System Shock® 2 (Classic)

From a fan of all that is Bioshock / Kevin Levine, I've been waiting for a good moment try this relic from the past and god did it not disappoint. Fantastic Atmospheric ambiance with awesome music. Old school gameplay with intriguing mechanics, more complex than in Bioshock games. The story with the audio was pretty engaging. You can see the DNA of the future games in there and I was all in for it. Shodan is waiting on the upcoming remaster coming next month, give it a try! Fantastic and I will be trying the remake from 2023 for the first one right away!

It shows its age in a lot of ways, but holds up surprisingly well despite the jankiness. Definitely one of my favorite RPGs. The aesthetics and overall atmosphere make it really engaging and memorable. Scary in so many ways. The sound effects and voice acting for the enemies are especially haunting. I thought the voice acting for the audio logs was bad though, with a handful of exceptions. The last few segments of the game fall off heavily in quality and mood, but the first 80% is so enjoyable it doesn't ruin my experience. It can be pretty unforgiving in difficulty until you learn the layout of the map, the attack patterns of enemies, and which upgrades to take. I did my first run on easy and worked my way up to the hardest on subsequent runs. Thankfully it has a lot of replayability, different builds to try, and secrets to find.

A very fascinating historical relic. I bet this was groundbreaking stuff in 99'. However, there are a lot of major design flaws to this game which to modern standards makes it a very frustrating experience. The ending and last bosses are true "wtf" moments. If you don't feel like playing the game, you should look at the end scene, that's some epic last-night-before-release nonsense.

Still holds up as possibly the best imersive sim and as one of the best games of all time!

Such a classic. Quite a challenging game at times, especially at first, which can be very frustrating, but later on you become a brute and just blast through everything in your way. If you can endure through it you will ultimately get yourself into an amazing experience you can't really find in games anymore.

Easily within my top three games. I have just begun playing through the Shock games at the start of the year and began with the remake of the original which left me in pure amazement. I would say that this game is even better and has an amazing fleshed out story and really fun game play. I am now just starting with the original Bioshock which is developed by the same people as this game but while it and the other Bioshocks will probably be great experiences I do not believe it will be able to top the greatness of System shock Two and its predecessor. 10/10

Spend the majority of the game running around the map shouting "WTF AM I SUPPOSE T DO?!" 10/10 would recommend.

No need to wax lyrical about how utterly brilliant this game is - we all know that. Let's talk technicalities instead. This is essentially the same modded version as the 25th Anniversary Edition - but crucially, it's the original, which makes it infinitely superior. And it runs on any modern OS, and with any modern resolution you like. Now do yourself a favour: buy it, play it, breathe it in. Proper gaming awaits
