Despite personally really liking the concept of the game.
Gameplay wise is simply is flatter than a pancake.
Between missions roll some dice who knows what troops you'll have access to.
The maps are dynamic lazy slop which means "no mission is the same".
Therefor some missions especially the sneak ones took ages to pass because I simply couldn't find passage to the objective.
In maps where you do have a base to manage it becomes incredibly obvious strategy is no part of this game.
Your options are: Defence Fight or offence fight. You can't do both because you are locked to your flag person.
You attacks are orchestrated by run up to enemy base and get shot while calling your people over.
Of course for artificial closeness the "farms" that provide "meat" run fallow(become unproductive) at random points meaning you can't base build and doing so is utterly pointless. As your farm will become unfarmable after a few minutes meaning the only strategy is to attack relentlessly.
Troop composition is done by building the appropriate burrows to spawn certain troops but since the resources run thin at all times this is a double edged sword as it costs food to build the buildings, spawn the troops but also to claim more farms and farm positions.
Essentially the games strategy is always... Zerg opponent. There is no other strategy.
The visual style looks nice and the missions are all lightly unique so it never feels like you are playing the same mission twice. But that is about it.
And multiplayer could be interesting however I've never been able to to play it multiplayer. So who knows.
Their claim is "With matches lasting from 5-12 minutes" which for a strategy game is... very bad. Not sure why that is boasted about.
Most strategy games are snowballs where you accrue resources and claim turf until you push your enemy into a position where they can not longer win, only hold out.
Or they are games of capture point, clear area...
This game is just... Run around like a crazy chicken because you need to be in 4 places at once. Which isn't normally an issue as you can order troops from anywhere to anywhere and build anywhere at any time by sending an engineer or constructor / whatever. In this game you HAVE TO, PHYSICALLY, CROSS THE BATTLEFIELD, REPEATEDLY. To go rebuild farms, build new barracks, defend, if you aren't attacking you are losing.
Imagine if the allies have to pack up their troops and fall back to their countries to place new barracks and farms then completely restart invasion from scratch..... And all troops can only really be in one place so if you know where that is , you can just delete their farms forcing them to fall back to defend or M.A.D.
Personally I couldn't recommend it. It is going to be a drag to even finish. Maybe I might change my mind if the multi-player works out better but I sincerely doubt it.
Oh and the story makes no sense. Animals eating animals. We're all intelligent but we eat each other anyway but hey I'ma start a revolution because they ate my son even though that is literally what I've been doing with my son. Hypocrites all round none of the characters are likeable. It's not a redemption arc, just cannibal tribes fighting about who gets to eat who. And being upset that someone ate someone. And yet they are all backstabbing each other non-stop.
