Although I never had a chance to play the original unremastered edition, I can say, although shorter, it definitely stands up to the previous game. I like the point and click puzzler games and knowing that sleeping dragon is more 3d means its likely to change my perspective on broken sword. This game has some audio issues, sometimes only on one side which is quite annoying. I don't believe the game was intended to be that way originally. Gameplay, its a point and click find adventure and having the built in hints makes a massive difference allowing you to continue playing without having to find an online guide somewhere on how to get through a level. Would I recommend? Yes, but make sure you play the original first so you know the characters and the type of gameplay you are getting into.

A classic game everyone should play. The riddles can be solved, most of the time, using common sense. The game play is very easy. The graphics are great, the audio is interesting and the dialogs spiritual!

This is an OK remaster. Most everything has been given a facelift, without actually reworking the assets like they did in Broken Sword Reforged. I feel they could've done more, but it's serviceable for what it is. The game itself remains a good one, and is emblematic of the 90s point-n-click adventure game genre with all its pros and cons.

This was my first Broken Sword and won't be the last. It has a really funny script and great animation for an older game. The characters are are all, well...characters, that leave an impression on you. Some puzzles are a bit frustrating but a quick look at a walk-through solves them, most are logical enough. These days I'm a bit jaded by modern gaming so this was a breath of fresh air.

Replaying the Broken Sword series is bitter sweet, seeing the transition from 2-D hand drawn art to the early days of clunky polygon 3-D integration then finally to fully 3-D gameplay throughout its 5 episodes shows how long the franchise has lasted. It was of course nostalgic to replay the games from my childhood and recall then then awe of point and click adventures potential and later also reflect on its flaws and pitfalls. The game is the successor of Broken Sword, among the best adventure games in the hall of fame by legendary studio Revolution. It was a pleasure to play through the remaster, with its improvements but also realising its age in terms of graphics and low resolution videos and lack of newer innovative features present in modern gaming. But overall it was satisfying. Pros + A nostalgic trip for those who played it during their childhood. + Improved UI with quality of life improvements in game play. + Great story continuing the mystery, adventure and detective aspect of the first game. + Bringing back returning characters like Pearl and Duane and the goat. + Lovely 2-D hand drawn graphics with some awkward insertion of 3-D elements. + Stobbard and Nico are among the loveliest protagonists ever, their interaction is often funny and interesting, wish they just realised they should just get up and married. + The humour is good, some hit and misses but overall consistent. Cons - The game shows its age despite the remaster, with its low resolution graphics and videos. - The story while good, wasn't great, the Mayan aspect was nice, along with globe trotting adventure of the first around the world though less than its predecessor. - The character Titipoco was really a miss, not sure what they were thinking, as a comic character it just didn't work and his sudden inclusion in the group was weird, not to mention the ending and his role in it. - Ending was quite abrupt, the fate of the side characters were never known such as the Mayan chief and others. - The puzzles and failings of the genre while not as bad as other games does crop up, pixel hunting without a see all option being an innovation only later adapted in other games, and some frustrating backtracking and tedious puzzles like the treasure hunt and Mayan computer comes to mind. All in all I liked the first one better but its a competent enough successor which took inspiration and kept much of the tone and mechanics of the first game with improvements. It may not be great or introduced any real innovation but for those wanting more Broken Sword it delivered just that.

a couple of questionable racial stereotypes. overall fun to play, challenging at times but a solid storyline!

While this game may have been good for its time, there is a reason the adventure game genre died out. Big snoozefest.
