Hardcore should not mean extremely unfair fights. Not everybody has the patience to replay a game zillon times to maybe get a chance to adequatly prepare for opponents coming one after another with ridiculously high stats and most armed to teeth . RNG is set completely against you in this game. Actually I LOVE games harshly realistic but this is something different. In real life there are good events as well as unfortunate events. This aspect is mostly ignored. Especially in Chapter 4 where as a soldier returning from war and now civilian, you are stripped off most of the things and gains you owned so far both equipment and skillwise. And without a chance for adequate recovery you will be exposed to one deadly enemy after another in order to continue the main story. I dont have patience for games ridiculously hard souls-like wannabe like this.

I was initially reluctant to buy and play the game due to the graphics and overall perceived “jank” of the game. I’m lucky that I was bored and desperate enough to buy and play it. I’m now hooked, the gameplay loop and depth of the game is great. Though lacking in some QOL. This will become one of my favorite roguelite games. I’m really only posting a review so that maybe others will be convinced and buy the game, and thereby supporting the developers.

Hidden gem, one of my favorite games. So much replay-ability. Satisfying and punishing gameplay. Choices matter

This game is really good. I keep coming back to it and enjoying it. The game should only be played on the hardest difficulty, as that is the entire rogue lite system. Otherwise, you're basically demoing the game. Really fun leveling up my profile and enjoying starting the game stronger and stronger and watching the story change as I am finally able to defeat different enemies. This game is cheap enough to 100% recommend for someone that just wants a nice relaxing chilled out rogue lite.

Utterly infuriating. Only one difficulty offers the rougelike experience, and its RNJesus to the extreme.Lot of grinding. Lot of repetition. No payoff. Over 1000 character creation points and cant even get past chapter 2. 84% hit rate might as well mean 0. Would have liked to level up my character on a lower difficulty rating, but somehow the creator forgot a game is supposed to be fun. Balancing challenge and reward. there is no reward here. Only buy this game if you hate yourself

The game honestly surprised me and reminds me a lot of an old flash game called swords and sandals, if you know you know such a great game back then.

ARE YOU INSANE? THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN EXISTENCE FOR THE PRICE. JUST BUY IT. unless its not your cup of tea, but if RPG medieval combat or good story and a hell of a lot of customisation is your thing then JUST BUY IT, its like 2$, JUST DO IT.

Great game. Came here after playing A Legionary's Life and was looking for something similar. My only problem with it is you are very limited to the amount of points you can spend for your stats/items to start with. I end up having nearly 30k in money after maxing out every stat, getting all the items I need, and maxing virtue/prestige/weapon/civic and end up still having lots of trouble with easy enemies, by lots of trouble I mean the RNG being on their side and having me miss 90%+ all the time. One of the biggest appeals of roguelikes is starting OP and steamrolling the content that gave you so much trouble and this game essentially only lets you dip a toe into the pool that is OPness and still makes you struggle even with the best possible setup you can begin with. 8/10

It is not a game for everyone, since it is text based, but you do have choices in how you respond to a situation. Combat is brutal and is totally dependent on the "die roll". I have been getting my ass handed to me and am a glutton for punishment since I keep coming back for more. Note the main story line does not change and can become tedious after having to restart every time you are killed, which is often. I have a few hours in the game and there are still plenty of bugs in the game. It can be frustrating when a bug prevents you from accomplishing a task or goal. One would hope the developers would still be monitoring the reviews and discussion board and address issues. From reading the reviews and discussion board after the last patch problems persist or new problems arose. There is one thing that puzzles me, in the settings there is one for speech volume and as far as I can tell this is a text-based game with the only sound being the background music. Still a fun game, but there is a frustration factor.

Very nice. overall, i like it. i wish there was a way to read the endings that i got without replaying the game, but other than that, me likey the beginning will be slow and brutal, but if you play in HWR difficulty, and you play a couple times, youll find that meta progression in this game is actually pretty forgiving. if youre particularly lucky and strategic, youll be able to get a solid character by your fourth game.

Absolutely fantastic RPG. I highly reccomend playing HWR mode as soon as you understand the basics of the game. It is super hard, but very rewarding to level up from a bumpkin to a full fledged knight. This will take a lot off time, but that is OK as there are many endings to find.

Live. Die. Repeat! Approach it with an impression of a simple NSFW game, turn out to be one of the best games I've ever played. The difficulty is unforgiving, but the game mechanic gave you options to do it all over again, stronger each time, and with each choice come different results. I've had fun played out all routes possible. Most Renpy games are just simple text based, light novel style, but this game had turn out to be a full-fledged RPG, medieval adventure experience. Of course, the game can use a little balancing, better writing or expansion on its storylines, but the state of it now is already enjoyable. With a very reasonable price, this game deserves a spot in your library. If you're into Soulslike and CK3 roleplay, this is The Game for you.

Great roguelike, incredibly replayable with so many different twists and turns when it comes to story, different fighting styles, many equipment types, immersive historical setting. I did not finish the game as of yet but I am getting closer, still there is like 30+ different endings. Definetely play on Heads Will roll diffuculty. Combat can get some getting used to, at first it looks super simple but there is some complexity especially later in the game. It is not an easy game.

Quite a surprise how much fun this game is. A hidden little gem of a tactical turn-based RPG about going from rags to riches(?) during wartime. Played on the rogue-like mode it's brutal in the beginning but really fun as you gain power and get to try new builds. There's a story mode, though I'm not really sure that the game would have been as fun for me without the rogue-like elements. Played for a dozen hours or so and still just getting through chapter 3 chipping away and learning what works, what doesn't, and hoping for the best.
