The following is copied from another review I agree with:
I have removed all 2K software from all machines I own and will not be buying their games in the future as I do not appreciate being sold malware. They have effectively ended their business, just in time for their next game... Genius move...
Take-Two and 2K games have updated all their games Terms of Service, this extends beyond the Borderlands franchise.
Important Info in Terms of Service:
• Mods are a bannable offense
• Display of Cheats/Exploits is bannable
• Forced arbitration clause and a waiver of class action and jury trial rights for all users residing in the United States and any other territory other than Australia, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, or The Territories of The European Economic Area
• You can be banned for using a VPN while connecting to online servers
• Cannot access game content on a Virtual PC
• Best for last, they reserve the right to modify this Agreement, in whole or in part, at any time
Collected Data Types:
• Identifiers / Contact Information: Name, user name, gamertag, postal and email address, phone number, unique IDs, mobile device ID, platform ID, gaming service ID, advertising ID (IDFA, Android ID) and IP address
• Protected Characteristics: Age and gender
• Commercial Information: Purchase and usage history and preferences, including gameplay information
• Billing Information: Payment information (credit / debit card information) and shipping address
• Internet / Electronic Activity: Web / app browsing and gameplay information related to the Services; information about your online interaction(s) with the Services or our advertising; and details about the games and platforms you use and other information related to installed applications
• Device and Usage Data: Device type, software and hardware details, language settings, browser type and version, operating system, and information about how users use and interact with the Services (e.g., content viewed, pages visited, clicks, scrolls)
• Profile Inferences: Inferences made from your information and web activity to help create a personalized profile so we can identify goods and services that may be of interest
• Audio / Visual Information: Account photos, images, and avatars, audio information via chat features and functionality, and gameplay recordings and video footage (such as when you participate in playtesting)
• Sensitive Information: Precise location information (if you allow the Services to collect your location), account credentials (user name and password), and contents of communications via chat features and functionality.
All this data being collected by a company who's CEO was accused of leaving a USB with illegal material on it as well as sensitive data of Gearbox/2K partners in a medieval themed restaurant, and were supposed to just give in to these absurd terms of service?
My take on these terms of service changes is that I now have more hard drive space and I will not be playing another 2K game until these terms are changed. This also extends to the majority of Take-Two published games. Welcome to my ♥♥♥♥ list Take-Two, you've earned it.

The Story is great, honestly loved the game (including the DLC). The combat is really engaging. However, The only problem which i have with this game is that it really crashes a lot. Had to save each and every single time. If you can tolerate its crashes then this game's for you otherwise, don't try this game.

It would be a very good game if they fix the crashes! Every hour the game random crashes like 3 times, it is very annoying.

The Bioshock series never gets old. Always worth picking up the trilogy and playing them. For a start, the combat is more in depth in this game, and slightly better than 1. Although some would criticise the story for not being as good as 1, I would say to ignore those opinions and form your own. As for myself, I found the story quite enjoyable, and on par with 1, they both share their unique differences.
TLDR: Awesome series

Is probably the least popular game of the 3 releases, but still had fun with this one especially when it first came out. Was a shame the multiplayer was left out of this version, but with how multiplayer gaming has evolved, I can understand this being very dated in comparison & not attract many players in present day.

Criticism of 2K’s Data Collection Practices
2K’s recent privacy policy changes raise serious concerns about user rights and data protection. By forcing players to create accounts, even for offline gameplay, and collecting extensive personal, behavioral, and device data, 2K appears to prioritize aggressive data monetization over user privacy. This approach is intrusive, lacks transparency, and may conflict with data protection laws like the GDPR. Users are given little real choice, undermining their right to informational self-determination. Such practices erode trust and set a dangerous precedent in the gaming industry.

BioShock 2 Remastered brings players back into the haunting underwater city of Rapture with polished visuals and refined gameplay, offering both a nostalgic trip and a fresh experience for newcomers. While it may not quite capture the groundbreaking magic of the original, this remaster solidifies BioShock 2’s place as a worthy, atmospheric sequel.
The remaster sharpens the eerie ambiance of Rapture with improved textures, lighting, and character models. The city’s art deco decay is more immersive than ever, with water effects and shadow work that amplify the sense of isolation and danger lurking in every corner. It’s a visually stunning dive into a dystopian world that still feels hauntingly alive.
Taking the helm as the Big Daddy prototype “Subject Delta,” players experience a unique mix of heavy melee and ranged combat with plasmid powers. The gameplay strikes a solid balance between the original’s methodical pacing and more aggressive, visceral combat. The addition of new weapons and upgraded AI adds variety without reinventing the wheel.
Exploration and resource management remain crucial, maintaining tension and rewarding careful decision-making. The iconic hacking minigames return, refined but faithful to their roots, providing a satisfying change of pace.
BioShock 2’s narrative delves deeper into Rapture’s lore, focusing on the bond between Big Daddies and Little Sisters. While not as revolutionary as the first game’s plot twists, it adds emotional weight and a fresh perspective on the city’s collapse. The protagonist’s journey is more personal, grounded in a desire to protect rather than survive alone.
The remaster includes all DLC, offering expanded storylines and new challenges. Multiplayer mode, a controversial addition back in the day, feels largely forgotten but offers a quirky, if uneven, diversion with Rapture’s unique weapons and powers.
Pros:
-Stunningly enhanced visuals and atmosphere
-Balanced, engaging combat with Big Daddy gameplay
-Richer narrative perspective on Rapture’s world
-Includes all DLC content
Cons:
-Story isn’t as impactful as the original BioShock
-Multiplayer feels dated and largely optional
-Some gameplay mechanics feel slightly dated
BioShock 2 Remastered is a welcome revival of a solid sequel that often lives in the shadow of its legendary predecessor. Enhanced graphics and refined gameplay make it an excellent way to revisit Rapture’s depths, while its story offers emotional resonance for both fans and newcomers. Not a masterpiece, but a memorable dive worth taking.

BioShock 2 is a great game, it wasn't as great as the prequel but it still stands as a great sequel. I liked the plot on how we play as a big daddy in order to save our first little sister. the vibe of the game stays the same as BioShock 1, as you continue to explore the rest of rapture. my only major issue was the constant game crashing, it was very difficult to progress through the because I had to always manually save the game. but regardless, this game was a fun experience overall.

A great step up from the first Bioshock. From a confused game that doesn't know what it wants to be, Bioshock 2 evolved into a great metroidvania with much more improved gameplay and exploration. The game is not tedious like the first one, it has a much better map, progression, even story is more interesting, by getting deeper into what is going on behind Big Daddy's masks.
It's a shame that people don't praise the game as much as the first game because this is a much better experience, without the slog, softlocks and repetative quests.

The game freezes on literally the start of the first cutscene. The character walks 5 meters to a vent and then the screen just stops. For some reason it seems the scene is still progressing further as there is subtitles being displayed but audio and visuals are both frozen.
I have spent multiple hours looking for a fix to this but I have yet to find anybody with a similar problem. As of this moment I literally can't even play the game. And attempting to fix it with a crash fix mod would be against the EULA.

Not a bad game but hard to praise when put against the giant of its predecessor. Improves upon the gameplay slightly, but with drawbacks in story and NPC Characters. The city of rapture rings somewhat hollow without the charisma of Andrew Ryan.

Frankly I did not like it. No one expected this game to be as innovative or as good as the original, but at least I expected to be a nice expansion to the Rapture universe and the lore of the original game. The only thing that improved in comparison to the original was the combat for various reasons. While the characters in the original were very memorable because each one of them represented an idea, in this sequel all of the characters were generic and forgettable. The master plan of the antagonist made no sense at all and generally the main antagonist of the game felt really dull and generic because she represented nothing of substance. Also all the areas of the game except the last two felt generic and uninspired. The only two last areas of the game felt like real bioshock. I think the games fundamental concept of playing as big daddy was wrong, because the big daddies in the original game represented programmed monsters of no free will, working as a symbolism of the downfall of Rapture. Its a same because I heard the original concept for this game was to play as a grown up little sister returning to Rapture, which was an actual GOOD idea. That way theu could keep the horror elements of the first game and expand on them. And this is another problem of this game, it has no horror elements. Playing as a big daddy makes the gameplay a power fantasy which does not much with the game of Rapture. In conclusion, the game had some good ideas but I would recommend to skip the game and play infinite after completing Bioshock 1.

after playing all the bioshock games this one to me feels the most lacking when it comes to how much i enjoyed the game don't get me wrong still think it is very solid but after playing the very impressive other two games which bring great positives to them like 1 being the first time you see this amazing city of rapture and having great villains and infinite having a 9/10 world design i feel 2s world being destroyed is understandable but just not great the villain lamb really didn't hit that hard, this review may seem negative but the game is great and i really enjoyed it overall about a 7.5/10 would recommend

Maybe they have finally fixed them guys (as of June 2025).
I played both the remasters back to back and I had zero crashes.
In the past I had constant crashes no matter what, the games where unplayable.
The only thing I did was I never used quick save or quick load, I only saved from the menu, I don't know if that played any role.
So if you previously had crashes give them one more try, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Great game and in my opinion does almost everything better than the first game
The only exception to this is the story i really do think that bioshock 1 plot twists and overall story is better
i also feel like most people that play either game will experience their second game slighty worse due to setting of Rapture growing more old

The worst looking "remastering" of any game ive ever played. As for the alleged boatload of technical problems i heard about my game only crashed once during the campaign and was reduced to single digit framerate for two 30 second intervals, which in my opinion is acceptable.
It expands upon the combat formula of the original game which makes gameplay more challenging and organic, but generally more repetitive. Especially at the end of the game where the "enemies spawn after button pressed" trope is used around 5 or 6 times for the story objective and 3 times for the little sisters side objectives with almost nothing in between to break up the monotony. Also this game has lost much of the suspense/horror lite of the original game and instead of the occasional scripted combat sequence to keep things interesting, they opted to just let the ai play out as it will in different areas with rotated enemy types.
The combat is still very fun and the shotgun is still as effective as ever, maybe even more so. It even has possibly the best shotgun sound in the history of gaming that sounds like tnt going off inside an aluminum trashcan.
and now for the story, oh boy...
The game lays you up for disappointment as it intros with plenty of Andrew Ryan audio clips/logs and interesting logs of randoms talking about living in Rapture, mixed in with audio from the antagonist Sofia Lamb. As the game progresses however, all other forms of voice clips drop off until it is just Sofia Lamb and her idiot cohorts gibbering complete nonsense and accusations at you until you inevitably mute the voice audio.
The writers do a good job of portraying the annoying spoiled elitist, pro-communist activist in the character of Sofia Lamb with the way she contradicts her own logic, justifies the morality of terrorism, employs fake religious figures to gather followers, has an ivy league education/worthless psych degree, has ulterior motives to her charity, and abuses her child for her own personal gain. She even has a token black associate who, and this is true, calls you a racist despite the fact that you are an emotionless automaton cyborg who does nothing but shoot white people.
Realistic or not this dialogue is grating and by the time you reach the final level Lamb's voice audio is almost nonstop.
Final thoughts:
The game is fun but the "good ending" is one where your character dies and the unhinged terrorist is saved from her own suicide bombing that destroys a whole city and kills thousands of people because we "forgive her".
7/10 dont write anymore stories plz

Honestly, I don’t get how people worship BioShock 1 and 2 like they’re masterpieces. The first game is a confusing mess — the ‘helpful hints’ tell you nothing when you’re stuck, like fixing that damn EMP with no goal marker. The big twist? Predictable as hell. Big Daddies? Hard as nails to kill when you’re just trying to get past them — but oh wait, in BioShock 2 I am a Big Daddy and I die to a bunch of nobodies in two minutes. Makes total sense, right?
And don’t even get me started on the ‘medium’ difficulty — it’s basically hard mode for no good reason. BioShock 2 was even worse: I couldn’t finish it because the first Little Sister gathering turned into a raid that burned every medkit and Eve shot I had. Trash. I genuinely don’t get how anyone finds this fun. Overhyped underwater headache, both of them.
BioShock 2 Remastered
I used to not like this instalment as much as the other two in the series but coming back to it years later and having finally finished it including the excellent DLC Minerva's Den I must say this one became my absolute favourite out of the three. The gameplay is more fluid and intuitive than in the first one, new guns, upgrades and abilities are added, a quicker but also riskier form of hacking is introduced, the level design is superb especially in the DLC and the main character's journey feels more personal. It does lose its scary und unsettling atmosphere at he cost of better gameplay though and much like the first one it tends to crash.

Story was less good than Bioshock 1 but still very enjoyable.
In regards to gameplay, honestly I think its way better. The two worst things in Bioshock 1 were the hacking and using the research camera. Did not enjoy doing either in the first game, but they are a million times better in this one because they barely, if ever, intrude on the flow of the gameplay.
I also think the guns are a million times better in this game. The rivet gun is basically a better pistol, the shotgun is a thousand times better, the spear gun is a better crossbow, etc etc. The new hack tool is also a neat addition, with it being able hack things from a distance in addition to placing turrets. Certainly makes hacking and defending areas way more enjoyable.
However, the best weapon in the whole game, hands down, is the drill. Sounds weird right? The starting melee weapon is the best one in the game? Just trust me on this. The drill is one of the most fun weapons in any game ever. Once you unlock the drill charge, you'll never want to stop using it. Charging full speed into a Splicer and sending them flying, accompanied by the meaty crunch sound when you kill an enemy, is so satisfying. Its so damn fun. If you play this game, make absolutely sure you research the Brute Splicer to unlock the ability.
Making even the starting melee weapon good throughout the entire game was something the last game couldn't do. Its also nice how there is a universal melee button now, not having to switch to a melee weapon to do the electro bolt melee combo is so nice. The ability to wield both Plasmids and guns at the same time is also really nice, reduces the amount of time needed to switch and generally makes combat way faster. Losing the chemical thrower was a bit disappointing tho.
The new enemies also help distinguish this game from Bioshock 1. The Rumbler, Big Sister, Alpha series, and Brute Splicer all make this game feel fresh and are all pretty fun to fight.
Only a few things I didn't like. I did not like how getting the max research on Big Sisters is such a pain in the ass. I don't like how all the Leadhead Splicers throw grenades now, basically removing the Nitro Splicer from the enemy lineup.
I REALLY don't like how the choice of killing Sofia Lamb is given to Eleanor in a cutscene. In my playthrough I saved all the little sisters, spared Holloway and Poole, but mercy killed Alexander. I like the idea of the endings, they are more nuanced, and grounded, than the ones in Bioshock 1, but let me tell you, I REALLY wanted to kill Sofia Lamb. The game does such a good job of getting you to hate her right from the start, so when you get to the end of the game, and its Eleanor who decides to kill her or not, in a cutscene not less, it feels kinda cheated. Especially since my route resulted in her getting spared. Idk man I just really wanted to kill her ngl.
Oh and at several points my game crashed thus sending me back a lot. This only really happened after I made it to Dionysus Park, but since then my game crashed during gunfights at least once during each level. I enjoyed the game enough to push on, but god damn dude, its blows to be sent back so far because of some crap like that. So save often ig.
A lot of good, some bad. All in all, I like this game better than the first one. Might be an unpopular opinion but idc.

This game was an upgrade to the original.
I found the combat way smoother and the story on par with the first one (haven't played Minerva's Den yet).
Level design was also an upgrade which made the story flow better for me.
BioSchock2 managed to make the original better without losing the "feeling" of the first one.
I had no issues with the game except a crash at the very end which had me losing around an hour of gameplay.

Bioshock 2 Remastered is a good sequel that builds nicely on the first game.
Playing on hard mode made it especially fun in my opinion.
The story and atmosphere are great, and I really enjoyed getting more insight into the Big Daddy lore.
Looking forward to trying out the extra content, just like in the first game!

Bioshock 2 Remastered updates the eerie world of Rapture with enhanced graphics and smoother performance for modern platforms. The game retains its engaging story and unique gameplay, where players control a Big Daddy navigating complex moral choices. Visual improvements make the underwater city feel more immersive without altering the original experience. While the core mechanics remain the same, the remaster makes it easier for new players to appreciate this sequel. Overall, Bioshock 2 Remastered is a solid way to revisit a darker chapter of the Bioshock series.

If you liked the first one, you're in for the same thing : same fighting with plasmids and weapons, amazing art choice with this underwater Rapture city, various ennemies types and a well written story with many additional info to get with audio diaries. They added some new things like new weapons, ennemies and protector mechanics. This game is as good as the first one, with some minor improvements.
Protector's trials were fun and somewhat challenging.
Minerva's Den is an amazing dlc with a nicely wrote story (and a surprising plot twist at the end). You get a badass laser cannon as your new main weapon, areas are well designed and packed with details, and ennemies encounters are tougher to fight trough.
Some people complain about crashes, I only had a few throughout the game, but with regular quicksaving, it wasn't really an issue for me.

Bioshock 2 is one of the good games I've played. It continues the story of Rapture in a compelling way, with a darker and more emotional tone. Playing as a Big Daddy gives a fresh perspective, and the gameplay improvements like dual-wielding weapons and plasmids make it even more enjoyable. While it may not be as groundbreaking as the first game, it's still a solid and memorable experience that's worth playing.

I just had enough after the first one. The first one is a classic, but this one didn’t grab me at all. It felt like more of the same—just more polished.

The saveing system is pretty bad; You just get to run at the weakened enemie until it works out and can thus get stuck in shitty situations where you have to brute force your way out of a low ammunition situation. Apart from that absolute banger! Even with that big gripe and some wonky older game stuff i would still feel a thief if i wouldnt rate this game at least like a 9.5/10. The combat is very good for an old game, even tho it has that "we made this before modern quality of life" hits it quite hard. Lets be real tho, the least amount of enjoyment comes from combat (for me at least) and even if its still very good, its nothing to write home about. Graphics arent perfect but incredible considering the release date but wow the atmosphere is something else. I cant name one game that has craftet a game with the same atmosphere and lets just say spend some time inside :(. Its been some time since i got hooked into a game and just despretaly wanted to continue playing it but this awakened that inside me again 11/10 Atmosphere, 12/10 even! The story is a banger, the characters are as charming as ever and in my opinion the story is on the same page as the first one which i cant say for many things in general (i did however play the first part spoiled (which is like watching A beautiful mind knowing the twist for those uninformed) so take that with a grain of salt).
Just play these games if you havent already and dont mind the old style of quality of life!
On too Infinite we go, hope it doesnt dissapoint!
EDIT: Just saw that many people are experiencing technical problems, i didnt, just for the record

Again it's BioShock a Great game just not sure if a remaster edition was needed when the classic run and works fine and still looks great, when there are many other games that could use remastered editions to run on new computers.

I'm not one to write reviews but with this game i just had to.
I honestly love the Bioshock franchise, I've played all 3 games on the xbox back in the day and just loved everything about them. Seeing them on steam i thought why not, its a great game. The first game was absolutely fine, no crashes.
I've just finished this one and OOOOOHHHHH MMMMMYYYYYYYYY GGGGGGGOOOOOOOODDDDDDD, the crashing. I'm fine with a crash here and there, but what the f***. I would say the crashing got so bad during and after Gil Alexander level. It's so frustrating, your going about and then BOOM crash and it only auto save when you go into a new level so all that work you put in, you have to do again.
It got to the point where i was saving every 5 minutes and then when i was doing the last battle it was more like save after killing an enemy, (kill then save then kill then save and so on).
It's probably better to play this game either on XBOX or PS.
Now time to start Bioshock Infinite (hopefully there's no issues).
