Gold standard implementation of a board-game, I would say it is a better experience than the board game in totality. 9.5/10
The challenges are fantastic addition.
Music is immersive. Sunk 200+ hours into this with my friends.
The QOL features are quite lacking. E.g. Game-play statistics, match history, replays, etc.

My favourite board game ever and an awesome digital implementation. Have many hours on the physical game and on the mobile version, love that the DLC's transfer between platforms.

Dune: Imperium on Steam offers a compelling blend of deck-building and worker placement mechanics wrapped in the rich and immersive universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The gameplay revolves around managing your hand of cards and strategically placing agents to gather resources, gain influence with powerful factions, and ultimately dominate the board. Each round pushes you to make tough decisions about where to commit your limited agents and which cards to play, creating a satisfying loop of planning and adaptation that keeps every playthrough fresh.
The digital version stays very true to the physical board game, preserving its depth while streamlining many of the fiddly parts that can slow down tabletop sessions. AI opponents provide a challenging experience, especially in solo mode, and matches tend to be brisk, usually wrapping up in around 20 minutes. The game strikes a nice balance between accessibility and complexity, offering tutorials and challenge modes that help newcomers get comfortable with the layered mechanics without feeling overwhelmed.
Visually, the game leans into a clean, thematic design that echoes the harsh and mysterious world of Arrakis. The card artwork draws inspiration from recent film adaptations, adding a cinematic flair without overpowering the gameplay with clutter. Sound effects and background music subtly enhance the mood, immersing you in the political intrigue and desert struggle at the heart of the Dune saga. While some users find the interface a bit crowded on smaller screens, especially when juggling multiple factions and cards, the overall presentation feels polished and intuitive, with solid controller support on Steam Deck and other platforms.
The heart of the game lies in juggling multiple strategic layers—building a strong deck to unlock powerful abilities, choosing which factions to ally with, and carefully deciding where to place agents on the board each turn. This interplay creates a rich decision space that rewards both short-term tactics and long-term strategy. Engaging with the four main factions—Emperor, Spacing Guild, Bene Gesserit, and Fremen—adds a compelling narrative flavor and meaningful gameplay variation. Although some players mention occasional imbalance with certain cards or stagnation in the market row, these issues rarely detract from the overall engaging experience.
Community feedback on Steam and other platforms is overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the game as one of the best digital board game adaptations available. The AI is frequently highlighted for its competitiveness, and the user interface receives commendation for being clear and functional. Some players admit that the tension of the game can feel intense, especially when battles come down to a razor-thin margin, but this pressure adds to the excitement rather than detracts from it. Ongoing expansions and updates continue to deepen the experience, offering new factions and mechanics that keep the game evolving.
For fans of strategic board games or those looking for a rich deck-building challenge with thematic depth, Dune: Imperium is an excellent pick on Steam. It manages to be both accessible and complex, providing rewarding gameplay whether you’re solo or playing with others online. Minor UI quirks and balancing nuances exist but are far outweighed by the game’s tight design and immersive atmosphere. Conquering the political and military struggles of Arrakis through clever resource management and sharp decision-making makes for a deeply satisfying experience that stands out in the digital board game space.

I loved the board game so much I bought the video game. Was surprised to see how polished this game is, and how good the AI is for what feels like such a complex system. Probably the best board game I've played in general, and the best board game-> video game adaptation I've played too. I will say the Rise of Ix DLC feels necessary for what to me is the "full" game experience, but even the base game is fantastic.

In comparison with other ways to play this game, this is by far the fastest way. It's also great to be able to get in a game against AI opponents if you don't have anyone to play with. The mobile app is pretty nice, too.

Well thought out online adaptation of the board game. Super easy setup, good explanation of rules.
Only feedback is that it would be nice to have more indicators of the potential to pass before completing actions that can be taken like trashing a card in play.

Really good digital adaptation of a great game. The digital adaptation offers challenges (with a new set per expansion) that are very fun and really change up the normal game-play. Most of my time so far has been completing the challenges.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

A great adaption of the board game Dune Imperium. A tightly built game that primarily uses worker placement and secondarily uses a marketplace for deck building.
Both expanses of Ix and Immortality alter the gameplay in interesting ways.

Best digital adaptation of a board game I've played yet. Has everything I want: great tutorial, fun challenges, online matchmaking/ranking system, and even an additional interesting mode in Skirmish. I'm scared about how many hours I'm going to end up dumping into this game.

This game works great.
It has an easy initial learning curve of the mechanics.
You can develop several strategies to win, take care of early-mid-late game in various ways, and overall always discover improvements to your playstyle the more you understand it.
It is the kind of game that you can play over and over again and gets increasingly satisfying.
AI could be harder on max, but you can always play vs a special kind of rules called House Hagal (which can offer more difficulty) or Online.
The Challenges are fun and a great way to better understand the game's flexibility.

It has the occasional bug or graphic glitch but it is very fun if you are the builder/strategist type of gamer. If you are looking for RPG or Action, I would go somewhere else. If you like building a character, improving stats and levels and your card/powers deck and combining a good three man team for a strategy battle. This game is great and it has decent storytelling with some okay character interaction. I have completed the games storylines and still come back to it.

I played original board game and own Uprising. I eagerly wait for digital version for Uprising too.
The game is exceptionally well adapted and just so much fun to play.
An it's on mobile too and just as good. In any screen factor.

One of my favorite board games. It's a good digital implementation. They finally released Immortality, so now it's totally playable for me. If they add Bloodlines at some point, it will get even better.

One of the best implementation of a board game to a video game, applied to one of the best board games of all time (according to BGG). If you have ever expressed any interest in deckbuilding or worker placement, get this. It marries both PERFECTLY.

I very rarely rate games, but this is the best digital board game adaptation I've ever seen in over a decade of playing them. Dire Wolf hit it out of the park with this one.

For a Long time Dune Fan this is a great entry in it's vast media.
Playing Dune games from the past, having a drought for years, this game is challenging and thematically fitting.
Highly recommended for board game players and fans of Dune alike.
The presentation is very nice.

Dune: Imperium is one of my favorite board games, and I have 100s in my collection. There is nothing much original about it's design, but it is an exquisite mix of worker-placement, deck building, and player-vs-player conflict driven by a straight-forward intuitive VP system in which each VP is quite granular and quite a big deal. Hidden Intrigue cards allow for dynamic reversals and sudden come-from-behind victories.
Not everyone, but many consider the Rise of Ix expansion to elevate the game from very good to incredible. And I'm aligned with that opinion. I haven't been able to play Immortality enough to form a solid opinion, but generally the community feels that one is not as straightforward. I look forward to playing against the AI a lot to form my own take.

Probably one of the best board game to video game adaptations out there! If you love Dune and enjoy worker placement board games with a strong emphasis on strategy and deep mechanics, this will not disappoint.
I also recommend both of the DLCs available at the time of writing this review.

I've mostly played this on Ipad but I own it and all the expansions/dlcs on both steam, ios, and over the table. Played hundreds and hundreds of games. Watched tons of youtube to get better. Made me interested in the books and rewatching the movies. 10/10

Did not realise this was just a 1:1 of a board game in digital form. Honestly? It's incredibly technical on the jargon, the tutorial is a nightmare, it's visually and interactively boring, and would be much better as just an in person experience. If you love board games, or you've played the board game irl, I'm sure it's for you, but it's definitely not for me.

This is a boardgame that I played once that made me think "I really wish I could play this a lot more often, because there is so much to master", and this gives you exactly that: Capable AI opponents, online play, both realtime and turn-based, seasonal challenges and a really slick interface.
If you have never played this before, it also contains a really good tutorial that will have you gain full insight in the abstract play area in less than 20 minutes.

The problem with this kind of game in video format is that unless you *already* have friends with whom you have spent a significant amount of time playing the board game, you will get exactly nothing out of it. It is tedious and boring to try to remember or deduce rules and implications to the point that if you have never played the game before I would go as far as saying that the learning curve isn't steep because it doesn't even exist. It will take hundreds of hours of trial and error going back and forth between cryptic rules and the game play on your computer just to sort out what is going on and from there identify each set of specific rules that apply in each turn and from there identify what possibilities explain what just happened and from there identify what decisions might have been made for a better outcome (assuming you even know how to evaluate the outcome of the turn that just happened) and from there...well, hopefully you get the picture. If you haven't already played the board game a lot or if you don't have a bunch of friends with whom to play guessing game for 6 months several hours a week before actually playing the game itself, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME.

Honestly a VERY boring board game that a victory depends disproportionally on your luck, instead of strategy or calculation. The the FEW intrigue cards often decide who the winner is. Worst card game experience in a long time.
