A pretty unique and different kind of navigation based horror game. It's short for the price, and very well known and heavily spoiled everywhere online. But if you haven't tried it or had it spoiled, I would recommend it.

A bite sized horror experience that thoroughly impressed me in it's world building, unique gameplay gimmick, and execution. The atmosphere is oppressive, with a black and white camera being your only vision that makes you take your hands off of steering the ship. You feel no hope that this is going to end well, but you want to see it through to the end. This game is the definition of doing more with less. It has a look similar to David Szymanski’s other retro style games (Dusk, Pony Factory, and Butcher’s Creek), but with a grimy layer of rust and cosmic horror. Sound design is excellent. Never going over the top (well except for that one time), instead ebbing and flowing the tension to constantly create a sense of stress whether that be your creaking, almost broken sub, or the lifeless? blood ocean around you. You will constantly ask if you heard something, try and take a picture, yet see nothing? but the grainy, alien world you are stuck in. It takes about an hour to get through, maybe less. It has stayed in my mind now for months though (similar to Scorn), so I would recommend it at full or prize or on sale.

Such an interesting game. The horror was brilliant and I hated every second being trapped in a small container under a blood sea. 10/10 Perfect horror game.

This is a wonderful little cosmic horror game. Even knowing what was going to happen I still had a lot of fun with this one. The game's greatest strength is easily its sound design. That's where most of the horror comes from. hearing something outside, the creaks of the hull as it struggles to handle the pressure. It really does make you feel like you're trapped in a cramped submarine. Gameplay wise it's not very hard. navigating can be clunky but you get used to it pretty quick. I personally find it more engaging to play the game a bit more like a roleplay, and talk to yourself while playing. Kind of act like you're really the one doing it. While I did really enjoy this game, the gameplay itself is very limited and not for everyone. I can certainly see where a lot of people will be put off or not feel engaged. The game is also very short, and really doesn't have replayability. My best advice is to treat this game like a tabletop rpg. Act like you're the convict in the submarine. Count out what coordinates you're at to yourself.

I would not recommend this game. The concept of the game is cool, and you feel this impending sense of doom. Unfortunately, the game-play is very boring and tedious. You pilot the submarine with coordinates, so basically the whole game is you trying to find your friend's base in Minecraft. Great concept, terrible execution. Save your money and watch a play-through.

The exploration idea is unique but the story is weak, less would have been more. The planets and stars just vanished? It's pretty weak brained low effort content. You could have just said you're a convict tasked with exploring this place. A ocean of blood too? Couldn't it just be... I don't know... some sulfur compound? All I'm saying man is I hate bad scifi writing, and this is among the laziest worst Scifi writing I've ever experienced. Also while the exploration concept is interesting, it is a grind and no fun.

To be honest, I found the game a bit boring - the horror aspect is the fact that you have a limited amount of time before you potentially die and the feeling of being trapped. However, aside from that, there's not much to do but navigate around and push buttons to reach the coordinates on the map. Story-wise, I felt like the premise was interesting, but there isn't really much beyond the fact you're a convict stuck in a submarine. It doesn't really feel as though there's any real story you're progressing.

I was told that you experience this game the better if you read all the lore. But I somehow managed to miss the lore, I don't know why, so i wasn't scared at all. I wish the lore was more obvious, but I guess that's a me problem. I ended up not really liking it, but Kephal likes it so much that I am still recommending it.
