Bottom line: it's way too short.
I'm stuck in an awkward position because I really do like this game and I want to recommend it. I think this has great potential. Everything positive the other reviews say about this game are true.
It's just sadly nowhere near a full game.
I just feel like I played the intro to the game and it was over.
I don't mind paying 14.99 if that money is spent towards completing the game. Flat out, this game is unfinished.
I hope to see more of this game in the future.

Great little game that is a joy to play through, just so visually pleasing! Absolutely fun to play through, and just exist in the Fujii world. As great and amazing as it is, I did go through it in around an hour, but I'm perfectly happy with that. It fits for this game extremely well. Thoroughly enjoy and highly recommend!

You can view my review & extended gameplay here: https://youtu.be/HhmOlrvxv4Y
Fujii has two very different components. One of them is a very simple garden sandbox where you can plant any available seed that you want and you can also place pots almost anywhere in the garden. You can also collect some little creatures to decorate around your plants. You then water & pet the plants and watch them bloom where they can then flower a magical light orb that is the currency for buying more stuff. This is a simple sandbox where you can decorate your garden almost any way you can imagine with simple interactions and minimal effort.
The other component of Fujii is the main exploration game, where you traverse three different islands and light up the surroundings via exploration and tactile, simple puzzle play. This is meant to be relaxing, zen type gameplay. The visuals are fantastical and the sounds / music are relaxing. It is also family friendly gameplay.
Fujii is not a bad game. However, for a jaded VR veteran like me, who has played over 1,000 VR games, it's a bit lackluster. There isn't much depth here and the interactions are too simple. Plus, it's an Oculus Quest port to PC and you can tell. It has some very low resolution textures which brings down the otherwise lovely aesthetic. And yes, there is only teleportation and snap turning available.
I finished the game in about 2 hours. I did my best to explore every area and spent as much time as I could in the garden. In the end, this game just isn't for me. I understand that. However, I believe my criticisms are valid. I expected a bit more depth, especially in the garden and higher-resolution textures.
Rate 6/10. I think others may and have enjoyed this more than me. However, when Brian Taylor of BigBossBattle writes that "Fujii is a flower-filled garden of surprises that showcases everything wonderful about VR in a single experience," I can only imagine that this is the only VR experience he has ever played. It's magical, really. The way you interact with things feels wholly natural, the atmosphere and music is super calming, it's gorgeous, I mean, there's not much else to say. I just want more of it.

Fujii is a mesmerizing experience. It’s a rather simple puzzle game with a lot of easy solutions, but it doesn’t take away from how immersive and joyous the whole game is. A fantastic example of what VR is capable of delivering.
Also, very very short, much like a lot of VR games right now. You can probably squeeze three hours out of it if you really dig it.

I played this in two sessions, the second time starting the game from Oculus Dash. Apparently the game can be launched without Steam, so about 45-60 minutes weren't counted in my visible playtime.
Fujii provides a masterclass in how to implement motion controllers in a virtual reality experience. Aside from ergonomics like stretchy arms and remote grabbing, the level of interactivity with objects in the world is off the charts. Fantastical flowers can be caressed with the hands, each petal moving in a realistic way. It's great to poke and prod things in these surreal natural environments.
Restoration is a great theme for a chill game and can give a sense of satisfying progression, along with a feeling that my actions are meaningful and are having positive effects.
An area where I think this game goofed up is also related to progress. Seeds can be planted in pots at the nexus/home garden and they take time to grow. But instead of the maturation and flowering times being measured in seconds, it's minutes. Lots of minutes.
I believe the garden plants' growth will continue while out in the levels. But it's still a long time and once the levels have been completed, there's not much to do except wait. Some kind of fertilizer to make the plants grow faster would have been good, or just reduced growth times.
The game is very short, but it's very well polished and oozing with lovely details and creative visuals. I highly recommend this for every VR gamer's stable of relaxing games and experiences. (You all do have one, right?)

One of my early VR purchases. Very cute game. Easy play and navigation. Good game to introduce someone to VR. Gather seeds and plant them to get more. Explore different areas of the environment. Gentle movements and I did not feel any disorientation. Recommend.

Just finished Fujii. It was an experience.
Cautious recommendation. For some people that Fujii will really be their bag.
It's the first game I've played that was largely developed with the Quest in mind and it showed but it was still pretty despite being low geometry.
I played it on the Index and wouldn't say it was a great use of finger tracking; you had wobbly fingers and the menu was sort of a plant thingy stuck to your fingertip and lots of the interactables were the grab gesture. If you want a linear follow-the-path-and-do-stuff while making pretty plants react to your fondling them then go grab it, but it was short (~90m) and I'm not crazy about going back and growing all the plant seeds I collected.
Maybe I'm not just chill enough it had a few pretty sequences and if I were new to VR it would have been a bit more awe inspiring. Eager recommendation for those who are, in fact, chill, and want something ... not even low intensity, but perhaps low difficulty, linear, and experiential.

1.5~2 hrs. game play,
3 places to visit to gather seeds,
buying all the seeds then planting um.
then abrupt end, confused.
Works well with Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop Streamer.

This is a very special game. Fujii is absolutely full of charm, character, and magic. While I haven't even finished it in 2.5hrs, I'm already in love. It's the type of experience that you want to play through slowly and savor, enjoying the beautiful sounds and sights. The aesthetic and the experience as a whole is incredibly relaxing - exploring, gathering light to push further, and collecting seeds to grow a garden.
And beyond is the Index controller support. It's absolutely wonderful being able to grab, pull, and interact with the world using fully tracked fingers. The implementation is extremely well done and adds so much to the experience. This was the first game I tried after receiving the new controllers, and I think it was a perfect choice. I'll likely use it as a first experience to show others the Index controllers as well.
Highly recommended if you want a magical and relaxing journey to go on.

I love when VR expiriences are polished and have a vibe that they're sculptured specifically for VR platforms. This game has not only that, but a unique art style and athmospere. Shape of some seeds and your stretchy arms borderlines with body horror, but overall flowery aesthetic helps this game to stay wholesome

Fujii is an exquisitely pleasant VR experience. I hesitate to call it a game per se, as it has more of the feel of a "walk through the plot" feel (a la Coming Home or What Remains of Edith Finch, but with less detail and talking). But whatever it is in nature, it is surely beautiful--a feast for all the senses SteamVR can currently provide. I was dazzled and engaged throughout; it had a Lisa Frank-grade vibrance to it that made it uniquely pleasant, particularly in an era rife with staunchly grim realism.
It also runs the gamut, helping the game feel like a diverse world you're entering, rather than having just one motif the whole way through. Some twists at the end add unexpected depth to it, given its egregiously cute and vibrant design until that point.
That said, it is quite short (I completed it in under 2 hours), and has essentially no replay value (unless you're a completionist and really really like a fanciful form of virtual container gardening), so be aware that some may find its value for the dollars to be lacking. I personally was nonetheless delighted, and while I will likely never open it again, I will remain appreciative of what it was, for what it was, while it lasted.

I "finished" the "game". As I completed the final task in the third domain, the words The Reclamation is Done showed in the sky. I planted my three seeds from the last domain with a mix of happiness and sadness. Happiness that all was complete. Fish were now flying above me, the little chirping critters I had come to love had multiplied, and my gardens beautiful even though there were so many areas yet to plant. Sadness because the "game" was over as a puzzle. But it will always be here for me to come back as a meditative experience. It was a feel good game to play and will always be a feel good game to return to visit.

Really great polished game + very cute little creatures. Immersive, interactive, great haptics/ hand mechanics. It took me about 2 hours to casually go through the entire game but I still go back in to continue tending to and growing my garden. Hoping to eventually have a jungle. Very relaxing!

I got this game in one of Steam Sales, I like VR too much but when it gets late I prefer to play something relaxed. Since the beginning I love the whole game, the interactions the music and the colors. The story is simple a beautiful. I'm playing my index controllers and it feels great. After I visit all the places I spent a couple hours in the garden, every other day I come back and do more :) I am at 5 hours in the game and I can't stop playing but I know soon I will need to give up since.... I need more pots! I believe this is great for kids and for when you want to relax and meditate without having a real garden to take care of. I can't add more details because I don't want to spoil the game but if you like cute experience in VR, this is one :)

Lovely game. Nice simple graphics.
I will definitely change my review to thumbs up when the game is finished.
Some functionalities (shovel) don't work and it is impossible to revisit the last area. This makes it possible to miss out of some content.

THE BEST VR GAME in my opinion. Beautiful soundtrack, amazing art style, creative gameplay mechanics and just a generally delightful environment.
The Valve Index also provides a very realistic feel to the game... Like you're really in that world and you start to think that all the wonderful plants and creatures you encounter are not just fiction.
Unfortunately, due to the short gameplay I refunded it as it was also free with my Viveport INFINITY subscription.
Lastly, I'd say this is an outstanding game for the Index at this point in time.
Update: I wasn't able to resist getting back into this beautiful world so I bought the game again. Fujii gives me the option to escape from the occasionally harsh reality and get into a much more peaceful and harmonic world where nothing matters.
I guess this is mostly a good thing but something tells me it's not all good.

Wooooow, I just played this game 70 minutes without a pause.
It gets the gameplay Loop, going from one section into another.
And the graphics are so cute ^^.
Only problem I got, is loosing two seed, that I dropped.
Played it with the index controllers, it has excellent support.
The feeling of grabbing and hitting in combination with the wiggly Body simply feels good.

Fujii is a fantastic game.
I love the atmosphere and the unique interactions with the environment.
I just wish there was a way to change the height of the world so that my daughter could play easier.
She has a hard time reaching some of the things.

Did you ever play Okami and think to yourself "Man, I wish this were a puzzle game/gardening sim"? If so, the answer to that wish would be Fuji.
The Good:
1. Art Direction -- Fuji has style in spades. The cute cartoon graphics are simple, but lively and loaded with character. Everything moves, wiggles, bounces, and dances in this world. The radiant color palette pops vibrantly, and the environment is full of music and surreal chirps and warbles from the flora and fauna around you. Some areas are genuinely moving in their beauty -- be sure to visit the standing stones atop the mountain in the desert. Don't forget to look up once you've activated everything there!
2. Controls/Finger Tracking -- If you've got a set of Index Controllers, Fuji will let you interact with the world largely by reaching out and touching it, reserving a minimum of actions for "gamey" inputs like trigger pulls or the face buttons. Finger tracking support was overall pretty solid, and felt natural and fluid. Only mild hitch was it seemed like the grip input was a bit sensitive by default, leading to periodic errant grabs of critters and inventory contents.
3. Performance -- No frame drops, stuttering, or other performance annoyances. Fuji ran smooth at 120hz on the Index.
4. The Ending -- No spoilers, but there was a thing I wanted to do as soon as I rang the bell in the desert mountains and saw what came zooming by. I got my wish in the end. Thanks Devs! :-)
The Bad:
1. Length -- Like many VR games, the main story mode of Fuji is pretty short. I finished it in about 2.5 hours, including a break between each island to do a little gardening. Once you finish it though, the game unlocks a freeplay gardening mode, which is nice. Makes a good addition to games to just relax and enjoy the art in, like the Blu in free mode.
2. Difficulty -- The puzzles are generally quite easy, so if you're looking for a challenging puzzler like Myst, you'll be disappointed. The puzzles here are more to get you to slow down and play with the environment.
The Ugly:
1. Stalk Puzzle -- There was one kind of counter-intuitive puzzle in here -- the stalks that you need to carefully pull down like you're climbing a knotted rope, all the while they play a song. The prominence of the music makes it seem like this is a music/rhythm puzzle, but that's a red herring. You actually just need to grab the next bump up the stalk when it flashes the white ring around itself.
Final Thoughts:
Fuji's a short but sweet little game with loads of character and the added bonus of being an early supporter of finger tracking with the Index controllers. If you're looking for somewhere beautiful to stop and smell the roses, you might want to give this charming archipelago a visit.

I love the game, shame it's not longer. DLC expanding the game when?
I like how hands were implemented, "jellyness" works really well with current finger tracking tech of Knuckles. And game overall is gorgeous in it's own special way. And very cute too.

I started this up expecting to play 5 minutes so I could delete it and free up some space. Needless to say, that wasn't what happened.
A delightful little exploration game with some well paced puzzling, collecting, characters and areas. Best I could compare to would be a Thatgamecompany title like Flower or Journey. Will end up booting it up again when I want to relax and explore a little without feeling too stressed, which is one of those areas where VR really shines. Warmly recommended.

Great game for relaxation. The game's also available for Quest, but has been enhanced for PCVR, I asked the devs and they replied:
"hi Rune, the PCVR has a few visual improvements over the Quest version including HDR+Bloom and more "Lushness" in the grass/vegetation rendering."
Using oc'ed GTX 1080 I have no trouble using 200% res on the Index. Or leave it at 100% and use 144 Hz ;-) The game has full finger tracking support for the Index.

What a delightful game! My non-gaming friends and family really enjoy this. When you need a break from guns and violence, a bit of exploration and gardening might be just the thing. Very intuitive on any headset, and full of surprises and whimsical marvels. Once you unlock everything, you can continue to garden to your heart's content. Strongly recommended.

This one is pretty short ~2 hours so don't expect to spend a long time here. If you like to personalize and decorate with cool exotic plants, then you'll get a little more time out of it.
The atmosphere and audio work very well together in this game. I found it very calming to move through the environments. I wish there was more to explore!
There's finger tracking for index users but the game definitely doesn't need it to be enjoyable.
It's a great title to intro someone to VR but keep in mind you may need to explain some of the buttons because there isn't much of a tutorial (not that the game is difficult to pick up and figure out).
For 15 bucks and a 2 hour experience I'd say wait for a sale as I did, but use your best judgement. Personally, I like to compare games to movie prices so 15 bucks for 2 hours of quality entertainment isn't unreasonable to me.
Hope this helps!

Short and sweet, this game makes you crave for more. There are many aspects to love: the 2 companions guiding you through the story; exploration; interaction with the world; bringing light and balance; the mirror games with the large plants; gardening; collecting; crafting; replayability. The aesthetics are very pleasant and immersive. There was a lot of time spent time simply running in circles to look at ever flower and at every detail. The creatures in the different sections are lovely, chirping at you, hopping away, even just looking at you. The chimes are nice, soothing ornaments to hoard. The plants giving you orbs of light when you came back felt like they were saying "welcome home!" On the boat rides, you can extend your hands and touch the wind, and then lights, colours, and music follows and charms you to never stop.
Character designs are very thoughtful, to your hose arm and your vine fingers. Simply shaking your wiggly noodle-y limbs is enjoyable. The inventory is very appreciated, as hoarding becomes an apparent necessity. The storytelling hits home near the end when you slowly discover that not only are you bringing back the light, but you ARE the light. Each biome to explore has a theme to them, which are well developed and implemented. Collecting all the seeds is fun and makes you wish there were achievements built into the game. It is also great that you can always return to the sections and play them again to either get more seeds or more orbs of light.
My only personal issue with the game was The Darkness. The darkness is an important aspect of the game because it is there before you arrive and it is there for you to restore the light. The darkness also contrasts the bright elements of the game and makes them stand out even more (flowers, glowing, your character, creatures, etc.) There is even a biome nearly blanketed in darkness, with save a few paths of glowing grass and flowers, which is really well designed. This one was easily my favourite. The darkness is used in a very clever manner that left me impressed. My only issue with it was that it also had me terrified. Maybe this is a normal reaction. Maybe this is what the devs want to illicit. Maybe I'm actually scared of the dark and I never realised. Either way, the moments when your character heads into the darkness (especially those moments on the boats when you're floating in the dark to get to an even darker place, which looked quite eerie until you arrived) had me shrinking in fear. The glowing elements (streaks?) around you that followed and lit the way helped, and so did the companions (the glowing blue... hammerhead oarfish? was my favourite). Because I knew the nature of the game as a relaxing, anxiety-free game, it was easy to talk myself out of my fear and to trust that there wasn't something lurking in the dark.
Overall, the game was quite lovely and a wonderful experience. I currently have 1.6hours in the game and I would gladly return and play again, either to continue gardening or to replay the game. I wish there was more on the story side, but that's personal preference. You can easily lose many hours simply gardening. I would easily recommend this game to anyone that needs a moment to unwind and immerse themselves in a relaxing magical world.

I hesitated for a long time about buying this.
Since it was Funktronic Labs that made the game i knew that every interaction with the world would feel awesome, react with oumphf... VR juice...
but i was unsure if i were ready to go into such an overly cute (and mystical) world, i thought my current place in vr was as a stern grim looking wizard.
i thought that was what i wanted to be for the moment.
but no, what i really needed was to giggle, jump around laughing, petting weird cute beings that reminds me of rabbits and to be planting seeds.
i have found myself repeatedly going back to a certain spot filled with these rabbit creatures and some really nice music just to dance around holding them rabbits.
i play this before going to bed, wishing that i will dream about that world.
My only gripe with the game is that i really really wanted to play drums on some plant thingies in world 2... but they were not there for drumming on, they had another agenda.

This is without a doubt my favorite VR game. It's a beautiful and cohesive experience with wonderful art direction. It's calming, peaceful, and there's lots of stuff to mess with. The reason I have 19 hours as of writing this review is largely because of my four year old daughter. This was not only her introduction to VR but games in general and it has proven one of the best purchases in my entire Steam library. Hats off to the developers for making something with artistic vision, it's truly a work of art. In her words, "I'm sooooo happy Fujii is in this world."

EDIT(THIS GAME HAS BEEN FIXED!) I would like to thank the Dev team for making this game playable again, They have put in 1 week straight work of fixes to find out the game wouldn't work if it didn't see the controllers.
Prior Review:
Edit: This Video is 1 minute long to highlight my issue, But there have been other's with the same issue, not a big group, seems like a very small % of people just can't play it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEtKOTlQofU&feature=youtu.be
I would of loved to play this game, but I have tried re installing it 3 times, I have even opened up different games to play to make sure it wasn't me messing it up (The other games worked). I know this game SHOULD work seeing as their are people streaming it and reviewing it right now, but for some odd reason this game does this:
1) Begin to start up, everything in the headset will go into that "Starting" screen where it shows you what game you are launching.
2) The game opens up on my desktop and loads the title of the game.
3) The game on my headset and my monitor both go black screen.
I was going to use this game to stream today, but I guess that won't happen, sorry but I can't afford a $15 game that doesn't want to load for me. I will have to refund it if it doesn't end up working for me in a week, best of luck on getting it to work in the future!

This is my experience after playing for about an hour, and having explored the first area fully. I don't have my hopes up.
It's a cute experience, but there is not much to it. It's NOT A PUZZLE GAME. It's more of a "find things you can touch" game... sure, there's some exploration, but once you've seen the first few minutes of an area everything is pretty much the same (to the point that you might get lost at some point), and you just have to find shiny things to touch. In the whole first area (which is big, but as I said, starts to get boring), I only found 2 puzzles: one was a simple "Simon says" and the other was trial and error to discover that you're supposed to skip every other node. You get to collect seed for funny looking plants that you can then plant and grow and arrange in your home hub, so if you're into virtual gardening and landscaping you might enjoy that.
I guess it's fine if it's someone's first experience in VR, a cutesy place to explore, but then there are other cheaper experiences for that. If you're looking for a cute puzzle game full of color and music, try GNOG instead.

On some spots you have to grab plant and pull grabbing higher and higher - does not work properly and got me frustrated wasting like 15-20 minutes there.
