The random crashes to desktop ruin this one. Do not buy unless steep sale and you don't mind losing progress when it randomly decides to just stop working.

Its a strong Meh, long and repetitive beyond all measure but it occasionally shows what the series is capable of. I'm just going to say it the combat is a huge step down from Odyssey its over simplified and way too easy. I have no idea where they are going with the story now and I've basically checked out since Origins. It does what Ubi is best at and the world is breathtaking truly and the amount of settlements to explore surprised me even after years of playing Ubi's other games. Story wise its okay and Eivor is a cool character for the most part albeit rather boring. Honestly I would skip even if your a fan of the series its just a bunch of bloat but if you want a game to try to hold your interest for more than a hundred hours this would be it.

I’ve spent 228 hours in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and unlocked every single achievement—and I can honestly say it’s been an epic journey. Compared to the older AC titles, this one leans heavily into RPG mechanics with gear upgrades, choices that affect the story, and a massive open world to explore. It’s definitely a shift from the classic stealth-focused gameplay, but the change works well. It’s refreshing to see the series evolve, and Valhalla delivers a deep, immersive experience that’s worth every minute.

Valhalla nails the Viking experience with epic raids, exploration, and a deep story. The combat is intense, and building your settlement adds a nice RPG touch. The world is huge and full of things to do, though some missions repeat. Overall, a solid and immersive adventure for fans of history and action.

3 years later and still some stupid crashes and it appears I'm not the only one. Can they focus on their already released games instead of trying to make more.

Boring and repetitive. They try really hard to make the vikings look like saviors of england

"In this new world, fate is not given... it is taken." With Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed continues its transformation from stealth-action to full-blown open-world RPG. Trading Mediterranean sun for Scandinavian frost and English mud, the game immerses you in the Viking era — a brutal, beautiful, and surprisingly introspective chapter in the franchise’s saga. You play as Eivor, a fierce Viking raider (playable as male or female) leading their Raven Clan from war-torn Norway to the bountiful, politically fractured kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England. Eivor isn’t just a warrior — they’re a leader, dreamer, and reluctant participant in a grander destiny tied to the mysterious Isu and the ongoing Assassin-Templar conflict. Valhalla’s narrative spans dozens of alliances, battles, and mythological revelations. While the Assassin presence feels less central than in older titles, the Hidden Ones (Assassins) are still present, and Eivor’s journey increasingly intertwines with their cause. The writing hits strongest when it focuses on Eivor's internal struggle — between honor and ambition, loyalty and independence, fate and free will. The branching dialogue and choices offer moments of true role-playing, even if they don’t always change the outcome dramatically. The modern-day story continues with Layla Hassan, tying the trilogy (Origins-Odyssey-Valhalla) together with high-concept sci-fi revelations that longtime fans will appreciate — even if they’re occasionally a bit opaque. Valhalla fully embraces its RPG identity, offering expansive systems for gear, abilities, and character development. Combat is visceral and satisfying — heavy swings, shield parries, and brutal finishers give every fight weight. You can dual-wield any two weapons (including two shields, if you're feeling bold), and each has a unique rhythm. Gone is level-gating, replaced with a Power system, allowing more flexible exploration. The massive skill tree can feel overwhelming at first, but it encourages customization of your playstyle — stealthy hunter, brute warrior, or hybrid trickster. Raids are a core part of gameplay — you lead your crew into monasteries and enemy settlements to gather resources for Ravensthorpe, your customizable home base. Upgrading your village unlocks new gameplay opportunities, side stories, and relationship arcs. It’s one of the most satisfying and personal elements in the game. Stealth has improved over Odyssey, with social blending, hidden blade assassinations, and recon returning. It’s not quite classic AC stealth, but it’s a welcome return for players who missed it. Valhalla is gorgeous and atmospheric. From the snow-draped fjords of Norway to the rolling green hills of Mercia and the eerie mists of mythological realms like Asgard and Jotunheim, the world is vast, diverse, and teeming with life. The attention to detail is stunning — longhouses, stone churches, Roman ruins, and foggy forests are all painstakingly rendered. The cinematic lighting, changing weather, and haunting skies make exploration a joy. The soundtrack, composed by Jesper Kyd, Sarah Schachner, and Einar Selvik, blends epic Norse instrumentation with solemn, ambient themes. It perfectly captures the melancholic grandeur of Viking life. Voice acting is also strong, with Eivor (particularly the female version, voiced by Cecilie Stenspil) delivering a layered, commanding performance. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a bold, confident fusion of myth and history, RPG systems and Assassin legacy. While its massive scale occasionally spreads itself thin — and the main story can meander due to its segmented structure — the sheer breadth of content, emotional depth, and atmospheric world-building make it a standout. It's not a return to stealth roots, but it’s a saga worthy of the series’ evolution — one that carves a new legacy in blood, snow, and song. Recommended For: Fans of Viking lore, open-world exploration, and RPG mechanics with rich historical flavor. Avoid If: You’re craving traditional stealth-focused AC gameplay or are overwhelmed by massive open worlds. Valhalla asks you to conquer, to lead, to reflect — and above all, to choose your destiny. In the end, it’s not just about becoming a Viking legend. It’s about what kind of legend you want to be. Rating: 7/10

The game is just okay. Some elements are good but they are lost in the huge amount of pointless junk content in the game. If they cut down the content and shortened the narrative it likely would have been much better. Still a better game than Odyssey but, like Odyssey, a terrible Assassin's Creed title - they really need to go back to the roots of the title. The main issue I don't recommend is because the game still crashes fairly frequently (for no reason). If you can embrace some jank and are just here for the viking aesthetic it can be a bit of fun.

I bought AC1 on launch and have played every game since. After 433 hours I finally 100% Valhalla. Why did I spend so much time playing? Because I'm a masochist. If it wasn't for alcohol, I would have never completed this game. I can't imagine playing this sober and thinking it was a good time.

I can't recommend a game that crashes every time I play. It doesn't matter whether I am in a larger town, running around the countryside, in a river raid instance, playing as Havi, running around the DLC as Eivor, looking through my menu, or walking after picking up a piece of Opal. It is a constant occurrence. I think it has something to do with the auto save feature or Ubisoft Connect. I have the AMD Ryzen 7, RTX 3060, 32 GB of RAM, and a TB of storage, and it isn't a custom build. I even have the graphics on the game turned down. It just crashes constantly. The story is fine. Eivor is a fun player character. I could take it or leave it with the Havi content, which is unfortunate. The Norse pantheon is pretty interesting and fun to explore, but the game story isn't as compelling. So, it can feel tedious running around as Havi. Especially, since you don't drop in with a built Havi. There is no benefit to playing as him, and he is a frustrating character by merit of who he is. I preferred staying Kassandra in Odyssey and meeting the Greek pantheon through her. I find myself less and less invested in the real world/current story line with each new game, though. Combat is neat. It's another AC where stealth isn't exactly necessary. There are very few instances where you are required to be stealthy to complete the mission/location/etc. The skill tree fills out really quickly. Inventory management is awful. Though, I don't mind the way you level your gear. Overall, it isn't an awful way to pass the time. If it didn't crash all the time, I would genuinely enjoy playing it most of the time. I enjoy playing games to achievement completion, but this one is a little taxing to dedicate the same amount of time and effort to as the last one.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is like Skyrim and The Witcher had a beautiful, axe-wielding Viking baby raised on Norse mythology and sheer chaos. The open world is absurdly gorgeous—so much so that I found myself ignoring quests just to vibe in a fjord with my longship and questionable life choices. The combat is meaty, the raids are satisfyingly brutal, and let’s be honest—dual-wielding shields should be illegal and yet here we are, thriving. Eivor is a total badass with the emotional range of a Shakespearean warrior-poet who also headbutts for fun. Epic game. A must have for AC fans.

Every AC is more or less the same. I do however think that this does not have to be a problem - if you know what you're in for. Still this one's a tad too long to justify itself. After like 50h (!) I just wanted to be done with it. Cut it to half the length and we're golden, it's got a good setting with intriguing characters! I can't really recommend this to anyone who likes finishing games.

Would love to play this game, played every assassins creed up to this one but nope, constant crashing, the longest I have played is 10 minutes. I've verified files, I updated GPU drivers, I deleted the cache, I launched as admin, I launched from the ubisoft app, I've went through every reddit thread, youtube guide and used Chat GPT to debug it and nothing works. I even reinstalled the 100+ gigs after just installing it the day before. Nothing works. Game is broken, the only thing I didn't try is installing old gpu drivers recommended by chat gpt and thats because those drivers are no longer available on the nvidia website or it told me the wrong version idk. Also, tried to get a refund but was denied because Ive had it longer than 2 weeks so now I'm here.

It was relatively fun for like the first 20-30 hours and just gets more and more boring as it goes on. It's literally the same formula recycled for every region. You just want the main story to be over with and the whole thing is just 20 long side quests stitched together and you can't skip any of them. Absolute slog

I've played through most of the AC games now, including the earlier Ezio trilogy. Although those games have a certain quality that is missing here, particularly in the form of stealth, I really enjoyed being a Viking warrior and chopping up Saxons. Ubisoft does their research, and it shows in a game like this. Valhalla is massive, and I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of the collectibles and mysteries. The alliance map got to be a little repetitive towards the end, and some of the enemies felt overly difficult even when fully leveled up. I got so frustrated fighting Draugr Hemming at one point that I started shouting and pounding my computer desk. I would have liked to see fewer boss battles and more tactical and stealth missions. That said, it's still an awesome game with a ton of great content.

This game has so many stupid quests, exploring every single door, like??? My man I just wanna explore the surroundings, do cool parkour and kill people. I don't wanna be no detective looking for a stupid key like crazy, to unlock a door so I can talk to a guy and then finish a stupid mission. This is a long a$$ game with repetitive combat mechanics and stupid quests. Too much dialogue too.

A great game. Large varied maps, with lots of things to do that rarely feel like a chore or grind. Sweeping story. Complicated levelling up that can be auto-assigned. Lots of power ups like explosives, poisons, jumping attacks and pyrotechnics. Synin, your Raven, provides an interesting aerial view capability (Synin, be my eyes) that adds to the functionality and the atmosphere of the game. Combat can be a bit annoying. Controls can be a bit sus as things like spacebar is jump, except when it isn't, and you plummet like a stone to the ground. Some great humour. Strong characterization. The one DLC I have tried (Siege of Paris) offers a lot of extra content, new mechanics, and still a serious challenge. All in all, an epic game, not without faults, but easily worth putting up with them. If it is on sale with all DLC, it is almost certainly a bargain worth snapping up, regardless of the price.

Beyond expectations, this game is much more serious, tense, and emotional. The combination of the previous series is made into one here. With a medieval theme where the Vikings invaded various countries, one of which is the land of England. Viking-style battles by being able to loot a village or fortress owned by the enemy. Also establishing relationships with local people and choosing choices that will affect the future.

What a ride. Probably one of the longer games that I've played, and it kind of tended to drag along at parts, but I enjoyed this. The combat was fun, and the story of Eivor the Viking stayed engaging the whole time. Even though I'm happy to be done with it, excited to move on to another game, I will miss this one.

While I don't think this game is perfect, I think that its worthy of praise. Do i think all of the different elements jive? no. Do i think this game is worth your time? absolutely. If you're an AC fan, i think its worth your time. If you're not, I would probably rec AC1, AC3, or AC Origins if you're looking for a chapter to start at. This is definitely not it. But if you're going to be jumping into this franchise for the first time. If you're a long time fan, I think you def need to buy this game.

Rating: 7 / 10 NO new game+ Easily one of my favorites. I played this on release and its still somewhat fun years later. -During Raids you get audio glitches. -Game crashes once in a while. -Amazing voice acting. -Storyline: Besides taking over England there is no story. -Gear: All gear is unique in power and look. -Side quests: Are more involving. -Combat: Is a joke. Enemies are pacifists, they hardly attack. -MONETIZATION: Page after page of endless pay to win crap. -DLC: I never bought any of the dlc, but I've heard its not worth it.

One of the best games I played ever! At the time of playing it did felt overly long, yet only from the point of view of a completionist trying to churn maximum games and achievements in as short time as possible. Because as far as the world, its characters, story, and music go this is a marvel! For me it's among the pantheon of the best and a game I will be replaying just to be a part of it once again.

This game takes the mechanics developed from AC Origins and AC Odyssey and polishes them further. It also brings back famous mechanical elements from earlier games like social stealth or dialogue scenes with the dying targets. I really like the versatile exploration, giving you the option to explore via foot, mount or ship.

Game does not understand what side quest means, you have a story developing in England and your task is to pacify all regions and in order to achieve that you end up doing "story" missions which are copy-pasta basically with enough differences so that it doesn't feel like doing the same thing. Also "Order" questline is basically you kill random people which are doing something which makes no sense looking at the bigger picture. If you want Assassin's Creed gameplay, install AC1 or 2 and play as Altair or Ezio, goats. This one is not even fun to play, it's just stunning because the graphics are nice.

What a roller coaster this was... There is a gem of a game somewhere in here. Shave off about 60% and this might be my favourite of the new AC games. The good: -Forgotten Saga rogue-like expansion, some of the most fun i can remember in an AC game -Graphics/music/atmosphere -Weapon/combat variety The bad: -Way too much content, not always a bad thing, but in the case like me you decided to 100% the game, there are literally hundreds of insignificant side quests and loot. -The main story drags, you have to essentially conquer every region of England to progress which is repetitive and by the time you actually finish the story I'd be impressed if you remember story elements that happened 50 hours of game play ago. That being said. If you're a fan of AC games. I think this is worth a play through, just do yourself a favour and try speed through the main story and skip all the side content, its not worth it.

I really hesitated whether to vote recommanded or not recommanded. The game follows on AC Origins and AC Odyssey's formula, and offers a new time period to explore. But the result is kinda meh. Game keeps crashing, and the world map design feels a lot like ruins simulator, with extra hollywood vikings wooden structure on top of it. It's enough to scratch my Assassin's Creed itch, so I guess if you too are addicted to the franchise it's worth playing, but don't expect a master piece.
