Adds three scenarios similar to Frontier and Squirrel, where you have to build a character and clear a zone to beat them, with a little story attached. Possibly the hardest content available for Brigand (besides maybe the boss of Panama) at the moment. Unlike Frontier and Squirrel, all the scenarios reuse maps from the base game, but they are jam packed full of enemies and are areas that usually aren't too big on combat in the base game. Good addition, hope to see more! Edit: A fourth scenario was added, featuring a different style from the original three as its a wave based zone defense. It's a bit jank since the AI has trouble pathfinding, but still a challenge with the sheer number of enemies. Everything I've said about the old scenarios applies to this new one. A nice addition to an already good DLC. Edit #2: A fifth scenario got added. Features new spider enemies from the Nightmare mode. Maybe the hardest map added with Battles. Spiders can DESTROY your health if you can't deal with them. After clearing the zone once for resources, the real challenge starts. Instead of clearing the zone once again after that, the map requires you to kill specific enemies that spawn after a set amount of time. You cannot save after activating the event, with even tougher enemies beginning to spawn around the map at set times. It's similar to the fourth map, except you just have to keep yourself alive and not an objective with health. Fuck the spiders, good map.

Three big combat scenarios similarish to the finale of Panama (loaded with stuff, loaded with baddies) although you can save. There's multiple fun ways to complete the objectives with different skills. Even skills like hardware and software were surprisingly useful. All three scenarios play out differently and you get 120 points to spec out a high level character before each. They're some of the most fun combat scenarios in the game, especially sneaking around and clearing pirates out of Loma Larga. It's obviously worth TWO DOLLARS even if the maps are reused.

Brigand: Battles is something that I didn't think I'd like but, I actually ended up liking a lot. It's basically a bunch of challenge maps where you fight large numbers of enemies with some optional lore to read and characters to talk to. My favourite is the wave defence map at junk fort. The randomness of the combat actually works well in it's favour as it makes the same levels play very differently each time. It's waves and waves of fun to blow up huge mobs of exploding cyber ninjas! It's a solid DLC pack for an already excellent base game.
