Pretty fun DLC, interesting idea but implementation looks pretty basic. As if it was left at the initial stage (like MANY things in this game, it completely lacks complexity, as if it was a demo for many other sorts of games). The idea: there are three new levels where you can fight waves of monsters, and build defense installations to help you, all with the goal of protecting the core. There are 5 waves of monsters, 5 groups per wave, a few monsters in each group (five?). Each level has several spots for monsters to spawn (switching from one spot to the next after a wave or two), they follow a fixed predetermined route, you can place towers in specific places that are supposed to do some damage to monsters. At the end you fight a boss and receive extra rewards for optional objectives. Problem - mode is extremely basic: - all (five?) defence towers cost the SAME amount of resources (20) - resources are extremely limited, you get between 5 and 8 towers in a level (approximately) - towers are so damn weak they can barely kill the lowest tier of monster, at best (which makes them practically useless) - you cannot modify the arena... in a tower defense game mode, in a builder game you cannot modify the path monsters will take in any way... missed opportunity many times over, if you ask me - in the last level there are TWO crystals to defend! But you end up defending one and the other is just for show... but if you die, you'll respawn at the far crystal and spend the next minute crawling to the one that is actually being attacked... you still crawl slowly in this game mode. I haven't tried using a ride, they make moving around MUCH faster but they're not available in rifts so why would they work here? - "final" level boss completely lack balance with nearly one hit kill damage (but only because I invested into health heavily with my rogue... which was a waste of class because this boss has no elemental weakness... I think, I just threw some bombs at him which took most of his health away) The mode is somewhat fun and adds some variety to the gameplay, but is extremely limited. If there were, like, 10 properly balanced maps with towers that did a reasonable amount of damage (could actually kill some monsters), more monsters per wave, like 20-30 waves I'd consider it an attempt at tower defense mode. As is, it is just an extra, worth a few dollars, IMO. Oh, and this also adds "furfolk" - new race where your face has more facial hair... and that's it. But at least it was more than just different shape of ears. There's also new "druid" class, but, personally, I found it pretty boring attempt at combining warrior with... something else? IMO, it excels at nothing really. It can transform into other monsters, which reuse existing monster attacks, replacing your weapons and adding extra health. Some monsters have ranged attacks. I couldn't figure out whether this is a good class or bad class since I personally found it pretty damn BORING. Extra furniture looks nice, although quite similar to the previous addon. Extra mounts are also a nice touch, if a little grindy (400k coints, replay the last level, like, 10 times). Do I regret the purchase? No. Would I buy it again? No. I'd say it's nice if you already have the main game, like it and want more of it. But it's definitely not necessary to enjoy the main game.

I can't even play the game after getting this, keeps going to main screen when trying to load world. Edit: This is now playable and rather fun I enjoy the tower defence.

I'm not going to lie, I like the Furfolk options. However, I mainly was looking forward to Relic Defense. It's a good idea, and it's executed fine--but it's nowhere near as intense as it could be. If you're competent at combat you don't really need traps. It's fun in its own right, but it's not the tower defense type game I was hoping for. The elements are all correct--it's just not challenging in any way. This type of gameplay has a huge potential and I hope the devs, or someone else, takes it further. Orcs Must Die! is a good option in the meantime for this kind of tower defense gameplay though that is significantly more challenging (as that series the only focus is on tower defense, or rather, trap defense). I definitely recommend this DLC for anyone that has Portal Knights.

With this DLC you gain access to 4/5 new islands, 4 of which add content, one spare one you can buy for yourself. Completing all the quests and doing each level of relic defense once does not take much more time than maybe 2 hours. There are three levels of defense locations (of differing difficulty) and the furfolk island from which you travel from. The islands look lovely and the relic defence is a nice addition to the main game. It's a lot of fun on your own as well as with friends. The only thing not so great about it is the extreme grinding you have to undergo to get enough coins of the new currency to afford the new stuff. The most difficult defense takes maybe half an hour and rewards you with maybe 40.000 coins, the others are a bit shorter but you get like 7.000 coins tops... Most of the new mounts cost 400.000. And there is more than one. Repeating one level over and over again without much variety in itself is tedious and annoying. Relic defence is more fun than the rifts, though, so we will be playing this DLC more than the other, I think.

I didn't get around to the actual relic defense, ironically. But I did do the main campaign as a Druid. Changing into animals is nice, but their limited time frame and longish cooldowns was kinda disapointing. The furfolk are cute though...I'm sure the furry crowd will be pleased.

If u boughten Portal Knights - Elves, Rogues, and Rifts dlc , this dlc would a bit simliar but different. This DLC adds druid shapeshifter class ,It's a arena tomb addition! As well new cosmetics/furfolk player, and a bit different rift system simliar to portals only with new stuff! new class, weapons as well armor content to make portal knights branch out more in a expansion. However if you have a rogue , then druid would be too simliar bit sickles besides other weapons.

Druids are the most fun I've ever had playing this game. The new mounts added by the dlc are super cool. Arenas a fun way to waste time. Conclusion? Buy it.

I totally recommend this if you like the basegame. The new druid class unique transformation mechanic is different from other class mechanics and fun to play. The relic defense adds a good endgame content besides the rifts of faynore and is aswell good rewarded. Also Furfolk! ;)

I think it is a good DLC but could use a little more content. It is very fun to defend the star stone and the druid class seems pretty good.

Great addition in my opinion, even just for the Shape shifting mechanic in the druid class.

Kinda wish there were more things to transform into, like big orcs and golems. But still very fun, nonetheless.
