I bought this after reading the other positive reviews; unfortunately, I've had to give it the thumbs down for 2 main reasons.
Firstly, the black background isn't at all black, it's a really grainy dark grey (looks like colour palette has been reduced to 256 colours and badly dithered).
But the 2nd issue is the fact that upon exit, Kaspersky went crazy, saying that malware was on my computer (it detected fw.exe, which is the executable for this software) contained a trojan, and promptly deleted it.
The fact that this hasn't even been out for a week, and it's being flagged as dangerous by antivirus an program means that this hasn't been tested by enough people on enough platforms to confirm if it's a false detection by my security software. But I'd rather not take any chances.

I really want to recommend this software as it can create some amazing visuals however there are several issues that make it less than ideal for use as a permanent wallpaper.
The main issue is that as long as it is running, Steam will pick it up as an active game which it definitely isn't. This is a background application (literally) that shouldn't alert anyone that it is running as it is almost never going to be the application the user is actively interacting with. I'd rather have friends know what game I'm playing instead of what wallpaper I have set.
My other main complaint is how janky this software is when starting up or transitioning state from active to inactive. The application should start up in the background with the window hidden and the desktop background should then transition to the fluid simulation rather than whatever you have set in the Windows settings. The on screen items should fade in gently to make this even less jarring and this application could even use the wallpaper set in Windows as the background for the simulation. I don't want to see windows pop up all over the place with the software's logo as it sorts out the correct resolution.
When suspending the simulation to allow games to play smoothly the current simulation should fade out and leave either the blank scene or the default Windows wallpaper. Currently it shows a logo with text stating that the application is pausing which doesn't look great at all as it often isn't even centered properly and isn't something anyone wants as a desktop wallpaper.
Overall, if this application truly ran in the background and seamlessly enabled itself and seamlessly transitioned from enabled to disabled I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a cool animated wallpaper. As it stands, this is more of a sandbox toy than an actual usable product which is unfortunate as it is clear a lot of effort has gone into the development of the actual simulation. I just wish for more polish from the user experience aspect of this product.

Awesome! 10/10
The sliders for High Gate and Bass Gate will probably need to be slid to the left a bit to detect most songs' sounds. I chose Cold for the High Gate, Full for Mid Gate, and Hot for Bass Gate. It is great with most songs that I've tried.

This... is immediately the greatest thing ever. 8/10. Would be 10/10 if you could select the color palette for the clicks and have a little more options.
Another idea would be to allow the color changes to match up to peoples RGB software. That would be a 15/10 experience.

Beautiful colors, great animations, works without a problem, and most importantly, it doesn't overload the computer and you can play games.

This a wonderful master piece at it's finest. A must have for any fan of PC Live Wallpaper. Beautiful to watch on your screen. Simple to understand and use. It's less than £3.00 on Steam. So go on give it a try.

I havent seen anything else like it.
Unique. And it's at a cheap price! give it a try!
my 65' 4k tv looks like a big lava lamp / acid trip
great for ambient music, or loud af. Or no music at all.
Really does a great light show.
For the price is great. I use it alot. the updates have really made it alot better.

Its ok, for day to day, what i mean is, you cant save any preset or settings you have done, if you play a game that requires full screen (DESPITE THE FACT YOU UNTICK THE BOX THAT SAYS "Stop when playing FULL-SCREEN games) it will still stop and wipe every setting you have set.
You have to reset all your settings every single day you start your fucken computer, stupid cunt wont save the settings YOU SET.
If it did, than, primo fucken wallpapers but because it does not! fuck this fucken wallpaper app thing

This wallpaper app is trash. It doesn't open half the time, the other half the time the settings you have saved change themselves and make the visuals not work. I wouldn't buy this again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because there is no support for when the overwhelmingly unstable app fails to perform correctly.

There is an app on my android phone called Fluid by Pavel Dobryokov that I bought. The developer needs to check it out and make this program more like that app. This needs more work. Try the android app and you will agree. I am not affiliated with that android app or the developer. I just would like this to work better than it does, But it is interesting.

I would've given a more in-depth interface for music interaction, and the beats seem to be a little off when the program "hears" it (i.e: miss-timed rhythm or extra notes), but overall i'm pleased with it for the low price. I'll probably use it for awhile until a cooler wallpaper option comes along. Read some of the negative reviews but they were just complaints for the sake of complaining, it's cheap enough to buy yourself and make your own mind up. Cheers!

I like that it can launch on startup. It has enough customization too. What I don't like, as a Windows 10 user, is there isn't a way to eliminate the box you create when you click and drag. The best thing you can do is go into Windows 10 settings and set the box to just be an outline instead of a translucent box, but that is the single biggest thing that kills this app.
Not recommended. Don't buy. Sarcasm obviously.
[b] In other news, this makes a great night light for me, personally. I sometimes have it running while I'm using my computer and it's actually quite beautiful. If you're really anal about things then yes, the black background isn't actually black, it's grainy and like a dark dark gray but you have to be up close to your monitor to see that. Otherwise, it's a great product. I love the music feature, basically like a rave goes off as the lights react to the music tempo, beat. [b]
[i] It's like RGB but for your monitor's panel. Luckily I have three of them and it's seemless with all three but you have the option to run it on one monitor if you wish to do so. [i]

this what really great until they updated it to where I cant customize the wallpaper or have a tab to change its settings after re downloading and installing. I understand that It may be better now but its so hard to change and find things that were there before making it much more stressful. I recommend when fixed.

I've always liked how lava lamps look, and this application lets me turn my desktop into one with a lot of detail. You can really mess with the properties of the simulated fluid to make it create different kinds of patterns, brightness, colors, etc.
Initially it had some problems but the devs keep working on it. I had to pause it when I was playing Cyberpunk 2077, but otherwise I can let it run and it doesn't really impact performance when playing other games.
Can't wait to try it with psychedelics and music at some point.

I started out with the demo and it was just what I was looking for. It is highly customisable and runs smoothly without taxing my computer too much. The fluid effects are mesmerising and delightful. I would highly recommend. I don't know if it is possible but it would be great as the screen saver rather than the desktop because you just want to have all your windows in one corner of the screen so you can watch it.

Probably the best bang for the buck I've ever had from a steam purchase. If you like lava lamps and things like it you'll enjoy this. I can and do watch it for ages. I love this thing! I'd put it on my wall on a 4k TV and just let it run if I could. I mean I actually might. 4k TV's are so cheap now that it seems kind of worthwhile.
The software takes some tweaking but it's fun figuring out how to set it up. Music response is super cool if you have the volume setting correct in the app. I use my iPad as a second screen and a lot of the time its just so I can still see the cool visuals from this while I do something else on my main screen.
Some feedback:
-Could "length" be even shorter?
-How about more customization so more stuff happens for faster songs and less for slow. Could it match the bpm of songs?
-For music interaction let me customize exact colors for Bass/Mid/Treble bands
-Better explanations of what each slider does
-Have you seen the Plane9 screensaver? I feel like your wallpaper and their screensavers could combine into something amazing.
Thanks for your amazing work!
-I'd like more than 4 presets. And let me rename them.
-It would be cool if I could set it to swap between presets randomly.
-This ones a serious longshot, but if my Philips hue lights could connect to this so my lights were the same colors as the wallpaper that would be amazing.
-Could you include a way to open this in a window?

Fluid Engine is beautiful with a lot of customization options. It responds well to music.
I am not very good at discovering settings that I like on my own, too much fussing around and my only complains is that there are not enough presets.
If you are having issues you may need to whitelist with your antivirus.

Setting it to react to music can be quite relaxing, at least for me, when I just want to turn my brain off for a little bit and sink into the colorful reactions created.

Very impressive & interactive wallpaper.
Everyone I've shown this to finds it as mesmerising as I do.
I haven't got it to react to music yet, but my friend has, so that's likely down to me.
I'd like to see the menu tweaked so I can dock the icon to the bottom right corner (if I do that now, I miss 3/4 the menu).
Or an option to hide the menu icon altogether, so I can have a clean desktop.
Eitherway, great product 👍

I updated my thumbs down to a thumbs up. Now that I can find the menu I have found it a little easier to use. Also I have it just in one of my monitors now - not across them all. The interface still needs work of course and I am keeping the text of the original comment below. I would recommend this as an animated background, especially enjoy watching it whilst listening to the Hollow Knight sound track.
[original review below]
The fluid engine is okay for the price. I paid for the other apps in the bundle and regret that decision. With regards to Fluid Engine, I have to give it thumbs down sadly, because although I like the effects it produces, it is simply not a polished product.
It is problematic on my dual monitor setup, and does not give me access to the menu. It can't be stopped from steam, and it does not tidy up nicely when forced to terminate through task manager (which I have to do due to lack of menu).
On a single monitor setup I do get access to the menu but the interface is a bit "slippery" and selecting settings hard and not intuitive.
It is heavy on resources.
In summary:
1. As a moving wallpaper it is okay for the price - very pleasing.
2. The usability needs way more polish.
3. Multi-monitor support needs vast improvement.
4. It is heavy on power usage.
5. Don't bother with anything other than Fluid Engine (don't buy the bundle).
Sadly I do not see me launching this often much in the future.

edit: I haven't gotten it to work in over a year, and the suggested fix seems outdated.

It's a nice, fully interactive wallpaper! It looks smooth, and very relaxing. There are a lot of options. Your mouse leaves a trail of liquid paint.
It's a bit complicated to install, follow the directions.

The mouse reactions are nice, but there is little to NO music reaction in this, little is actually a over statement. The visuals look cool, but not random enough imo, its just a directional color injection over and over again. Options only change small things about that. The presets the app has for music don't react with anything that I have tried. I spent too much time in the app, trying mess with setting and get visuals to react with anything that plays music, so now i don't get to refund.

Absolutely awesome! The dev/s have done an amazing job and in my opinion in its current state (15/9/2020) it is definitely worth the price and there should be no bad reviews, it does exactly as it says it does. I 100% recommend.

I bought this wallpaper in a package with two other wallpaper apps. (Music Visualizer Engine PC Live, and Energy Engine PC Live Wallpaper). All three crash Windows 10, and have bad glitches, like refusing to quit when I try to close the application. They are beautiful, though.

I'm loving it. It runs smoothly, I have no issues and I really love blending colours just for fun. Would reccomend if you want somthing cool, not just boring static wallpaper. Customization is also there, if I want bright and vibrant colors, I can; if I want somthing more darker for night, I can. And You can save your presets too.
