I played Wizardry 8 long before it became available on Steam, and finished the game back then, with an actual downloadable certificate that came with finishing the game, seen it on steam bought it for nostalgic reasons, and I will play it again in the future, the 2 hours is not relevant to how long I played for, more like 200 hours before Steam had it on its library, the game is what you would expect from a Wizardry game from 2001, its great fun, lots of combat, many dark dungeons to explore, if you like this type of game, you will not be disappointed.

Flawless game for its time. I met with it when i was 6 years old, had no clue what im doing.. still was kinda enjoyable. Came back to it after yearrrrs. I got sooo hooked on.. If you can get used to the whole gamestyle of it.. The story, the mechanics, the characters dialouge, Voice actors/actresses. This game is SO magical, I might have like 1000 hours beside the steam one. Just wanted to show my gratitude for the developers buying it. If I would open it again, i'd still merge in for a week. This game is like heroin.

This is the greatest of the wizardry series and it's a shame there has been no game like it since. This is unique experience that everyone should try. The use of the squad positioning effecting how you fight with moving monsters in an open world that is turn based and distance dependent. This is one of those games where the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Even in 2025 this is a unique title that is still a blast. If only they would make a more updated version of this, open world and less quest dependency.

Played through several times when it came out (pre-steam) and it was ironically the first Wizardry game I played due to how things like time, age, and so on work... the game felt a bit buggy to me at the time but it was WELL worth playing to the end. Rewarding to figure out the world's secrets, of which I am sure I have still missed many, despite having poured hundreds of hours into the game.

I have never really played it and I hope one of my many installations of this software will yield fruit to my gaming life. But until then I can only guess. Judging from my experience with games since 1990 I think this game is good (The engine and gameworld feel really good and solid! Menus and other UI imply cool complex game rules and mechanics.) and so I boldly recommend :3 !
