Wingspan: European Expansion

If you like the base game enough that you are looking at picking up the expansions at the price they are listed, you should probably go ahead and do it. More birds, more bonus cards, and the new round end bird powers all add to both the replayability and strategy of the game. In general, I just like having a wider pool of cards to pull from so that it becomes harder to rely on any single strategy and you have to build a skillset around adapting to what you have been given. All that said, given the regularity of sales, you are effectively paying the price of the additional base game again for what ends up being roughly half the number of birds (and a significantly lower number of bonus cards) than the initial base game purchase. I would highly recommend trying out the base game first and deciding if you like it enough to purchase any of these expansions before buying them all as a set. Especially because Wingspan allows you to play with the expansions if you have a friend who owns them and invites you to a game in which they are enabled to allow you to check them out.
