Maybe it's me, maybe it's a skill issue but I don't understand the hype. Gameplay loop looks promising but the combat is rough in all the wrong ways. Unpredictable enemies that are way too hard to predict considering they can almost all insta-attack with no windup to anticipate what's up and from my understanding, combat revolves around circling around enemies, stacking them and burning them out. Not the kind of engaging gameplay I enjoy. Willing to take "skill issue" here but it's just not for me.

I see the appeal to this game, I played it with my partner and he enjoyed it. The combat is very fast and i am probably to slow. I feel like some attacks are a bit too punishing because they nail you down to a spot for to long and also the aiming input feels wonky at best, some i-frames would be nice but if some attacks have i-frames it feels like they are to short ( not sure if you really have i-frames tho). My partner also said he feels like the game is just a smidge too fast. the jazz music is a banger :). The design is lovely and easy to interpret. The loading screens are very choppy. Arcana's can be collected and are fun to experiment with. All in All a good game but i think you have to be a certain type of gamer to really enjoy it. The tutorial is funny and cute. The aiming of the attacks feels wonky (it is probably a skill issue on my side). + Good Music (Banger Jazz :3) + Nice and cute pixel look + Cool combat variety + Cute Tutorial - Combat too fast and a smidge to punishing - too short or no i-frames - Aiming feels wonky (direction can't be changed on certain attacks which is very punishing / Skill issue from my side probably)

I think I understand what people like about this game but I can't say it resonates with me. On one hand you have tonnes of spells and abilities, each unique, no resource management, its all cooldowns and it makes you feel powerful. On the other hand, if you expect something like a usual twinstick roguelike, you might hate this game. WoL is not a game of quick reactions, agile dodging and avoiding of projectiles. Its a game of gimmicks. Pile enemies together, bait them around corners, run around and take pot shots, stun, root and stagger them. Its the right way to play. Even bosses are basic affairs of avoiding simple telegraphs and attacking. Its a failure of controls that forces this play style. Dodging offers no invulnerability frames and does not cancel out of attack animations. Everything in the game will stun lock you out of half your health at the drop of a hat so risking a bad hit is usually out of the question. I feel like WoL would rather I lower my self to its level rather than have me rise to its challenge. Feels dirty.

this game is SUPER HARD to be played alone, but thats the charm of it. it all boils down to what kind of wizard you want to be. 8/10

I like a lot about this game and the attacks seem varied and interesting. You can clearly create a ton of different builds and decisions are meaningful. However, I don't particularly like the movement and I wasn't really able to find a flow that felt good. I think this is a solid 6/10 with a lot working for it, but IMO, there are better options so I cannot quite recommend.

Worst and most unrewarding Roguelike I've ever played. There is a learning curve and a grind that are both cancer. You are encouraged to play so slow and from enormous range or else be punished by infinite stunlocks by 3 or more mobs. Gutter trash.

There's a bit of a learning curve for this game's mechanics which makes it really fun. It doesn't have slow progress at all. You just have all the game's content available to unlock as u get better and clear more runs. It's really well-done and there's a sheer amount of different builds that you can pick based on your play style. 10/10.

challenging but rewarding magic rouge lite game. A lil difficult to start fresh on as you miss the spells you used to have.

Nails the feeling of being an agile battle mage. Dashing about and unleashing a wide variety of spells. Choosing relics and combinations to get very strong builds. Love this rouge-like!

Always been a fan of magic, which makes this the perfect game for me. The fast-paced battle, strategic use of magic to create a combo. Tons of different magics/arcana to collect, each run feel different, endless magic combinations. Epic boss battles, cant seem to get bored of it. Plus there's co op, highly recommended to play with someone.

I really wanted to Wizard of Legend, I even gave it another shot after bouncing off of it the first time i played it. But im just gonna say it out right, this game just feels bad to play. The lack of i frames while dashing combined with enemies that throw out multi hit attacks that stunlock you into oblivion while draining your health in seconds makes it challenging sure but not in a fun or exciting way. It feels like this game was balanced more towards dumb spamming of spells rather than skillful play or developing cool synergies or fighting cool different enemy types. And before anyone says skill issue ive cut my teeth on roguelikes for years and i love a good challenge as long as it feels well designed and justified but in Wizard of Legend everything feels cheap and unrewarding in the absolute worst way possible Just play any other rogueliklle ever made, this one isnt worth your time

Customisation options are varied and feel unique however the game is really bad at explaining and planing itself. It defies common action roguelike traits. You don't have dash i frames. Each level is randomly generated. Enemies can easily overwhelm you because of that you need to play extra safe this in return make things boring. For some reason amount of relics you can equip is capped so some of your resources go waste. Since there aren't any shop rerolls you could easily end up with sub optimal or counter intuitive builds. The only thing you get good at overtime is playing safer. Encounters are designed in a way that force you to play safer and it feels like waste of time. Average build don't cut it. You either need to have tons of damage or huge amounts of sustain and resistance. This game needs lots of quality of life changes. I didn't check it out but modding seems like the only plausible option.

I would like to start this review by saying it's not a bad game by any means, but I honestly don't see why some people are so crazy about it The combat isn't bad, but the lack of i-frames and the ease to be stunlocked by enemies or bosses is rather frustrating, some people might call it a skill issue which is an argument I can understand, but I still find the lack of proper wind ups and the tight space in some rooms to be a problem That is especially annoying because bosses can stunlock you but you can't do the same during their stun window, you'll spam so many abilities to damage them to benefit of the opening that there'll be so many effects on top of one another you won't be able to see if they already recovered or if they were stunned at all As for the abilties, they're quite fun, some more unique than others, but that just opens more variety so you can try out and see which ones you like best, still, I wish there would be more depth to the abilities so they weren't just how many different ways you can do damage, like an elemental reactions system I've been 5 hours into this game, and I feel like I've already seen most of what it has to offer (as relics on their own don't seem to change much), which as someone who enjoys roguelikes don't feel like it incentivizes me enough to unlock more and keep on playing for longer, I wish you'd have unlock requirements for different things rather than buying everything with gems. That might be the case for a couple things, but as it's been presented, most what you get is gonna be unlocked by either buying it from the main hub, or acquiring it temporarily via a vendor while in a run Again, not a bad game by any means, but it left me wanting more, which at the same time might be more than enough for someone else's needs

This game is so good. Even though i haven't be able to beat the first boss but I can't stop playing. For some weird reason, I like this game more than Enter The Dungeon!

Best Combat in a roguelike i've ever seen, allows true player expression with the build possibilities. This is Goddamn amazing.

The best magic combat game I've played. I know there are different ones out there, but I prefer fast-paced, visually dynamic spells, and Wizard of Legend executes it perfectly. You're not standing still shooting fireballs or basic ice projectiles, you're moving & creating wild shapes with the elements. Also, it's probably the closest feeling you'll get to being the Avatar, and it's a great feeling

Wizard of Legend is a fast-paced roguelike with smooth combat and a fun magic system. I enjoyed the variety of spells and the ability to customize my playstyle. It can get a bit repetitive over time, but the gameplay is addictive and great.

this game has a great potentionl to be one of the best roguelike games, but the dashs here is so bad, what do you mean i don"t get immunity freams while dashing? literally all roguelike games give u immunity freams. and that"s without mentioning how fast this game is fighting the bosses feels like something skill less. that u need too have enough HP left to win the boss fight, and by bosses i mean the 3 big elemant users, please fix the dashing the game have a really good spells and its enjoyable

Another review on here hit the nail on the head: the combat is flawed at best. Enemies have split-second attacks and spawn instantaneously. It's like a worse Hades.
