It brings me great sadness to post this review. Amazing game so so so much fun. However, there is an RNG get bent problem. Others have mentioned it, but literally, you will be placed on a map with no resources that you need to move to the next map. There is trading, but the exchange ratio was still so high that it was impossible. You bring stuff with you, but the requirements are well above what you travel with. After the 3rd time, when I was 4 hours into a run and lost completely to pure, unchecked RNG, DONE. So upsetting such an amazing game. DEVS PLEASE. How many people have to scream to fix this very basic problem?

I want to love this game. I do. It wants to be a tough resource management game, with lots of potential ways forward and with little margin for error. And I am highly in favor of that style of game and am happy to put hundreds of hours into figuring out those sharp learning curves and finessing the balances between manpower and resources (and I'm not exaggerating; look at my listed hours for resource management games.) But as lovely as this is to look at and as ambitious as it is with its scope, the RNG is far too R to allow to you have any coherent strategy. No matter how carefully you learn your skills and plan out your turns, the RNG frequently unbalances the game and often makes a map unwinnable. If a player is losing, it should be because they failed to plan well enough or weren't sufficiently flexible with their strategy, not because the game make itself unwinnable. Reining in the RNG and getting that balance right would have me diving back in in a heartbeat.

a prewarning now: this game is intentionally difficult, there are definetly strategies and ways to succeed, but it will take many tries to, and despite the tutorial, there is minimal guidance on how to win this game is a true roguelike in which to say, you win by dying if you do not enjoy difficult games or roguelikes, i would not recommend this game however, if you want to try a roguelike with an interesting twist, i would highly recommend this game as far as the eye mixed ecological concepts and environmentalism with the reality of survival as a tribe you must balance caring for the land (both spiritually and physically), or decide to decimate the world, but expect consequences it relies on time and resource management, as every turn the clock gets closer and closer to the end of your people i would prefer more information on what the traits themselves are in-game, but ultimately overall it is a well made and interesting game, which utilises its premise against the player (in a good way)

Never have I had so many mixed feelings about a game. It's fun. It's impossible. Imagine a roguelike game in which you die a lot but never actually get stronger. The game relies heavily on RNG that is outright terrible at times, like sticking you in a halt with zero wood and giving you the goal of gathering 500 wood. Or giving you a pupil with the cooking specialty, but then giving them a trait that forbids them from cooking. The "campaign" is a brief tutorial that doesn't teach much, and a lot of things are left unexplained. There are lots of ways to put points into things to make your life easier, but none of this is discussed in the tutorial, and the margin of error is such that you don't have time to experiment and figure stuff out. When I got to the last tribe I kept dying of hunger despite having lots of food. Took me several runs to realize I was dying from lack of wool. The main game would really benefit from a sliding difficulty scale or the ability to add more difficulty modifiers (you can do this in a custom game, just not standard). And yet, I keep playing. I'm not even frustrated. I can't say why. Maybe because the music and tone are relaxing? It's harder than Frostpunk and yet I feel no tension, not even when I'm about to lose. Is it worth it? I think so. Just know what you're getting into and don't expect updates. The game doesn't appear very popular and I was able to find plenty of comments complaining about many of these issues back when it was released. I doubt the RNG will get fixed.

It is a really nice game and idea. but the difficulty is not balanced out well and there are no options to regulate it. SO: Yes i like the game a lot but i loose all the time. Frustrating. but there is a lot of fun and imersive elements that i really enjoy
