Homefront

Funny story about me and Homefront—one day, at my grandpa’s funeral, I walked out because, well, you know... sadness. I took an 8-10 minute walk to my local GameStop, looked around, and then bam! I saw Homefront—the cool box artwork caught my eye. Then I noticed it had 32-player matches, and I was completely blown away, excited to play. After that, I went back to the funeral, and later that evening, I finally played the game when I got home. The next day, I just played the game all day, not really bothered by what was happening or by family members wanting me to attend the dinner. I know for a fact that if the dead could see, my grandpa wouldn’t be mad—he’d just smile and nod at me from wherever the dead are supposed to go. Love your loved ones deeply

An amazing game especially if you like games where america is the underdog, One of the best stories I've experienced and I loved this game back on the 360 and the game still has a small community of players that get on, just yesterday I had a game with 5 random people after waiting about 20 minutes. Please at the very least give the game a shot for the story. ALSO thank you so much Victor from Singapore for helping me get the multiplayer achievements, not sure I could have done it without you because since the community is so small now, it's extremely hard to do it 100% legitly by just playing the game like you used to be able to, now it requires grinding four hours so I'm thankful you were willing to do that with me.

Unsure of the 'Mixed Reviews' but the game holds up great with beautiful scenes, a fantastic amount of lore building, good fps mechanics. Sure it's somewhat cartoony / action-movie esque but overall a great fun game for a handful of hours. Would Recommend :)

Bad game. It's just not fun, you're basically forced to play act fully scripted scenes, it feels slow lumbering from set piece to set piece, not making any decisions at all, just shooting all enemies who show up and 'running' forward. Just don't bother wasting your time. It looks good and runs really well on any cheap modern hardware with integrated graphics, but the story, dialogue and action are all exceptionally subpar. It's a shame because the work that went into the level design and models really shows... but it is just not fun or interesting. Unfortunately I've had it in my library for some time so I can't get a refund, don't even bother for $2 get a snickers instead.

Got it in sale in a bundle. Really enjoyed Homefront: The Revolution on PS4 and I expected this to be a good-for-the-time game because of my experience with the second. I did not enjoy it. As mentioned in a recent review at the time of this one being written, the game is complete tonal whiplash. Most of it's shock value. The game isn't very well written, feels like there are a lot of plot holes. The gun-play in this first person shooter is iffy at best and abhorrent at worst. Animations are janky, movement feels floaty and unresponsive, sometimes even just removing your momentum. The "normal" difficulty doesn't feel like normal. The amount of grenades you can receive can rival World at War on Veteran. Damage numbers are tweaked so 5 shots kill you and sprinting is barely faster than walking. Don't bother with melee combat, you'd be better off just restarting from checkpoint instead. A lot of the game is sponsored ads. For example, you literally fight through a White Castle, which is a White Castle only in name. The ending isn't very good either. No spoilers, but it's just bad. Also, back to the GUNPLAY in this FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. The hitboxes are off, most guns are exclusive to certain levels, and the cover is busted as you'll often get shot from behind it regardless. You can get hit through walls, I am not joking. The game also goes out of it's way to try and like a main character who is shown to be nothing but a compulsive jerk to one of your squad-mates. It even tries to redeem him in that trash ending I mentioned. There's a stealth section. It is more of a "shoot when I say so and you automatically fail if you do it before that". That isn't stealth. There's a helicopter section that is, low and behold, janky. The game doesn't scale the map to the helicopter, so your tiny scouting helicopter is just really, really big. There are a few on-rails shooting segments that just suck balls to play. There's more I can mention, but it kinda just gets repetitive. There's worse you can do with $2, but there's also better. You can beat this in 5 hours or less by playing normally. I AFK'd a lot of that time, it's probably closer to 3. Can't recommend, sorry.

I typically enjoy action slop games from this era of gaming, but nothing about this game is done well. Apart from the intro of the game that did a great job of establishing an identity for homefront, it goes no where. The movement is floaty, all of the guns have zero recoil to them, weak hit registration, sound terrible and even when you change the fov using a mod your gun takes up almost half of the screen. Characters are paper thin, and don't have much personality at all, missions are as linear as it gets, enemies are not fun to fight, while the ai isn't the worst in the world they don't challenge you that much. I have low expectations when it comes to games like these and it can be fun playing them if you want to scratch the itch of the fps games of the early 2010s, but if the core fps gameplay, the thing you are going to be doing for 90% of the game isn't at least decent, then its going to be miserable to play. Yes I've played Homefront: The Revolution, and i would highly suggest you play that game instead, while that game has some issues of its own its miles better than this in every way. I refunded it after 2 hours as it isn't worth 2$

Anemic and thoroughly unpleasant on every level. Connor's one of the most annoying 'follow this guy and watch him do everything' characters I've ever seen, with gunplay that's simultaneously too realistic and too arcadey. Just not worth your time.

you watch parents get shot in front of their child and then round the corner to see a massive Pabst Blue Ribbon ad. This game is nothing but tonal whiplash and not the fun kind. Just the kind that makes you want to play something else instead of this tacky horse shit.
