Forgotton Anne

Forgotton Anne is one of my favorite games -- it's in my collection of the Greatest Stories -- for a couple reasons. the art style is lovely & nostalgic, it reminds me of the animated films i would watch growing up. the plot isn't perfect, but serves as a decent background for some good puzzles and especially the *worldbuilding,* and what a magnificent world it is: the first time i played this game, years ago, before i had my Steam account (i got a free trial of Apple Arcade on my mother's iPad), i wandered through every exploreable little back alley & room in the game, looking for secrets & treasures & people to meet, mementos to pick up. speaking of, Anne's diary is a great mechanic. the illustrations inside are so charming. and now i won't reveal the ending, but this game does have a surprising amount of replayability. Anne herself becomes such a hero -- but exactly how is up to you.
