2K wants to know every single bit of information that exists about you if you want to play their games now. Complete trash.

The Story is great, honestly loved the game (including the DLC). The combat is really engaging. However, The only problem which i have with this game is that it really crashes a lot. Had to save each and every single time. If you can tolerate its crashes then this game's for you otherwise, don't try this game.

Very good sequel to the all-time classic first game! While the setting is known and it feels like coming home returning to Rapture, the view on the city is different. The story keeps you engaged, and the fights can be hard on higher difficulties. Great game, unfortunately it crashes a lot back to Desktop.

It would be a very good game if they fix the crashes! Every hour the game random crashes like 3 times, it is very annoying.

Playing BioShock 2 felt like coming back home. Although we visit different locations, it's still Rapture. The atmosphere remains excellent, one can get freaked out by his own shadow. The story offers yet again heavy moral choices, and our actions are gonna leave a deep impact. The gameplay is fun, and I really enjoyed smashing into the enemies and drilling them into bloody pieces! Ok, that sounded a little bit morbid, I am actually a sweet and peaceful person. ^_^ Anyway, the fights can get pretty hectic and quite brutal. But protecting the Little Sister is the most important thing, so "Give them the hell, Shepard!"… ehm, wrong game, but you catch my meaning. Our arsenal is vast, and what's more, we can use plasmids too! Good thing that normal daddies don't use them, otherwise they would be invincible. xD The Gene Tonics give various bonuses, and with them, we can easily customize our playstyle in the preferred way. Have to say that most of the time a more direct approach proved to be the best tactic. BioShock 2 also introduces a few changes. For example, hacking - instead of pipes that need to be connected, we have a rapidly moving needle that needs to be stopped on the right segments. Can't say that I am a fan of this design. The difficulty is upscaling quickly, and unless you invest in every tonic with hacking bonuses, it turns into a chore. The next thing that got changed is the camera research. In the first game, you needed to collect ammo/film for your camera to be able to take photos. Now, you record videos with it without the need for any ammo. Neat! I have enjoyed both the visuals and music, especially the loading jazz songs were pretty catchy. The voice acting is also good. The story is interesting, although I got lost in the timeline a few times, but that may be thanks to my long pause between the two games. And now to the most problematic side of the game - technical problems. I have experienced a few crashes, but luckily, they didn't hinder my progress or made me frustrated enough to drop the game - yep, I save a lot. These crashes happened only during hectic battles - against a Big Sister or a large swarm of lesser enemies. Sometimes the game would crash again in the same spot until I did something different in the battle - let's say I moved in the opposite direction or used a different weapon. What is interesting - I have experienced no crashes during the Protector trials, and there are only swarms of enemies. Oh, there is also a great bug where if you load a save during your fight with Big Sister in one of the levels, you get stuck with the fighting music for the rest of the location. Yeah, it got quite monotone after a while. xD Luckily, it really happens only in that one specific level. It's a shame that it suffers from such problems, but returning to the Rapture in the shoes of Big Daddy was quite fun. I'd say give this game a chance, it deserves it.

The Bioshock series never gets old. Always worth picking up the trilogy and playing them. For a start, the combat is more in depth in this game, and slightly better than 1. Although some would criticise the story for not being as good as 1, I would say to ignore those opinions and form your own. As for myself, I found the story quite enjoyable, and on par with 1, they both share their unique differences. TLDR: Awesome series

Bioshock is a franchise that shines a spotlight onto why gaming is an incredibly immersive and gripping medium of telling quality stories. However, I don't feel Bioshock 2 is quite the sequel that lives up to the generational original. The weight of expectation sags in this sequel as its weak overall plot really can't hold up another memorable trip down to Rapture. At this point, the gameplay didn't get its violent tasing that we saw in Bioshock Infinite so Bioshock 2 sits awkwardly between two of the most revered and celebrated games in the industry. The game gets a free pass with Rapture as it makes for one of the most interesting settings imagined and the sharp writing does shine through with some stand-out supporting characters. The gameplay is a very meek evolution on the original but there are a lot of quality-of-life improvements that make actually playing the game less awkward. The lore is used a little more liberally to plunder some ingenious ideas nicely allowing some room to diversify the gameplay making for a livelier combat sandbox. I really disliked the direction taken with this story. The protagonist is literally and figuratively an empty hollow shell with absolutely zero personality. I didn't like the ham-fisted attempt to try and slap an empathetic narrative onto such a lifeless protagonist. I love the original so much and Bioshock 2 really can't step out of its siblings shadow in any aspect. I had a few technical problems which inflated my playtime by at least three hours so save your game often! I have a few stark issues with this one but I can give it a recommend for fans of the franchise that loved the combat of the original but don't want to spend hours doing the pipe arranging hacking mini-game again. I completed the game in 7.5 hours, though lost a lot of time to technical problems, and the game worked very nicely with my X1X controller.

BioShock 2 Remastered brings players back into the haunting underwater city of Rapture with polished visuals and refined gameplay, offering both a nostalgic trip and a fresh experience for newcomers. While it may not quite capture the groundbreaking magic of the original, this remaster solidifies BioShock 2’s place as a worthy, atmospheric sequel. The remaster sharpens the eerie ambiance of Rapture with improved textures, lighting, and character models. The city’s art deco decay is more immersive than ever, with water effects and shadow work that amplify the sense of isolation and danger lurking in every corner. It’s a visually stunning dive into a dystopian world that still feels hauntingly alive. Taking the helm as the Big Daddy prototype “Subject Delta,” players experience a unique mix of heavy melee and ranged combat with plasmid powers. The gameplay strikes a solid balance between the original’s methodical pacing and more aggressive, visceral combat. The addition of new weapons and upgraded AI adds variety without reinventing the wheel. Exploration and resource management remain crucial, maintaining tension and rewarding careful decision-making. The iconic hacking minigames return, refined but faithful to their roots, providing a satisfying change of pace. BioShock 2’s narrative delves deeper into Rapture’s lore, focusing on the bond between Big Daddies and Little Sisters. While not as revolutionary as the first game’s plot twists, it adds emotional weight and a fresh perspective on the city’s collapse. The protagonist’s journey is more personal, grounded in a desire to protect rather than survive alone. The remaster includes all DLC, offering expanded storylines and new challenges. Multiplayer mode, a controversial addition back in the day, feels largely forgotten but offers a quirky, if uneven, diversion with Rapture’s unique weapons and powers. Pros: -Stunningly enhanced visuals and atmosphere -Balanced, engaging combat with Big Daddy gameplay -Richer narrative perspective on Rapture’s world -Includes all DLC content Cons: -Story isn’t as impactful as the original BioShock -Multiplayer feels dated and largely optional -Some gameplay mechanics feel slightly dated BioShock 2 Remastered is a welcome revival of a solid sequel that often lives in the shadow of its legendary predecessor. Enhanced graphics and refined gameplay make it an excellent way to revisit Rapture’s depths, while its story offers emotional resonance for both fans and newcomers. Not a masterpiece, but a memorable dive worth taking. Rating: 7/10

Is probably the least popular game of the 3 releases, but still had fun with this one especially when it first came out. Was a shame the multiplayer was left out of this version, but with how multiplayer gaming has evolved, I can understand this being very dated in comparison & not attract many players in present day.

I recently watched a certain youtuber challenge run these games, and got me itching to replay them. I hadnt played them since they came out, and had never touched the remastered versions. I dont even remember how exactly I got them. Probably a steam sale years ago, and I just wanted to add them to my collection. For the game itself, its alright. Replaying it 10odd years later, I didn't remember anything of it really other than: Me big daddy. Me fight Big sister. Protec Little Sister. And given another 10 years, I bet that is all I'll remember as well. But the DLC. Ho boy, the DLC Minerva's Den. I slept on this when the game first came out, and didnt hear a peep about it til reinstalling this. Do not sleep on the DLC. If Bioshock 2 doesnt grip you like 1 did, then skip all of the base game, and just play the DLC "Minerva's Den." Trust me on this. This DLC has all the peaks of Bioshock 1, and 2, with none of the valleys or issues I experienced with either game, and is narratively the strongest part of 1&2. The biggest valley with bioshock 1 is really that its narrative just falls completely flat after the "WYK" moment. You know the one. After than, the game is just bland, boring, repatative, and empty. But up to that point, that climbing peak is SO good. And Minerva's Den DLC is nothing but that. The ambiance, the enviromental storytelling, the frame setting. So much care went into this DLC it is baffling.

Don't listen to people who don't like this game. Compared to the first part the combat system has been improved and the plot hasn't become worse. It's still a half immersive sim, a bit of survival horror, a bit of shooter and a pinch of bugs and all together it turns into a masterpiece

I died. I glitched. I was broke. And I still walked out a hero. This game puts you in the boots of an unstoppable monster... and then makes you feel like you're made of paper and regret. Enemies hit hard. Everything costs a fortune. You barely do damage. And yet, somehow, you keep going. I ran into bugs. I had to die on purpose just to reset broken systems. I got no money, barely any ammo, and still kept every choice clean. No shortcuts. No darkness. By the end, I wasn’t powerful because of upgrades. I was powerful because I chose to do the right thing, even when it hurt. If you want a game that: Fights you the whole way Feels gritty, heavy, and personal Actually cares about your decisions- This is it. Don’t harvest. Don’t give in. Just endure and you will remember this legendary game for the rest of your life.

its so the same as the first one it honestly pisses me off the gameplay is the same the ui is the same the story structure is roughly the same the weapons are mostly the same but reskinned (although the drill is more fun than the wrench) the hacking minigame is an improvement I will admit the map is another improvement I have to concede, though it's not all too different in appearance so unless you've played both it would be tough to differentiate them the combat is the same bar a couple of new enemy types I mean seriously in the first game you start with the electricity plasmid, you find the fire one at some point and then you have to go find telekinesis as part of the story, and in this one you start with the electricity plasmid, at some point you find the telekinesis one and then you have to go find fire as part of the story, like come on A lot of things in this also contradict the story of the first, we should have heard about a character as important in rapture as Sofia Lamb, we would've seen or heard some indication of the areas we find like the theme park or Fontaine's Futuristics, or the fucking trains which supposedly traverse the entire map of this one Its like the snyder cut of the first one, I'm being so serious it feels like the first one was released, some dipshit was like "I bet my version would be better" and took like 3 other people and made his own smaller dev team and they recut the first one into this ALSO, THE FUCKI- Bioshock 2 has stopped working

I really liked this game! and i would go as far as to say its a little better than the first game! the hacking puzzles are alot more fun and engaging (i liked the hack puzzles in bioshock but these are a bit more fun imo) the gameplay is still really fun, the story, while not AS good as the first, is still good! the visuals are better imo, i loved how rapture looked in this game, its in ruins and it makes it a little spooky at times! (Exepaclliy those parts in the game where you need to use your flashlight in the dark, hearing the nosies around you and the tension that comes from those areas is really good, and it gets great when a spilcer jumps out from the darkness to get you) overall, this game is great! my only issie is that the dyinoess park part could have been abit shorter, it did get alittle drawn out, i think it just being 2 little sisters you need to get insted of 3, sure it might cause some story issuies (if you know what im talking about) but i think it would have made it better, but besides that, great game! 9/10

BioShock 2 is a decent game. I know some people liked it more than the first one, but I’m not one of them. I do enjoy the ending, and fighting the Big Daddies felt different this time around. There’s another boss-type enemy that shows up early on, and while I get what they were going for, I just found them more annoying than anything. The gameplay formula is still the same and works fine, and the story has its moments; but it just doesn’t hit the same as the first one.

There nothing quite like returning to Rapture. The best part of the remaster is better textures and all the DLC that came with the original game. That being said, it's not the best PC port and there are some frame drops and even crashes, I didn't have too many, but still happened. I definitely recommend getting this on sale especially if you want to return to best underwater dystopia there is.

Other than the story feeling pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of Bioshock, all the core mechanics and gameplay are far better than the original. This game built on the universe quite a bit, just without a very interesting story. The DLC had a solid story that I wish was the original games story though. 8.3/10, good!

Was just about to uninstall this for good and leave a negative review as this game on PC had a notorious crash issue and could only be fixed by downloading and pasting a fan made fix into the files on account of being connected to 2Ks crappy launcher but I just seen they finally removed having to load the launcher at the end of last year and upon testing it today could actually play more than 30 minutes with no crash! Can recommend now, Best Game in the series and Minerva's Den is one of the best side story DLCs of all time

The game freezes on literally the start of the first cutscene. The character walks 5 meters to a vent and then the screen just stops. For some reason it seems the scene is still progressing further as there is subtitles being displayed but audio and visuals are both frozen. I have spent multiple hours looking for a fix to this but I have yet to find anybody with a similar problem. As of this moment I literally can't even play the game. And attempting to fix it with a crash fix mod would be against the EULA.

Not a bad game but hard to praise when put against the giant of its predecessor. Improves upon the gameplay slightly, but with drawbacks in story and NPC Characters. The city of rapture rings somewhat hollow without the charisma of Andrew Ryan.

Frankly I did not like it. No one expected this game to be as innovative or as good as the original, but at least I expected to be a nice expansion to the Rapture universe and the lore of the original game. The only thing that improved in comparison to the original was the combat for various reasons. While the characters in the original were very memorable because each one of them represented an idea, in this sequel all of the characters were generic and forgettable. The master plan of the antagonist made no sense at all and generally the main antagonist of the game felt really dull and generic because she represented nothing of substance. Also all the areas of the game except the last two felt generic and uninspired. The only two last areas of the game felt like real bioshock. I think the games fundamental concept of playing as big daddy was wrong, because the big daddies in the original game represented programmed monsters of no free will, working as a symbolism of the downfall of Rapture. Its a same because I heard the original concept for this game was to play as a grown up little sister returning to Rapture, which was an actual GOOD idea. That way theu could keep the horror elements of the first game and expand on them. And this is another problem of this game, it has no horror elements. Playing as a big daddy makes the gameplay a power fantasy which does not much with the game of Rapture. In conclusion, the game had some good ideas but I would recommend to skip the game and play infinite after completing Bioshock 1.

after playing all the bioshock games this one to me feels the most lacking when it comes to how much i enjoyed the game don't get me wrong still think it is very solid but after playing the very impressive other two games which bring great positives to them like 1 being the first time you see this amazing city of rapture and having great villains and infinite having a 9/10 world design i feel 2s world being destroyed is understandable but just not great the villain lamb really didn't hit that hard, this review may seem negative but the game is great and i really enjoyed it overall about a 7.5/10 would recommend

Maybe they have finally fixed them guys (as of June 2025). I played both the remasters back to back and I had zero crashes. In the past I had constant crashes no matter what, the games where unplayable. The only thing I did was I never used quick save or quick load, I only saved from the menu, I don't know if that played any role. So if you previously had crashes give them one more try, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Great game and in my opinion does almost everything better than the first game The only exception to this is the story i really do think that bioshock 1 plot twists and overall story is better i also feel like most people that play either game will experience their second game slighty worse due to setting of Rapture growing more old
