A paralel game that has no synergy with the pre-existing content. You need progress to do AoD, by the time you have this progress AoD content is no longer valuable to you. It takes a long time, and the good rewards are only at the far end of the game where they don't matter. Cool idea, but it clearly wasnt thought through.

This DLC would be amazing if the skills didnt take so long to grind out or you didnt have to check on them so consistently. Archaeology provides incredibly powerful bonuses and items at the cost of taking absolute ages to farm anything from even with a maxed out account. Cartography provides extremely powerful buffs at an equally high price but simply takes FAR too long to unlock the map for the majority of it to be useful until you're past the end of the base game. That said its still very good if you own throne of the herald as the buffs make some of the harder content in it a lot more viable to setup, especially in the early stages of it.

I know it's an idle game and all, but that's still no excuse for this DLC to waste your time as much as this one does. I went ahead and maxed cartography so I never have to come back to it, only to remember that archaeology was a thing. Do you enjoy tedium? Convert logs into paper, and paper into maps. Improve those maps so you don't waste as much of your time at dig sites. There's also a chance for you to dig up nothing, because of course there is - it's how archaeology works. Do you want to waste time in combat, too? Now you've got barrier monsters that are immune to normal attacks, and can only be damaged once your summons take care of the barrier. Didn't do summoning yet? What, are you stupid? I think I would rather grind agility in actual OSRS than mess with cartography and archaeology. I hope these systems are toned way the hell down in Melvor II.
