NOT A HERO AKA NOT A HERO: GLOBAL MEGALORD EDITION is a pretty good action shooter game and another great game published by Devolver Digital, now the story.
Politicians they all promise many things like increasing medical coverage, decreasing housing prices and most importantly reducing crime, but like all politicians they lie through their teeth, all except this one bunny. Bunny lord promises to put an end to crime by shooting it in the fucking face with the help of his fan club, a bunch of degenerates, weirdos and crazy douchebags, so he can become super megalord, why, well as he puts it in order to save the Earth from some weird Apocalypse in the future.
Okay then the likes, the gameplay is very good it’s pretty simple complete the main mission and do little side missions in order to get a better score as you shoot up the bad guys, it’s also the right balance of hard but fair, you will die a lot but it doesn't feel impossible you just have to come up with a good strategy and take your time, you can also pick different characters to play as, as each one has their own different skills and depending on the level you're in one character will be better than the other, it's up to you to figure it out, so encourages you to experiment a little bit.
The story is good it's goofy, hyper and bombastic basically it's a parody of all kinds of political stuff without necessarily picking which side it's on, it can be kind of funny sometimes it does have one problem though, but I'll get to that in the dislikes. The pixel graphics art style is very good it's simple yet detailed with some great uses of colors, designs and animation especially how it animates blood it just goes to show what you can do with simple pixels.
The levels are good each one is a little diverse with some nice locations; it’s obvious that they reused the scenery but they restructured the designs in order to keep it interesting and to make sure not one level looked the same.The characters are good bunny Lord is a funny and weird guy and the other characters you play have interesting designs and pretty funny dialogue and some cool one-liners.
The music is very good with plenty of great tracks that fits the action-oriented game quite well. The voice acting was good, each voice actor feels pretty solid in their acting skills. Now in the old days of this game there was DLC you could buy, but the DLC you could purchase has been now removed but don't worry it's not gone, in this new edition all the DLC is in here.
So the DLC in this game is really good like not only do we get a soundtrack DLC we also get voiceover work from the different characters we get, an art book which was very good as we can learn a little bit of the history of the game we also get a prequel comic which I read and it was very good. We also get an extra campaign mode where we get to play as BunnyLord himself, it was cool to see how he plays.
Okay then the dislikes, now the game does have a good bit of a crashing problem like sometimes the game would just stop working and an error message would pop up, that happened to me quite a lot it didn't happen when I was like playing a level but it did happen like when I sometimes died or when I was in the character selection part. Also would have liked to be able to play this game in full screen mode.
Lastly I said there was a problem with the story and that is in its dialogue, it goes a little too fast sometimes, I would have preferred a way to either slow down dialogue or have an option where if you want to get to the next dialogue sentence you hit a button.
Okay with that all done NOT A HERO AKA NOT A HERO: GLOBAL MEGALORD EDITION is a pretty good action shooter game and another great game published by Devolver Digital; it has very good gameplay, a good story and a very good pixel graphics art style. I recommend getting this game if you're looking for a simple hard but fair action game then you would actually enjoy this and again, it's published by Devolver Digital and most of the games they publish are really good.
