Maybe I'm not the target audience for this game, although I do love the Mega Man and Mega Man X series, and have beaten most of those games. Also, I love both roguelikes and roguelites, and I particularly love side-scrolling platformer roguelites. So it seems like the game would be a good fit for my tastes. However, the final stages of this game in particular have frustrating platforming sections which are simply too difficult for me to enjoy, mostly because of the combination of three things: 1. Knockback 2. Very short invincibility time 3. Sending you back a far way when you fall into lava or a pit If even one of these three elements were removed, the stages would likely feel much more fair and enjoyable. It's the combination of the three that made those stages not fun, and also probably what made the game not feel like the Mega Man or Mega Man X games I grew up with and loved. Also, lowering the game's difficulty level does nothing to mitigate the issue. It only makes the more enjoyable challenging sections too easy. People with better skills than mine will certainly enjoy this game more than I did. Also, it's possible that the random-level generation gave me an especially unlucky sequence, but I'd rather not take that gamble every single run. 20XX is a well-made game in many respects, but certain mechanics-oriented design choices unfortunately made it a frustrating experience for me. It’s a shame that this aspect only became apparent after investing so much time in the game. I wish I had known about it earlier. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend the game to a friend. 4/10

Let me begin by saying... IT'S A SOLID GAME. IT CONTROLS WELL, HAS GOOD GRAPHICS, AND... It's... so repetitive... I swear, I've walked through the same 5 rooms for the hour I played, and... I dislike the very notion of this game. It's fine! It's a fine game! But the megaman style is DESIGNED to play in a well-thought-out and creatively-designed and planned environment! But this... It's a barebones roguelite with rooms that... aren't well thought-out... It brings none of the charm its source material offered for the sake of making easy cookie-cutter rooms and thrown-together levels. It's just... It'll lose you so fast, because it has none of the megaman soul it's VERY CLEARLY SUPPOSED TO HAVE!

It's got that good PS2-era insane difficulty that platformers had back then. The kind that makes you feel POWERFUL when you win!
