Broken Sword 4 - the Angel of Death (2006)

I'm a big fan of the series and have overlooked some janky mechanics in earlier games but this one is a bit of a chore to play, long sections of dialogue are unskippable even if you've heard them six times already, there are multiple platforming sections with opaque controls. Unfortunately for a point & click game lots of intuitive item combinations get standard "I'm not going to do that" messages with no imagination going in to predicting things players might try. But the kiss of death is a soft lock revealed almost at the very end of the game that's triggered hours earlier; whatever you do, don't burn the Topkapi map, but better than that don't play at all.

Classic broken sword with better graphics and story line. Some clues are still weird but overall great.
