". Traversal and exploration are fine, and I'm actually impressed with the world-building. There's some pretty cool Star Wars stuff to look at. The writing is good, too. The writing isn't amazing, but the characters mostly make reasonable decisions and say reasonable things. That's good enough for me, in a video game.
But the combat is just meh. It's not very engaging. I can't tell when the game wants me to parry and when it wants me to attack. Obviously you parry when the enemy is attacking and you attack when their guard is down. But after you parry an enemy's attack, are they going to swing again or are they going to let you strike? It's hard to tell.
And then you have these force powers that obviate most enemies' defenses, I guess you just use those when you're sick of parrying? Or when you get bored waiting for the enemy to attack?
Maybe I'm just playing wrong. But as things stand I don't really know how well I'm playing the game. I get through most encounters with minimal damage, but it feels like it takes a while to eliminate even the most basic enemies, and that makes me feel like I could be playing better. But I have no idea really.
In any case, I will keep playing for now. But this isn't one of the better games I have played. Not something I would generally recommend.
UPDATE: I got stuck on a puzzle and quit. I still don't like the combat, it feels like my job is to memorize timings for enemy attack patterns. I'm sorry but I have better things to do with my life. It makes the game feel way too slow.

It's only a "souls-like" in the loosest definition of the term - this is mostly a 3D action platformer/metroidvania with a little sprinkling of souls influence and a heavy reliance on puzzles. I have some beefs with this game, honestly. It relies too heavily on silly puzzle mechanics and not enough on the core lightsaber combat experience, and the level design and enemy placement can be very gamey and annoying.
But it's a great time nonetheless. Really incredible production values on display here; the game is 6 years old but you wouldn't know it, looking at it. Voice acting is top-notch and the animations, character models, and environments look about as good as most AAA titles releasing today. It just really captures that classic Star Wars feel, especially during some of the story-critical set pieces. There's also a really great sense of character progression, with plenty of skills to unlock that will allow you to explore new places, move through the environments more fluidly, and slice down enemies more efficiently. Boss fights are unfortunately few and far between, and while they aren't particularly difficult, the few that are there are very fun and cinematic.
Plenty to love here, pick it up if you like the idea of a story-driven and cinematic single player game with some fun combat and exploration mechanics

got it for $10 wouldn't pay more than that for this game honestly, mediocre story. Hate Cere with a passion, greez is mid. If Merrin didn't end up the way she did I would not recommend this game. It's good, but it is shit for me. 3 hours in, and I am already once again fed up. Collectibles didn't save when I left after the first play session. Fast travel between "meditation points" (bonfires) does not exist. Cutscenes are not skippable, so if you left at an opportune time after returning to your ship, but somehow that didn't count as a moment that should autosave, so I had to sit through the same cutscene I sat through before. This would be a nitpick, if I didn't google if it is at all possible and saw that even in NG+ there is no skipping of cutscenes. Combat felt strangely easy on the Jedi Master difficulty, to the point of seeing the "Second Sister" and almost beating her in the introduction fight.
TL;DR: I can see the appeal, but I don't care for the story, and there are QoL things missing.
Also, only play this if you really care about the story and Star Wars. Maybe just watch a 2 hour long video about the story instead, cuz fuck EA.
...Why the fuck did I buy this on a whim...

controls are not as responsive as I would like, when you dash or defend after an attack it takes some time to register. Some regular enemies are harder to deal with than many bosses, I ended up dying more often while discovering the map than during actual boss fights. Animations are unreasonably long, at many points I refrained from saving the game just to avoid triggering the animation. It doesn't use steam input so only way to use ps controllers over bluetooth is using an emulator. When you launch the game through the desktop shortcut it starts on background and you have to manually select the game window from the taskbar (probably because of the EA launcher).
Ignoring all this, it's a decent game.

Quite honestly, this game is not fun. It's incredibly tedious and it feels like it punishes the player more than rewarding them. The combat is clunky, the platforming gets to be annoying very quickly, and the wayfinding is non-existant. I don't feel like a jedi when playing this game, I feel like an a-hole with a lightsaber that I don't know how to use. Some people may dig this game, and I really tried to like it, but I don't find it worthwhile to continue playing.

This is a platform game, kinda like mario but with better graphics, its not a slasher game 90% of the time. Its a very difficult solve this puzzle game, and sometimes the puzzle is how to leave a map. So many things in the game need to be looked up via tutorial that it wasnt fun to play. I kept trying but it was constantly not fun. Would not recommend unless you really like platform puzzle games.
Jedi: Fallen Order – A Great Beginning… Followed by 15 Hours of searching for ponchos.
I really tried to love this game, the whole opening sequence was such an immersive and brilliant way to introduce the whole world our protagonist lives through, it adapts the drama and emotions perfectly. I'll admit, this game has it's moments of memorable moments, such as climbing onto AT-ATs, Rescuing and saving the Wookiees, alongside other cool little moments which really make this game feel alive and bright.
Then it all.. comes crashing down.
Once this game starts it's routine and fully fleshes itself out for you to explore, it becomes a complete mess. The Metroidvania structure, which sounds good on paper and seems enjoyable enough, However it is the primary reason why it becomes very linear and loses all of it's reason to even be fun. Planet's are designed not to encourage discovery, but to send you back through areas you’ve already cleared just to open one extra door. If backtracking was a absolute crime, this game would be serving a life sentence.
The exploration is complete utter trash, "Oh wow, a fucking poncho, Oh cool! a skin for BD-1!" Non of these feel rewarding or fun to even look at, it's just a big excuse to justify a AAA price tag. Just stupid cosmetics, meaningless XP boost, and yet barely any fast traveling mechanics available to waste even more time on this shit.
Characters are forgettable and useless.
These guy's are probably just okay at best, in all honesty the protagonist is the only good character through this game, and the rest of the side characters are a bunch of empty mugs who haven't seen the light of day in ages. Yikes.
Final thoughts
A strong first impression that quickly turns into a fucking chore. Worth playing once, preferably on sale. And when you're done dealing with this bullshit, at that point just boot up Dark Forces and Bounty Hunter to relive your stress from playing this complete god awful modern day mess.

This game is just shy of being phenomenal, but pretty damn close to it. Here are some of my complaints:
- Sometimes lock-on does not change to closest enemy after defeating an enemy in combat.
- Switching lock-on target is clunky and does not work very well.
- Enemies rarely ever take stagger damage which makes combos difficult to execute.
- Sometimes the game exits lock-on after defeating an enemy despite the presence of other enemies you are engaged with.
But these criticisms are not deal-breakers - as a matter of fact I had an absolute blast with this game.

I would not recommend this game for offline play or gaming on the steam deck. I really wanted to play this on a trip, but couldnt because of the EA app.

Honestly, I'm having a great time with the game mechanics and the story is decent. It has crashed a few times but i want to keep playing, Low score is just from it crashing, like a lot, and saves are tied to points in the story so you lose quite a bit of progress, Also, sometimes when it boots it changes my resolution to not fit my tv. It wasn't made for 4k? Also, it's a perfect Steamdeck game that I can't play on my Steamdeck. Like, why?

There's just better games in the genre - and the story was, frankly, insulting

This game has an OK but creatively uninspired combat that you only get a few times every what feels like 10 minutes. The story is lacking in almost every form, I've never cared less about a set of characters in my life. little to no customization other than a poncho and a light saber you almost never look at other than the blade of it. the puzzles aren't complicated at all just a lot of walking and running, and things that should be 100% claimable aren't which confused me at the first parts of the game, its just a snooze fest where nothing ever happens.

I love the suspense, art, graphics, immersion, and story telling of this AMAZING Cal Kestis game!
After all, who wouldn't want a little Star Wars immersion?
