Absolutely gorgeous, easy game - great for people like me who don't enjoy combat mechanics. I admittedly have atrocious hand-eye coordination, and any maneuvers that require much finesse or timing are beyond me, and even then, I found the game mechanics very easy to learn. I like the creativity of the mechanics and how the learning curve isn't steep because you're given a chance to build up familiarity before combining different moves into something more complex. I like that the objective of each level is clear via the map, and that you can't get stuck anywhere. In some games, I find myself getting stuck in ways where I can't get unstuck and instead have to restart the level, but that doesn't happen here. It's also easy to tell if you're going in the wrong direction, so there's no backtracking, which is good if you're impatient like me. If you have a friend who doesn't really consider themselves a gamer or gets intimidated by certain video games, I think this would be a great way to introduce them to gaming. Of course, it would be extremely remiss of me not to mention the stunning art and soundtrack. Nearly every scene looks like it could be a desktop wallpaper, and there's something very relaxing and gentle and scenic about the art style. I personally found this to be a wonderful, relaxing game. I just wish it were longer, or that there were a sequel - I loved playing this!

Beautiful, fun little platformer. Excellent atmosphere and score. The music reminds me of thinking and has that nostalgic feel. Calming game, you can’t die to my knowledge. Ending is kind of mids though.

Ok full disclosure I am TERRIBLE at jumping. This game is primarily jumping. Jump, double jump, jump slam, and jump glide.... so for me, this was a challenge. I did fine until I arrived at the Lady Bugs. I now give real lady bugs a bit of a side eye. That level and the spirit level took me far too long. That said, the art is gorgeous and the music soothing (though repetitive especially as it doesn't pause when you are in a menu). The story a bit poignant and a bit homecoming. If you didn't piece it together in on the way there is a beautiful cutscene summary at the end. So I do recommend if you are a good jumper or just want to improve your jump skills.

Let's face it: the art direction sells this game. Apart from that it's a rather basic platformer, not very challenging and no unusual mechanics. The controls can be a bit clunky, jumping around doesn't feel very smooth since it's not clear what's floor or what is just (nice looking) background. Many negative reviews hate the last level which finally introduces some difficulty. To me it was reminiscent of the final parts of "Limbo" and is basically the only thing that sets this game apart from your run-of-the-mill platformer. It's a nice game to kill a few hours, but nothing more. Get it on sale, or don't.

Never ever has a Fisher-Price-style "puzzle" platformer made me so angry. For the first 3 hours I was just bored but the last segment of the game made me genuinely irate. If I didn't have the disease where I feel the need to collect every achievement, I would've returned this game hours ago. Lets start with the simple things first :) - The music is pretty, sure, but there's only one song per area. If an area takes you more than 3 minutes, it will get repetitive. - The art style is all over the place. The watercolor backgrounds are really pretty and then some of the assets like the grubs and dragonflies look goofy and unpolished (now I'm just nitpicking) - There is only one collectible and it is necessary to collect them all to progress in the game which feels massively unrewarding. - There is no semblance of a story you could understand until a cutscene you get after you beat the game. Even with that context the story is basically meaningless. - Speaking of cutscenes, there is a very, very long, boring, and completely unnecessary one toward the end of the game. Now for bigger problems: - The platforming itself is clunky and the game controls extremely poorly. It's often extremely hard to tell where the slip triggers for platforms are, and jumps that should be fairly easy can take a dozen tries to land. The ladybug section is especially hellish. - The game is too long for being so empty. 90% of your time is spent running through empty space. Now, the thing that made me so angry: The final section of this game will alter your controls and the orientation of the screen in the most unnecessary and baffling way I've ever encountered. I was twisting my head basically upside-down in order to progress through some sections. It's the most ridiculous way of adding difficulty I've ever seen and it pissed me off so much I was willing to write this whole thing. I hate to like, shit on a team's hard work and everything, but sometimes you make a game that is just genuinely really boring at best and terrible at worst. I would say you should at least get the game on sale but I genuinely am advising you to just, skip the whole process and play something else.

Absolutely wonderful puzzle game disguised as a spiritual nature awakening! i have only been playing for 30 minutes and I absolutely recommend this game to everyone I know. The soundtrack is downright beautiful and relaxing. This game is truly gorgeous and I will not shut up about it! Absolutely underpriced for sure.

HOA is easily one of the most peaceful and serene gaming experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment it begins, it draws you into a world so calming and beautiful that it feels like stepping into a Studio Ghibli film — I honestly wouldn’t have been surprised if Totoro showed up. The platforming strikes a perfect balance: it’s challenging enough to stay engaging, but never crosses into frustrating territory. It lets you simply enjoy the journey. The visuals are absolutely stunning, with hand-drawn art that makes every moment feel like a moving painting. This is a game that soothes the soul. If you’re looking for something relaxing, enchanting, and full of quiet wonder, HOA is a must-play.
