Old game, huge potential, good story campaign, chaotic and frustrating. The game is old but good. The story campaign is also quite good, but the game mechanics are quite horrible, which is a shame because the game's battles are super cinematic. The battles, especially those in space, are super chaotic, and it is extremely hard to maintain an overview and coordinate your troops. The land ones are just a little better. The units are too small, they move slowly and are uncontrollable, and there aren’t any good ways to control and coordinate them. I have played many RTS games, but the battles in Empire at War are simply very difficult to control and slow. It is such a shame because the game has so much potential. But you should try it, until we receive something better, after all, this is where it all started.

The game use to work use to be fun now i cant even open it i let it sit for a hour then i stopped it then i let it sit all night still waiting for it to open

This is an awesome real time strategy game for star wars fans. Highly recommend. Also the expansion forces of corruption is good on its own, but also has massive amounts of replay with numerous mods. I recommend Thrawn's Revenge.

Visuals- Good looking game. Shows its age, but not in a bad way. Rating: 8/10 Gameplay- Space fights carry the game, stuff on the ground gets boring pretty quickly. Rating: 7/10 Sound- Star Wars music and dialogue. Always hits. Rating: 10/10 Replay- Yes! Tons of ways to play the game using mods and even more fun with friends. Rating: 9/10 Performance / Bugs- Runs well on most systems. Some bigger mods can cause stutters. Found no bugs in the base game. Rating: 8/10 Price- Worth the $20 price tag, but probably wouldn't pay any more. Rating: 7/10 -Final Rating- 8.1/10 — A classic RTS that’s still worth playing, especially with mods. Space battles are iconic, and it’s one of the best Star Wars games for strategy fans.

My favorite game, straight forward and satisfying

Amazing game, worth it for the continued dev support (still fixing issues after almost 20 years!) and most importantly the amazing mods. The modding community continues releasing full featured content modernizing graphics and bringing in new eras, especially the Clone Wars and post-Endor EU. Empire at War's ingenious combination of ground and space combat is an amazing decision and somehow has yet to be done again. Until then, or until the sequel, we have the mod teams.

It's everything ive been waiting for! I've wanted to play this since i was about 16 yrs old I'm 26 now and I'm so happy to finally play this. For the EMPIRE!!!!

It is a very fun RTS game, it has a little something for everyone (yes that is a meme reference).

Base games are classic, but the mods are surreal. So many more hours and still updated in 2025. God bless Steam and God bless modders ha.

Old but definitely one of the best Star Wars games. You can play as either the Rebel Alliance, the Empire or the Zann Consortium. All factions have their own campaigns. Mods add endless possibilities.

i like to spam star destroyers to finish off the enemy in campaign and space combat modes, very nice game but gets boring quite quickly

A fairly fun game, but also an irritating game. The strategy is minimal but fun. At the same time the difficulty settings don't seem to actually do anything at all. The irritating parts of the game are particularly prevelent when playing rebels, or engaging in ground combat. The space combat is fairly nice, but again simple. Come to think of it, it would be better to call this one of those games that is awsome in theory and middling to poor in theory. On the other hand it has not been price hiked so you actually get your money's worth. All told I give this game a 5.5/10. For the same concept done better try sins of the solar empire rebellion, with thrawn's revenge 2.

The base game is solid if aged. I recommend playing it if it is your first time to the game. I real fun is in the mods. Corey and the mod team responsible for EAWX, Fall of the republic, and Revan's revenge have turned this game into one of my favorites. I can't say enough positive things about their work with this game.

Hands down will always be the best Star wars game out there For me 11/10 story is amazing for a old RTS may not be canon and based off of legends but still fits in the universe so well Long live the Consortium

ABSOLUTE PEAK GAME ive been playing atlkeast one game aday with my friends.

Empire at War Forces of Corruption is a one of a kind rts game. The modding community has made it even better. The combination of space strategy and tactical combat for space and ground gives this game depth no other rts has. I bought this game new Christmas 2007 and it is still a regular part of my gaming time thanks to a fantastic modding community. Especially Steiner Modding Group, Cory and all those responsible for the expanded games and Nomada Firefox. This game and its mods beat all the contenders hands down.

Bought for the game. Stayed for the mods, which are functionally a mix of sequels and full-feature expansion packs. Workshop gives this game easily 10x+ more content.

One of the best star wars(and space RTS) games out there. Especially after the recent performance update the modding community is very lively and makes the game even more replayable. I dream of the day they remake this, the space battles are one of a kind

To be honest i havent played vanilla version too much but this game is incredibly modable specially with the workshop, wich makes for example changing from the OT era to the clone wars or even preclone wars era very easily just download put the mod code on the propeties and enjoy now i havent explored too far on code of the same game since i am not a programer and i dont wanna mess up things but perhaps you may have the experience to do so, so yeah i recomend not just playing but even modding it by yourself and trying new ways of enjoying this amazing game

Probably 500 hours on steam and another 1000 on disk, love this game and with mods you'll never tire with the creativity of this community.

This game is AMAZING!!!! I've played it for hours just on the base game. Then I started playing mods and it was just as good, on my crappy laptop I play Republic at War which I highly recommend, another mod for more advanced PCs is the Empire at War Remake mod, the mod is a total overhaul of stuff already ingame but also adds tons of new stuff (even easy AI takes a hour to beat if your as bad as me lol) but it is still really fun! if you can get it on sale that's great but it is worth the $20 dollars.

a truly amazing Community has made it so that a Game which is as old as I am is still one of the best strategy games ever made. The mods for this game might as well be games themselves with how detailed and extensive they are. Definitely worth a try if you are an RTS or star wars fan, especially with mods 8.5/10 easily

this game is amazing i love how you can play the old one and the DLC add on i highly advise doing the DLC as it holds a lot of new things and is a bit more stable this is a classic and if you have problems running it download Microsoft C++ 2005 just look that up download it and it should fix and the game is still getting updates with bug fixes and stability i have not played the mods but heard they are great i love this game and if you like RTS games or star wars this is a great one to play or start off with

The game it very in-depth, but also easy to learn. I haven't played very much, but I feel an acute grasp on the mechanics.

Fun and challenging, i love the mods and time and effort put into them. i have always wanted a new empire at war style star wars game and still hope for someone to make one in the future, the new engines available to create games could truly make a very special empire at war successor.
