It's a simple bullet hell with a good amount of challenge. There's just the one level and two tracks to listen to that, while catchy, will get old pretty fast because you're going to be hearing them a lot. Don't expect much. It's fun but there's not very much to it, so I'd definitely wait for a sale before buying.

Survivor-likes have left an indelible mark upon your soul, and you are now cursed to try them all. As another user put it, bullet heaven brainrot is an apt description for this genre, and 9th Sentinel is no exception. There’s nothing groundbreaking about it. You collect weapons and passives, then take what you earn after succeeding or failing and buy permanent upgrades. Get used to the score, get used to certain weapons being ass, and oh right, the game might also be abandoned. Still interested? Outstanding. At first, it’s going to feel like you’re playing the same sortie over and over without much progress. You are Tom Cruise in a doomed timeline, destined to make the same mistakes over again until something clicks. You get to the same stage node, get swarmed by gold enemies, and nothing takes any damage. You are an imbecile, like me. You didn’t grind upgrades for all your passives. You did no due diligence in finding weapons that are not complete butt cheeks(laser, missile, drill etc). You did not main Saika. Seriously, what is wrong with you? Put this mech thing in reverse my guy. The game is short, hella short. There’s only 1 scenario with about 10 very familiar stages, and not much choice in pilots. You can take the one gal who doesn’t suck, or one of the other two. Upgrades will be a slog. I’m trying to tie up a few of the more expensive ones myself as of writing. That being said I’m still having fun jumping in, getting my bullet nut off, then pulling out. The formula works even in this bare bones state. Buyer beware this is a FLAWED entry in the bullet heaven conundrum of non-gameplay gameplay, but if you’re willing to look past its shortcomings then this is a bargain on sale. There is a few hours of investment in grinding passives and weapon levels before it gets going. Is that perfect? No, but it’s what we’ve got. Who knows? The game might get updated again. You could also not buy it. Stand on your principles and don’t reward devs for delivering half baked goods. Or maybe, big maybe, you join the dark side. We have Saika, rank 10 assault rifle, gold mods, and the shortest gameplay loop ever. Yeah, I said it. Eat your heart out Half Minute Hero(ok not really).
