The game hasn't hit 1.0 release and it already has massive amount of content. Each of the main characters has 3 chapters to go through with specific theme, story, and playstyle. Stories are simple and cheesy at times but they're interesting enough to carry you forward. You can easily get your money's worth.

Incredibly fun deck builder. There's a story mode, that has you collecting cards and relics to be able to flexibily build a deck depending on whatever enemies you'll be facing. Different main characters with their own faction-focused, as well different stories for each. Then there's the roguelike mode, which is pretty fun. Tons of different characters you can start with, which determine your starting deck, and some options in events. Pretty fun out the gate, and can unlock new units and artifacts through the progression. Main critiques are that I wish the shops and events better previewed what they offered ahead of time, so you could more better plan out what path you'll take to focus on a certain build. But even besides that the game has quite a bit of flexibility with being able to remove cards, modify them, gain artifacts, and other ways to improve yourself and your deck. It may not be for everyone, especially with how fixated some people have become on how deckbuilders are 'supposed' to be. This isn't a hardcore game that'll smash your face in (although I haven't gotten into any late game), and there are ways to make real powerful busted combos, but that's part of the fun of it. But it is still a very fun deckbuilder with a lot of content with varied mechanics.

Finished the campaign that's currently available, and I'm loving it. Card games that offer a narrative deck-building journey are on the rarer side, and this one has some very solid production value. It has both a narrative campaign and a roguelike mode, so if you're interested in both, there's a nice little value bundle for you there. Of course, regardless of how you play, it hinges on the card game itself. Games tend to be short to medium in length, and you can expect the roguelike runs to be shorter than the industry standard in their current state. There are a lot of distinct and interesting builds to go for or play against, with 20 or so core archetypes, and variations on at least some of them you can opt for. If you're familiar with card battlers, you'll see a lot of tried and true mechanics, but a handful of more unique ones as well, like cannon or chef builds. The difficulty tends to be on the lighter side, but the upper limits will probably require both knowing what you're doing and a little dose of good luck. The world is very vibrant and fun-loving, yet manages to touch on a few meaningful themes or narrative twists. It's also a refreshing twist in a genre that historically leans towards darker, surreal, or "realistic" designs. There are a lot of familiar tropes, but enough unique design and character direction to make it feel like it's doing its own thing instead of churning out "default fantasy" vibes. The card designs also do a good job of marrying the themes with the mechanics, creating satisfying visual identities most of the time. In terms of early access, I'm seeing regular interaction and feedback coming from the team in Discord, and news comes out on Steam roughly once a month with something substantial to say. The game has most of the core content at this point, and the team seems fully invested in rounding out and polishing the 1.0 release.

As someone who likes deckbuilders but has long become jaded to them ever being balanced when it comes to PVP, I never knew this is what I needed. A PVE deckbuilder that doesn't make ME feel powerless, but also doesn't make the ai a pushover. I came back to this game to wash the taste of 9 Kings out of my mouth after not playing it for almost 2 years. I still had a run halfway done, I didn't hate it, it just didn't have the sense of urgency I wanted. It was way too loose with it's shop buying mechanics and there were holes in lots of decks where there should have been certain types of cards and synergies. Well somehow the game still applied the updates onto my half completed run, and I already love the changes. Shops no longer let you buy egregious amounts of cards, you get 3 from 3 of the choices and that's it, you still get 3 waves of choices, but this definitely lets me feel less OP. I have also seen lots of cards that have fleshed out hero decks in ways I really wanted to see. The art style of this game is WAY above most games you'll find on steam, especially from such an unknown developer and such an unknown game. It has so much detail without being overly detailed, each character actually looks like a character and you can recognize them whenever you see them again. The colour pallet is like an old treasure map but in a warm cozy way, I can't believe it's still largely unknown, it doesn't even barely have over 1000 reviews at the time of writing this. I only played through the first story, cause suffice to say, the roguelike mode got me hooked, I have so much fun crushing the ai and trying out new synergies and hero decks. They also have a shop where you can buy new cards and trinkets that you can find/buy throughout subsequent runs. You get currency for this shop from winning runs, so it's a rewarding gameplay loop. THIS is how you do system for changing gameplay/decks/stats for heros in a roguelike deckbuilder in a PVE format. There are harder and harder bosses as you play through the mode and you will not feel bad about stomping them. I sometimes found myself accidentally wasting my whole run because I forgot how the final boss works and he would completely stomp me instead. I had no one to be mad at but myself. Just like Hearthstone, you'll get bad rng and end up losing health for it. It's never too bad because unless your deck is complete garbage it's usually salvageable. Not to mention it will usually only happen if you have too much bloat and don't cycle what you want. But unlike Hearthstone, this game is actually fun and not balanced to have overpowered metas with selling cards for a PVP format. This is definitely the best deckbuilder I've ever played and it's only getting better. Pick it up if you like having fun.

This is FANTASTIC. If (like me) you are looking for something that plays like CCG's but doesn't have the monetization, look no further! I have tried them all, from STS to Monster Train to 9 Kings, but none of them had that CCG feel as much as this has! It has ALL the best classic mechanisms from Hearthstone Runeterra and Magic, and it plays fast and furiously. Quick paced, clever, comborific and FUN. Tons of content, tons to collect, improve, level. Player impact is real here, and it feels great. Paid full price, doen't regret it for a second!
