I bought this game in early access, the dev seemed to be cool, updates were frequent and the game grew. So I put it away for a while and forgot about it. Now I have played and got 100% of the achievements and I wonder: what went wrong?

[*] The game is shallow. Whatever mechanics I saw in it in EA - it didn’t get past this. Yes, there are different locations - but your actions on those locations are the exact same. There are only a few zombie types and only the boss can be a problem because of his insane HP pool. Only 2 weapon types and different weapons in the same type just have a different name, icon and damage - they all work the exact same way.
[*] Useless mechanics. Cars? Why would you want them if they only drive on the roads, require fuel and will always meet zombies that use the same roads as patrol roots? Crafting? It is easier to find items you need. Camp? Yes, you can build it, but upgrading it is simply a waste of time, it simply offers no benefits to do most of the things in it. And the main reason for it is rather simple:
[*] It takes way too long. And by “it” I mean everything. Looting? Select a location and skip 50 turns. Building? Skip 100. Training a stat in your base? How about 500 turn skip or more? I will be honest, ⅔ of the turns I played were not doing anything fun, but spamming the “End turn” button. Was it fun? Hell no. Did it pay out? Not really, as the zombies were not a problem anyway.

Overall, this game had potential that was burned down as the dev thought that the game was “good enough”. And to add insult to injury he moved on to make the same exact game with a different tileset instead of making something good from this one. So instead of buying this game you too should move on to something better.
