You Will Not Get The Experience The Game Promises
I followed the development of this game for years before the official release. No one wants this game to be good more than me, but nearly 2 years after its EA release, I still can not wholeheartedly recommend this game.
Not an Open World
This is the catalyst for my negative review. If this game is the Open World RPG experience that it presents itself to be, I would have shut my mouth and gave it a strong recommendation. You will not get an open world experience. This game is a bunch of small maps awkwardly sewn together by an "Over-World" which is basically a Fallout 4 style fast travel page. When I brought this up on release date on the subreddit to the dev, he said that "open world doesn't mean you can seamlessly travel anywhere, it just means non-linear". The "Overworld" is an empty, barren plain with the map entrances and points of interest scattered over them. Occasionally, you get random events spawn that makes you fight some bandit or goblins if collide with one. That is it. This is the most bare minimum to get a "Open World" tag on your game. From game design perspective, there is absolutely no reason why everything has to be so far apart from each other that travelling becomes an immersion breaking bore. This is an extremely bizarre design choice, because the developers clearly made at least chunks of large maps, but only chose to limit the available exploration range within a small part of it. I would suspect it is because of the abysmal optimization would render this game unplayable if there are seamless travel, which brings me to my next point:
Terrible Optimization
A game like this should not have an RX 6800XT as its MINIMUM required GPU. I have a RTX 4060 and Ryzen 7940HS, and this low-poly unity game could not get a consistent 60 FPS on 1080P in many places. It should be a crime to release a game in this state. Even for a solo dev, optimization for an "open world" game should be at the top of the priority list. I am not saying this game looks bad, its art style is why I followed and bought the game in the first place. I am saying this quality should not demand this level of hardware only to struggle.
Movement
Parkour is an essential core to this game, and it kind of sucks. The intro mission to get the hat should be the first red flag that the movement system is a mess. I would point to a myriad of indie games with insanely polished movements like the recent Blood Thieve or STRAFTAT. My criticism of the movement in this game is that it is incredible inconsistent, and anything that requires wall climbing just becomes button mashing until something works. This would be tolerable, but the stamina system makes it incredible frustrating. Your stamina drains unreasonably fast, and recovers unreasonably slow. If you want to perform any complex movement to reach a certain location, prepare to pull your hair out. The grappling hook is a nice addition, but its uses are limited to trees and some parts of some buildings.
THE LOOT (or the lack there of)
For an Open World RPG, the looting system in this game is perhaps the most disappointing of them all. Besides a few instances where you can find a new spell. most of your looting will be opening chests which are scattered around the buildings in the maps. I don't know if I have not progressed far enough to have some decent loot show up, but in my 12 hours of playing, all the chests are a combination of: Some weapon that is 100% outclassed by your current weapon because it is identical to what enemies in that region drop anyways, some food, some ammo, and some crafting material. Thats it. You will not get visibly stronger from opening a chest, so why bother putting them everywhere? I personally think its a cheap way of filling out an empty map. TLDR: Not an Open World, terribly optimized, baffling movement design, no real looting experience.

It's hard to recommend this game in it's current state, it's just too clunky, reminds me a lot of runescape in that you grind in each of your skills to level them up but there's not a whole lot to do with those skills, for example, you can make weapons in a similar modular fashion to M&B Bannerlord but you can't sell them so I guess just throw them on the ground because you've levelled up and can make better ones now.. I think if it is finished it will be really good but right now it's the epitome of breadth with no depth. If you enjoy the grinding aspect it is still good but be warned there is nothing at the end of that grind.

We have Elder Scrolls 6: Bannerlord at home. I'm honestly floored. Its ridiculously fun. I truly can't wait to see it reach its full potential, because even half baked, its already amazing.

After 20 hours and levels in the game, I can confidently say this is a cool starting point for an RPG. Highlights: - crafting, as evidenced by the new redesign of weaponsmithing, is basically best in class. You build modularly, for a sword, for example, you need a pommel, a guard, a handle and a blade and you make them independently. Out of whatever materials you want and have, each with their own damage, attack speed and gold value, that then also determines the xp gained for crafting. Only thing I wish for there is the ability to filter or sort by type or material - skill acquisition is basically Elder Scrolls like, you use it, you improve at it. But you also find skill books in the world that give you active skills - world is big and mysterious, I'm finding that as I get older games like this, where guides don't exist, are actually more fun, because I can get surprised - you can basically play as an adventurer travelling from town to town seeking renown, riches and progress, it's kind of like an anime in that sense Notable cons: - the game is still quite early, optimization is not there - neither are quite a few skill trees, areas and questlines, notable in my list of interests being armorer! - I think at least a few passive skills in the skilltrees would be welcome, so far I see only actives - balance is a little annoying, I find that 1h swords are way more powerful than 2h swords because of the attack speed difference Conclusion: I got it for 50% off and for that money, it was an absolute STEAL. Get it, support it, offer feedback, let's help this game become even better than it is!

It has the occasional bug but considering it's in early access and is actively being updated it's fantastic. One flaw I do find is that the combat system could use a buff. The enemies are fine when you're at low levels but once you get to higher levels, it gets really hard to find them enjoyable or interesting to fight. Maybe if we had more dungeons or maybe higher levelled dungeons that would be fantastic. I love the XP and Levelling system it's extremely broad and open yet levelling it can be REALLY satisfying. The fact that it doesn't have a cap limit means that you could if you truly wanted to grind Jumping to level 1000 and still level it further. Space Travel fr.

what an incredible gem, the developer is very very good at being transparent and keeping communication up between him and the community, on his discord there is a specific channel to ask questions and get them answered, you can send in suggestions or just talk about the game with him, the actually game play is really fun and i got hooked for quite a while, love the combat and spell casting. if you love RPG's i heavily recommend

I absolutely see that this game has potential, but the current state is too janky to enjoy. Excellent work nonetheless by the single man dev team. The game needs a UX writer's touch, and if I had any game dev experience I'd offer my skills for free. A few notes: The invisible boundaries are confusing and I've found them between me and an objective while in the same area, forcing me to wandering in weird zigzags. The quest / objective system could be better, and the objective list on the side needs to be more distinct. Less opacity on the frame. This game needs some UX work in general. It's strange that I'm this big important person, but I'm being sent out by my people with no clothes on and one janky weapon. It doesn't make sense that I leave the keep without at least a basic set of clothing. I figured out reading spells, but have no idea why. It doesn't add spells to my skills. I have no clue how to access and use spells, and even less idea how to learn that. Features like wall running are cool and seem intuitive, but climbing doesn't work at all. Ladders are a death gamble. I was annoyed with the building mechanics and decided I didn't want to mess with that at all right away. I have no idea if there's a way to adjust the camera in build mode, but if there is i couldn't figure it out. Snapping didn't work at first and then sudden;y worked perfectly. Accidentally activated slowmo without realizing it, couldn't figure out what was happening because there's no indication on screen that slowmo is engaged. Not sure why that's an option in the first place, it doesn't seem to be tied to skills or stats. Calling this an "open world" game is completely inaccurate. The areas I've seen aren't even that large and have very little in them, and are filled with the invisible barriers I mentioned. I have no idea where I'm expected to go to find or do certain things (a mix of bad objectives and poor quest marking. I'd rather no markers and detailed objectives than current state. Or dynamic markers). I don't like the overworld feature at all. I'd rather a simpler version of the maps from Kingdoms of Amalur. I remember being told there was a way to access the overworld right away, but I forgot that pretty quit and there doesn't seem to be a map option. The characters that explain stuff don't explain them well, and if you have a quest for them it locks everything else you need to talk to them about. Too much about how things are meant to work is vague and confusing. I'm sure I can figure it all out with more time and a little trial and error, but that shouldn't be the expectation. I know I don't have a lot of time logged, but I won't keep playing a game I don't enjoy. I'd love to see what this game becomes one day. I worry that the dev is trying to tackle everything at once, and as a result no single feature has been polished. I hope the potential of this game is realized in grand fashion, can't wait to change my review to talk about how much I love this title.

This dev is COOKING but it needs more time in the oven. One to keep an eye on. I don't really recommend it in its current state but my impression is quite positive, thus the positive rating. If there was a "yes but not yet" button I'd click it. This is essentially an alpha version of a sandbox FP RPG. I'm typically very jaded about the whole "buy now and get a finished game later" model but small devs need support, and this game has good bones. GOOD: I love the grappling hook and freeform class system. The classes that are in the game right now are really creative and fun. Magic especially feels like it's got some fresh ideas that we don't usually see. Ragdolling and the things that cause it being an important mechanic in combat isn't something you see every day. Being able to take your playthrough in any direction you want is ambitious, but could be really cool if seen through well. OKAY: The gathering minigames are just interesting enough to make me want to participate. The fishing stands out as the most fun. The tedium of reaching higher tiers and the initial confusion about how to even find nodes to farm hold them back for now, as well as a distinct lack of meaningful milestones to work towards (WHY do I need to make silver bars? WHY do I want ash logs?) The player should be motivated to level skills because there's something they want from them, not just because number go up and maybe you get something nice. Not saying that those milestones don't exist, but I found myself leveling the skill and then finding them, rather than being drawn into the skill by them. BAD: Melee combat is serviceable, but there is something off about it. Hits register before animations play, it's not clear when an animation is being cancelled, and certain weapons get to abuse this more than others. I feel like a lot of what makes the melee feel wack is a lack of clarity and feedback. (Am I swinging my sword right now? Does that prevent me from blocking? When can I swing again? Why can't I shove right now, when I could with a shortsword?) Given how early it still feels, this may get touched up in the future, but my experience tells me that often things that should be fixed in EA simply aren't by the time 1.0 drops, so I wouldn't hold my breath on a melee rework. Also, content feels sparse (although there are a lot of things to do that you simply aren't pointed to) and glitches are to be expected. I got locked out of a vendor because I accepted his quest that relied on the old weaponsmithing system, but that's to be expected because the weaponsmithing rework had just released. Occasionally I got stuck in some tree branches but could unstuck pretty easily. I'm aware some of these issues are just a me thing. "I didn't intuitively understand X" or "I didn't see a reason to Y" or "Z was not presented to me in a way I would have liked" so your mileage may vary. Most of this review is just a letter to the dev about my experience with the game. Overall I feel like I still really want to play this game but I know that if I come back later it'll be a much better experience. Really looking forward to see where it ends up.

SO! it is still early days for this game. but i gotta say, that the CRAFTSMANSHIP of this game is simply unparalleled. there is one guy goin ham on the programming. while seemingly everyone who has played it waits with baited breath on his every coding drop. bugs galore. unfinished. unpolished. incomplete. and still oh so glorious. IF you are interested in watching a truly beautiful and amazing game come together in real time built by one game building artist, well, you found THE title to do it with. seriously your not gonna find a better one out there. go on. go buy it.(makes shooing motions) its not that expensive. ps there is a small chance it could all come crashing down. its just one dude. one dude can make a mistake and flush an entire game. just you know be aware.

Even after 2+ years, the game still has frustrating bugs that make gameplay difficult and annoying. For example, sometimes for no reason the weapon skills hotbar bind buttons will disappear and you can't activate skills in combat until you swap the bars around. Also, the grappling function will just stop working until you leave the zone or restart the game. I can forgive that some content has not yet been added, because that takes time, but frustrating UI bugs after 2 years is a bad look.

Hands Down the Sickest Game Around. Since this game is all made by one guy, I've watched how much this dudes put into it. I played it for a year ago, and decided recently to boot it up, and wow! There's definetly a difference. Game runs a lot better. Tons more area. Needs more dialog and more diverse npcs, but the fact only one guy made this, its insane. The amount of skilling and questing there is sick, and am excited for eventually higher level spells and abilities, but its fun af for right now to mix and match. Def worth getting!

I've been having a lot of fun so far. You can adjust to your play style and make it what you want. I've been enjoying "low poly" games and this hits the mark on so many levels. I look forward to a better inventory management system. I currently don't think you can sort inventory. I do enjoy not having weight limits as that typically turns into a running sim mid-late game.

This game kind of looks like unreal engine slop, having close to default graphics and synty asset packs. But it is nothing of such. There is a lot of cool systems and mechanics here. Now there currently is A LOT of minor bugs, at worst requiring me to re-enter an area. Performance is either great or poor, kind of a coin toss, like it might be a memory leak. Entering the overworld fixes it most of the time. I have a hard time picking out inspirations from the game, its fairly unique. There's a little elder scrolls, a little mount and blade I can't wait to see how it continues to form.

You can throw a shield at a rabbit, kick a goblin into the atmosphere, nuke a bandit, all within a few seconds, and then fly away on a magic broomstick. In all seriousness, this is an excellent game with a very dedicated developer. Of course it's in early access and a lot of systems are basic, with a very simple and unfinished storyline, but even at the moment this game is still completely playable and works well. There are tens of hours of fun here and the potential is unlimited. Solid 8/10, 100% worth it on sale. I hope that after all the main systems are finished and polished, the main story will be developed and more importantly I hope that this game gets very very populated by NPC's with unique and fun side quests around every corner. This game has the chance to be better than Skyrim, Runescape, and every other game it takes inspiration from.

If you just like being a loot goblin, then this game is 100% worth the on-sale-price-tag. There are quite a few sidequests for being Early Access; in fact, I'd say that 90% of my playtime has just been exploring the cities & zones. So far, I feel that I have been rewarded for exploring and not progressing the main quest. I honestly have only encountered one persistent bug (having hands stuck in a constant, previous animation that prevents interacting), and it can be fixed with a quick save + reload. However, it does happen multiple times over the course of a few hours. My largest complaint with the game comes from quest markers. As a WoW player, quest logs have been solved since 2008, so it's an element of friction for me. More often than not, the waypoints disappear for a quest & you'll have to resort to reading the journal for quest details. This isn't a problem if you don't multitask quests, but it gets further discombobulated by the fact that completed objectives show at the quest objective's location (not the quest giver). My second largest complaint would maybe be the performance, I have a PC from 2019 that was solid when I built it, but I find my game stuttering down to sub-30fps in specific encounters that have multiple units. For the fidelity of the game, I feel like my PC shouldn't be going space heater mode over this game with a 60fps cap. The rest of the game is awesome, and I'm especially excited to see the implementation of more guilds/guild systems. The combat abilities/spells are very enjoyable too.

It feels kind of bad giving this game a negative review. It has a lot of interesting ideas, but just isn't done. It needs a ton of refinement to the core game loop and what exactly the player is supposed to be doing on loop. A lot of aspects, like the menus and UI aren't organized or concise enough to handle the breadth of stuff going on. Seems like it could be a good game with a lot of work, and it's still being worked on, but I wouldn't buy it as-is.

The Bloodline feels like what you'd get if RuneScape stepped into a first-person world, open-ended, flexible, and full of promise. You’re free to shape your character however you like, whether through combat or non-combat skill progression, and there’s a rewarding sense of agency in deciding what kind of adventurer you want to become. That said, the game’s freedom can sometimes become a double-edged sword. Quest tracking is minimal, which might appeal to exploration purists, but it also means simple objectives (like finding a bug in a tree) can become more frustrating than immersive. The pacing can feel uneven early on, and while there’s charm in carving your own path, the lack of structure or onboarding may push some players away before they hit their stride. Still, there's something special here. The world has enough surprises to reward curiosity, and the foundation is strong. With a bit more refinement, particularly in quest clarity and tutorial design, The Bloodline could become a standout experience in the open-ended RPG space. This is worth keeping on your radar.

I dream of a game. My whole life i had been searching for a game that is my favorite. All games are good, but not good enough to put 100,000 hours into in my eyes. I dream of a medieval style rpg in which truly expands your ability to immerse yourself. I started discussing the mechanics with my friend last week, and we decided its a game that is EXACTLY LIKE THIS. I LOVE YOU PEOPLE. I know its a stretch but the only thing i could ever ask more of this masterpiece is spellcrafting/weaving

The concepts are brilliant. The free-building needs a lot of polish and seems to be still quite rough. Sadly you have to keep reloading the saves every couple of minutes because the weapon in your hand and your character keeps bugging out to the point where you can't really continue playing properly. I'll give it a thumbs up once it's fixed.

The game is fun and has a lot of quality of life features that I would like to see in other games. Simple things like cutting down trees or mining without having to select or even repair the respective tool, for example. Reskilling is also particularly easy, as you can simply redistribute the skill points. The quests are good and building your own village reminds me of the time when I could build my own castle in Might and Magic. The game still has bugs, the individual skill trees are not all finished yet and various planned features are still missing in the Early Access version. The developer responds to requests immediately and is very helpful. I'm excited to see what the future holds for “The Bloodline”!

The game is a bit scuffed but that's to be expected for early access games. The gameplay makes you actually feel like a fantasy adventurer though. What I like most about the game is the ability to craft guns. I find it very funny to one shot fantasy creatures with ye olde flintlock.

I think this game has a ton of potential and the dev obviously cares and is doing what they can at the moment, that being said I just can't recommend it as it exists right now. The game has TONS of bugs, some of which are game breaking, and it's not playable beyond about an hour or so each start up. The content that's here is really good, but some skill and combat trees are very lacking while some seem to be focused on more heavily than others. The world itself is interesting and I like the environments and idea of a sort of Mount and Blade map system, and the structures and towns are neat, but many of them are simply empty and have nothing to do, and if they do have something to do it is most likely broken/unfinished and therefore not playable. As I said, the game has tons of potential and I think the dev is trying their hardest, but this game needs a LOT more dev time and potentially an actual larger studio behind it to make everything work and to get more content into it that isn't jank and buggy. I'll play it when it's infinitely more stable, has more fleshed out (and more) content, and is ultimately out of the alpha state it's been in for a while.

The Dev is constantly working on things and keeps making active changes by reports of issues. Game itself is a good World Explorer, which implements a nice system of combat, including magic and weaponry. TBH, it's openness is one of the reasons why I like it. It may be difficult and time consuming to travel sometimes, but they already have options for explorers to fast travel with in-game items as well as a "taxi" service XD So, as of right now, I highly suggest it, if you like the look of it and like the idea of playing a game they are working on, but working on ACTIVELY

The game is: - Enjoyable even in current state - Very buggy - Very wide, but quite shallow - Currently extremely easy - Not really an open world game, it's more like instanced prefab areas that you load into through an open world. The game looks alright considering it's premade assets (especially the Synty character assets). Overall the world was interesting to explore, and some areas were pretty enough. Animations are very good considering the premade assets used here. It's fun punting goblins off cliffs. Combat overall is OK (Skyrim, but faster and more verticality), but needs some UX overhaul at least when it comes to player awareness of close by in-combat enemies. Enemy AI is very dumb though, which is somewhat hidden beneath the character animations. A lot of the skills feel useless, or just rehashed versions of other skills in the same tree. Would be better if there were less skills, and some sort of skill customization instead. Now we have amazing choices such as "Swing your sword to deal damage & cause bleed", or "swing your sword to deal a bit more damage and no bleed". Or 3 different types of dash attack. The grappling wire skill makes all of the platforming elements pointless. It also makes all traversal feel like a chore, because it's way faster to use the wire than run from place to place. Premade levels are quite big, but also extremely barren. The main set pieces are there, but there's really nothing to find there yet. There are a lot of these points of interest that have nothing to offer, and I feel like we will be waiting for them to be filled for a long time. Default run speed is way too slow for the size of the levels. Combine that with armor slowing you down, and traversal becomes unbearable. The extremely slow stamina recovery doesn't help, and I've pumped all my points into Dexterity to make it faster. Mounts (and companions) are accessed through your inventory and you need to spawn them in every time you load an area. This is awful UX, especially when traversal sucks. The game runs alright on a mid-high end PC. Some FPS drops in certain areas. The ESC key should instantly close any top level menu I have open. I should not be forced to use my mouse to close the pause menu that is opened by the ESC key itself. There are a lot of this sort of weird UI/UX things, that I'm sure the dev is aware of, but I'm afraid -- due to the amount of them -- is not gonna be able to fix them all. Being an open ended game, you can just run to the most difficult areas and do the silly "go here, talk to this thing, get insane reward" quests to basically break any semblance of progression. Mount controls are super weird. I think the best mount has to be the flying broom, since the controls for that are on point. The dragon on the other hand... yeesh.

This is one of those games who's store page intro movie does not do this game justice! Hard to believe this title is still considered early access. Did you enjoy the freedom of exploration in Elder scrolls? The learn by doing in Rune Scape? (You want to level up Jumping? JUMP! Blacksmithing? Go make some weapons! Wall Running? There's a wall over there!) Throw in the fact that while exploring the overworld you can have random events pop up near by you get a game that doesn't feel stale and makes exploration far more inviting. Got this while it was on sale but hands down 110% i would have paid full price for this!

So far, every big update has added a lot of content and with the most recent one, some very cool customization. getting to choose any path, and getting to level up individual skills as you just do things make this game very special. I can't wait for the story to become more fleshed out. If you're on the fence, please give this one a chance. It's worth it.

It's as full of content as it is janky. And the jank is stroooooong with this one. However, thankfully, this developer seems to understand this and makes solving most of these problems very easy. Overall this feels like it was a game made by someone who is so full of ideas and creativity and cultural references that it spills out of his brain and into this game faster than he can bug-fix it. And I'm on board 100%. This is obviously a labor of love and is updated frequently enough that I keep it in my library and anxiously await it's little name to turn blue so I can see if he finally finished some of those (Work in progress) areas. Until then, I'm going to enjoy my time shooting a jet of fire out of one hand then pulling the blood out of a goblin, turning that blood into a spear, and then throwing it through that same goblin. Then imma blow his corpse up all over his little friends teehee.

This game is too raw and unpolished for now, too many bugs and inconsistencies. Author clearly don't know yet what direction he wants to go. The game has some potential, but again - it's some kind of an alpha version. Can't recommend this to anyone (except some masochistic experimentators like me). I recommend to wait a few years and check on it - if it still lives by that time then maybe it's worth it. But today it's not. (2025.06.15)

The graphics are somewhat charming, but it's immediately clear from the first few fights that this game simply won't be enjoyable. Combat is very jittery and buggy (enemies abruptly stop in front of you, archers shoot you facing the other way, etc.) and the controls are not intuitive at all

Too early, even for early access. Lots of bugs. Empty and boring.

You can replicate Spiderman from Marvel Rivals, including the uppercut and doublefisted hammer. I've been Chuck Norrising my way across fields with the flying kick and sending deer into orbit. Sure, it aint done, but I'm having a blast experimenting with the combat sandbox.

Haven't played much, looks like lots of potential but is there a custom spell creation system? Because there aren't many spells and there should be

This game obviously has a lot of bugs and still need a lot to fix. However, I would say that this game has potential to fun and worthwhile to play in the long run. With that said, the concepts, features and mechanics of this game is a mixture of various games similar to Skyrim, Runescape and even Terarria at one point. I know that I'll love this game now and forever until it is complete as well as grow.
