Content-wise, there's a nice selection of guns, and you can unlock preset loadouts of certain weapons early on through loot challenges or scavenger hunts that include puzzles. The game looks good — but for me, that’s pretty much where the positives end. My favourite element of Far Cry games has always been taking over outposts — the challenge and tension of going all-out guns blazing or sneaking in quietly. But in this game, the number of outposts is very limited. I basically ripped through them right off the bat. Some sections of the island feel absolutely dead. Sure, they’re challenging, but with no civilians in sight, they just feel empty — more like a battle royale map than a single-player or co-op experience. Co-op — You have to complete the first island before you can play with friends. I get the idea was probably well-intentioned, but in practice it creates a “can’t really be arsed” attitude, especially from mates who aren’t into the story or progression and just want to have fun straight away. Recap: Fewer outposts = less fun. Co-op locked behind progress = less fun. Another thing: I like to sync my 360 rotation distances between games — for example, hipfire and 1x/ironsights should feel consistent. But the game only lets you choose between set sensitivity values instead of giving you a proper slider like other FPS games. I know my ideal ADS rotation value is somewhere between 45 and 60, but Ubisoft makes me choose one or the other — so I either hilariously overshoot or undershoot my targets. To finish — there’s love in this game, you can feel it. Some of the team clearly did their best with what they had. But others? Lazy. It’s like being handed a beautifully presented cocktail that looks great, tastes good at first… and then every sip has a pissy aftertaste. Eventually, you stop drinking it. And now you’ve got that aftertaste lingering while you think, “Do I really trust the next cocktail they’re going to serve me?” What would need to exist for me to invest thousands of hours? More life — Random interactions that have real depth, not just “drive from A to B” filler. More outposts and strongholds — Ideally, as many as Just Cause 2 has settlements, with varying difficulty and size. Creative freedom for the devs who care — Let them add detail, be bold, be controversial. Emotional punch — Some of what I came across made me howl or nearly cry. That’s rare. That’s a strength Far Cry should lean into. More bastards, more murder — Give us villains with twisted morals or interesting motives. Let us choose whether to kill or spare them — and make those choices matter. No more train tracks — I felt railroaded from the start and lost interest by the final act. True hipfire and ADS customisation: The dream setup would let us tweak decimal values in-game. Ideally, let players either link all zoom levels (1x, 2x, 3x etc.) to a base ADS value or fine-tune each one separately. Ubisoft already lets you change the sensitivity for things like mortars — so this isn’t a wild ask. Having this level of control massively boosts immersion for players like me, who come from competitive shooters and want to fully lose ourselves in Far Cry’s world. Instinctively flicking to an enemy and spinning 360 instead? Rips you right out of it. It also kills any interest in DLC — because the same problem will still be there. So my wallet stays closed. In a strange way, this game feels like a shadow of its predecessors. It improves in some areas, sure — but loses touch with the soul of what made earlier Far Crys must-play games. Not because it got better at some things… but because it forgot why we show up in the first place.

POSITIVE: The game and the story is very good, I played it with male Dani and loved it. There are 3 main story-lines leading to the end of the game, I liked all of them, game takes itself lightly, gives you supremo and hell lot of cringey dialogues but it's great cause it's a game and sometimes I want them to be clingy and less idealistic, change is always good. Far Cry 5 was a serious brain washing action rampage, Far Cry 6 is a comedic-friendly enviroment where you put down a dictator, and trust me you feel it in the last mission when Juan drives your boat to Dictator's Resident. NEGATIVE: The inclusion of RPG aspects like armor, tshirt, any cosmetic, even GUNS have RPG level system. Please Ubisoft ruin assassin creed, I don't like it anyways, please don't ruin my FAR CRY. Also the WEAPON buying system was much better in FC New Dawn > FC 5 > FC 3 > FC 4 > FC 6.

“Viva la revolución — and bring a rocket backpack.” Far Cry® 6 brings the series back to its political roots, dropping players into a guerrilla uprising on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, a clear homage to Cuba. With a charismatic dictator, chaotic freedom-fighting, and an arsenal as over-the-top as ever, this is a bigger, bolder, and more explosive Far Cry than we've seen before — even if it doesn’t entirely escape the franchise’s familiar formula. You play as Dani Rojas (playable as male or female), an ex-soldier who reluctantly joins the revolutionary movement to liberate Yara from the grip of Antón Castillo, a dictator portrayed with chilling precision by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian). Castillo is a strong presence, though he's often underused — his screen time is compelling, but limited. His ideological grip over Yara, and his strained relationship with his son Diego, offer intriguing depth. Meanwhile, Dani is a refreshing change — a voiced protagonist with personality, giving the story more weight than past silent leads. The supporting cast is a mix of wild, memorable freedom fighters and satirical oddballs — including a wheelchair-bound weapons engineer and a cigar-smoking crocodile named Guapo (yes, you can pet him). Far Cry 6 doesn’t reinvent the wheel — but it does strap a rocket engine to it. Massive Open World: Yara is the largest Far Cry map to date, divided into regions each with unique biomes, cultures, and rebel factions. Resolver Weapons & Supremos: You’ll craft makeshift weapons — CD launchers, backpack flamethrowers, EMP blasts — making every encounter feel like a DIY warzone. No Skill Tree: Progression is gear-based; you equip clothing with perks, adding RPG-like loadout flexibility. Guerilla Gameplay: Outposts return, alongside convoys, roadblocks, and “military targets” — giving you plenty of ways to chip away at Castillo’s regime. Animal Amigos: From stealthy panthers to wiener dogs in wheelchairs, your AI companions are powerful, weird, and lovable. Combat is slick, explosive, and highly customizable. Whether you're creeping through tobacco fields with a silenced rifle or blowing up tanks with homemade missiles, the game gives you endless creative freedom. Yara is stunning, filled with dense jungles, crumbling cities, coastlines, and mountain strongholds. The world feels alive, not just because of enemy patrols and wildlife, but due to its political murals, resistance radio broadcasts, and civilian life trying to go on despite the violence. Voice acting is solid across the board, with Esposito delivering a menacing and believable performance. The music blends Latin beats with military drums and underground anthems, immersing you in the spirit of rebellion. Far Cry® 6 is a bombastic sandbox revolution — confident, colorful, and crammed with content. It delivers on the fantasy of leading an uprising, complete with absurd gadgets and cinematic flair. While it doesn’t break far from the series’ blueprint, it polishes that blueprint to a high shine. Its main flaw? Familiarity. If you’ve played multiple Far Cry games, you’ll recognize many of the same rhythms — climb, shoot, loot, repeat. But the personality, presentation, and player freedom still make it a thrilling ride. Recommended For: Fans of open-world action games, players who enjoy explosive creativity in combat, and anyone looking for a tropical playground with political bite. Avoid If: You’re fatigued by Ubisoft’s open-world formula or looking for a deeply nuanced political narrative. Far Cry 6 is a riotous revolution in paradise — not radical, but fiercely entertaining and impossible to ignore. Rating: 7/10

Weakest of the modern series. A large portion of the allies/faction characters are just unlikable. Couple this with the cringy dialog and I found myself actually skipping cutscenes just to get the annoying characters off the screen. Thankfully, you don't seem to lose out on any of the story by doing so. The tying of perks to clothing was also a bad move, it breaks up the flow of combat to change clothes just so you can do more damage to helicopters or put on your 'pants of vehicle repair'. Speaking of clothing, hope you like your character looking homeless with the designs of everything. Overall, I probably wouldn't recommend this one but at least I got it at a steep discount during a sale so it tempers the level of disappointment.

Guys, I think this may be the first negative review I have ever posted for a game. Even if I don't like a game, I usually just uninstall and move on. But I hate this game so much I felt compelled - and I say this as a person who put 143 hours into Far Cry 5 and loved it. The same game-play that made Far Cry 5 great is still here - good movement, gun play is good, it's fun to drive around in the vehicles, very immersive and well designed open world, and so forth. So, why do I hate this game? The characters and the story are shallow and obnoxious. The NPCs who I'm supposed to be teaming up with are intolerable. I'd rather join up with the villain of the story and kill all these insufferable NPCs than help them. I will gouge my eyes out before I play another minute of this game. If you want a good Far Cry Game, play Far Cry 5, which is the last good Far Cry game Ubisoft ever made. Before deciding I had enough, I got an achievement for completing one of the areas/ sections of the game. It basically means I finished roughly 25% of the game - only 10.9% of players have this achievement. Only 10.9% of players made it more than 25% through the game. That tells you everything you need to know. PS - Ubisoft, the name of the game is Far Cry, which is a reference to the term 'a far cry from home', meaning you are far away in an unfamiliar land. For example, in Far Cry 3 you play as an American on a tropical island; in Far Cry 4 you play as an American on a trip to the Himalayas, and so on. So, why is it in Far Cry 6 you play as a guy who is native to the tropical island where the story takes place? Again, the name of the game is Far Cry.

The meat of a decent game is here, with the now standard Far Cry formula taking on the vibe of Just Cause. Consistently wild and funny, with some clever exploration puzzles being a weird highlight for me. Unfortunately, it all ends in an abrupt "fuck you for playing" ending. The people at Ubisoft just can't help themselves. Still well worth getting on sale.

-Bad Writing -Easy even on hardest difficulty (AI is extremely stupid) - Castillos special forces shoot at me with their SMG's while having a fucking RPG on their back. They really are his "Special" forces. -Huge map with nothing interesting on it -Super cringe characters I don't really care about -I don't know if I've ever seen uglier outfits for the main character it's actually impressive how ugly they are. -Its funny sometimes when I played it with my friend but other than that this is like some B movie you watch high with your friends where halfway trough the movie you either fall asleep or turn it off. -This whole game feels like it was made by AI - No soul at all :vomitemoji:

Decent game with some frustrating issues. Far Cry 6 offers a solid experience with a fairly good story, though I personally found the earlier titles in the series to be more engaging. Graphically, it looks nice and the gameplay feels smooth and fun. However, one of the biggest issues I encountered was related to co-op multiplayer. When I tried to play it a second time with a friend, despite having a stable ping (20–25ms) and identical settings that gave me 120 FPS in single player, I experienced massive FPS drops in co-op mode — so bad that I eventually uninstalled the game out of frustration. That said, for solo play, I still recommend it if you focus on the game's strengths. But the technical issues in multiplayer really hold it back. I’d rate it 60 out of 100 overall. System: i7 13650HX / RTX 4050 / 32GB RAM.

This game is the ultimate iteration of the formula started with Far Cry 3. It is a highly-polished open-world action adventure game with some socio-political overtones that can largely be ignored. There is an overwhelming abundance of things to do, and no particular order in which they must be done. I like to pick this up when I feel like playing a first-person shooter but without needing to exercise the kind of twitchiness associated with online PvP.

AI in this game is fking trash and garbage. Whenever any follow NPC quest arrives, they sometimes cluttered, stop moving or sometimes move very slowly which is so annoying to complete any missions. Calling a vehicle is also another annoying thing; the AI didn't drop the vehicle properly, sometimes ran over me, and sometimes dropped it in an inefficient place. The main mission where npc was supposed to be to deliver me to the spawn point it didn't even try to cope-up. Fking garbage AI.

Great game. Fun combat loop with interesting enough characters to keep you at least somewhat invested enough to continue playing. Highly recommend modding the game to give yourself premium items as having an online store for a single player game is atrocious, though keep in mind that the store's items can be abused to make early game a cakewalk.

pretty fun game for someone who hasnt played any other farcry game. i loved the action and how brutal it is. i really liked the villain in this game and i did enjoy most of the games missions. the optimization is really good not ever experiencing fps drops or something like that. i really recommend playing it as it is very lengthy and will take some time to complete it unlike some other games nowadays but from what ive heard it is that you will either like it or not bc (from what ive heard) it is pretty different from the other farcry games and the franchise has kinda shifted to something different

Honestly this game is kinda good This game might not be as good as 3, 4, or 5 but is in my top 5 far cry games. I really like the graphics and the details might be the second most detailed far cry ive seen, but of course far cry 2 is the best in detail wise. I really love the idea of a Guerrila fighting a corrupted Goverment even though far cry 4 had the idea first this one felt much more of a war rather then 4. Jasob brody is the best protagonist for sure but i really love Dani's character aswell. the villian was great as well not as great or iconic as 3,4,5 maybe 2 but still a great Villian. Overall i do give this game a strong 7 to a light 8. ( also including dlcs ) Not as good as 3, 4, or 5 but good game

Finished this game in VR using Luke Ross' mod. Beautiful open-world game with a fun story that doesn't take itself too seriously. The only other Far Cry game I'd played is the first one (in VR) and this was a big step up from that game. Took me about 42 hours to complete it and I'm already looking forward to going back through the franchise's catalog of games to play more (in VR of course).

Game and the first 3 DLCs are great fun. Lost Between Worlds is so poorly designed I quit after 2 runs, not even worth the achievements. Buy the gold edition on 80% off sale and it is definitely worth it. GOTY is a complete waste of money

It's just very mediocre, short and simple. Fun animal companions, the handmade weapons are nice, but the bugs and the existence of Denuvo and Ubisoft launcher bogs down an already weak story and repetitive game play. Removing the skill tree to put perks and effects pretty much only on clothing just feels lazy and limits the player. Bullet types are just the illusion of choice on most guns, armor piercing is just the better base round but you have to unlock it by collecting materials to access it (not hard but still). I'll still play the game because I roll around in the slop, but unless you get this game for dirt cheap on sale, don't bother, it's the second weakest game in the series following new dawn. (also fuck the practice of putting in 15 dollars cosmetic pack microtransactions in the game)

Absolute Cinema of a Game ! With the plot of a coordinated independence movement , teaching life the hard way , truth and lies, real or fake , hope or betray , all in a composite gameplay, plus ofc call of duty shooting vibes, its a all in one , bored till gta 6 ? i think its closest to the best open world game after gta 5.

I wasted an hour downloading this title during my free time, hoping to get the same vibes as games like Far Cry 3, 4, or 5… but honestly, it wasn’t worth it. It starts off pretty weak, I couldn’t connect with the protagonist’s childhood friends, and your entrance into the revolution felt super forced. I got as far as meeting the so-called leader of the revolution and honestly, it was very disappointing — just a flood of stereotypes. The “Latin American Spanish” was more like a weird mix of Castilian Spanish (no offense, but it’s not accurate). Honestly, it was a complete waste of time. I work in the video game industry in FQA and LQA for Latin American Spanish, and this game seriously lacked effort from both the writers and the localization team. IT’S NOT WORTH BUYING.

I liked all the Far Cry games I’ve played. In general, they are fun games to play. Far Cry 6 is one of my favorites. I don’t know if it’s the best, it feels like it’s missing something but I really liked the map, missions, and characters. Maybe they could have improved the weapon modifications by making them more varied. I’m still enjoying the game, and I think they made some progress compared to Far Cry 5, but not big steps.

A noteworthy piece of the Far Cry series Story: 10/10 -> The main draw of the game, immaculate! Missions: 7/10 -> Main operations are exciting and full of action, but the side missions are boring as hell. Playtime 10/10 -> Minimum of 25 hours playtime if you aren't planning to finish side missions and just play to enjoy the story, but you can easily spend 50 hours with it for the 100% completion, which I would not recommend doing due to the boring side missions. Price: 10/8 -> The long playtime and story make it worth the price, but if it’s on sale, it’s definitely a must-buy. Do I recommend? Absolutely!
