Shantae and the Seven Sirens

7.5/10 this game has shantae omg hi shantae Pretty decent metroidvania, cool aesthetic, good designs, good music, cool girls with cool clothes and they finally fixed the check points problem from the previous 2 games (massive improvement)

Gameplay wise, this is marginally below the pirate's curse in a good way. The abilities you unlock are smooth and feel natural, no need to pause to dance for your transformations this time around. It is also a proper metroidvania this time, no level select. Everything is interconnected.

Not as good as Half-Genie Hero. I liked the bigger, open world at first, but it quickly became a pain to navigate due to there being very few warp points. Enemies seem to do way more damage than in previous Shantae games but they don't balance this out by giving you better attacks or armor or anything, unless those things pop up much later in the game. The boss fights are terrible. Most of the boss fights in Shantae are dull but this game takes everything I disliked about Shantae bosses and pushes it further. Bosses are hit-sponges and you have very narrow windows to do damage to them. Additionally, the game has crash twice now on the same boss. I still like this game better than Risky's Revenge, but I think this game is much less well designed than Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero. It's an okay game but I don't feel comfortable recommending it.

Man, I really loved this game. It's currently my favorite Metroidvania, and it might even be my favorite Shantae game.

Yet another excellent Shantae game. I highly recommend it!
