Played a pirated version for about 20 hours and decided to get the definitive edition on sale. The game seemed a bit overwhelming at first with all the characters, skills, devotion and items but after a couple hours it clicked, and now I wan't to discover more of its world. Pros: - Great atmosphere - Great depth in character creation - A interesting story with some good voice acting, although not all of it is voiced, so you'll have to read quite a bit. - Great modding scene. Smash N Grab mod basically speeds up the leveling process, grants bigger inventory space, rare item chance increase and enemies scale with your level, which makes building characters a lot quicker and less grindy. - Can be played mostly with mouse, depending on the build, which is relaxing to me Cons: - Can be overwhelming at first - Sorting through the inventory and deciding on what to keep can be tedious

For me it's a comfort game I always return to. It's a beginners friendly ARPG with a lot of replayability. It iis a great game for relaxation, but also good for the die hard min-maxers.

Version: 1.2.1.6 The game has a solid core, and I enjoyed it — especially Crucible mode. But the crashes are just unbearable. I recently bought the DLC and spent several hours grinding Crucible, only to have the game crash at wave 169 and wipe all my progress. That’s incredibly frustrating. In just 4 hours of gameplay, I had around 10 crashes. Some parts of the open world campaign look walkable but aren’t, and getting stuck there during combat means death. It’s an annoying level design flaw that really shouldn’t happen. Also, there’s a bug with multiplayer filters — after a failed server connection, buttons like "Hide In Progress Games" and "Hide Full Games" stop working entirely. The only fix is to restart the game. Until these issues are fixed, I can only recommend buying it on sale.

It is Titan Quest upgraded in almost every possible way. I didn't like it too much though, it's... too grim

This is one of those games that I wish I could vote as neutral, its not great, it is decent, its not crap either but damn it has issues, primarily been the design of the map, its like every area is a maze and you find yourself going back and forth and having to backtrack long ways to access some other parts of the map that you can see or you are right next to it but you cant get there because there's a fence or a stone wall blocking your way, so you need to backtrack aaaaalll the way around to get to what you need. Furthermore, every single mob can see you behind walls and what not and start attacking you behind the walls, or they start running this map of a maze to get to you, the pathing is so poorly done that it's /cringe worthy. Initially while playing this and getting into it the first few hours, it's a drag and a bore, and it still is kind of a bore, but as you progress the story line starts to open up the quests come to life and Grim Dawn starts to hold its own. But don't get me wrong, this game is 99% torchlight which is 99% Diablo and that said, you wish you were playing Diablo. This is worth playing if you are Diablo'd out and want that button smashing dungeon crawler to play but dont expect it to wow you.
Best (Diablo like) Action RPG game of all time.
The vanilla game with DLC provides a ton of content for thousands of hours, thanks to regular updates and a bunch of mechanics. Also the game has a large community that has created giant mods, like a complete port of Diablo 2 to the Grim Dawn engine or literally seasons with their own rules like in Path of Exile

Peak of ARPG and game ahead of time - mullticlassing - day\night circle and weather effects - various locations and hidden secrets - fractions and reputation system - ingame loot filter! - craft and many things to improve items - and more... Progression didnt make feel you hobo and gaves items to hold build you do or change it after short time (Music is kinda meh, try to use own) Cant wait for new DLC and announce second part (rummors already come)

This game is way better and more fun than Diablo 3 & 4... I do know Diablo needs a Paladin for Diablo 4. GRIM DAWN is hands down the best 3rd person game out there. The controls are the best too. You can zoom in and circle 360 degrees with your char. They let you change your weapons and clothes to what ever you want it to look like with the game system that is set-up for you.

Effectively the closest one will ever get to a Diablo 2 experience but in a game that punishes you so much less for playing around with experimental builds and archetypes. There is a solid answer for so many things that engaging with the mechanics of the game and its systems is a unique fun unto itself. There are so very few oversights, and over time they continue to update the game to make it even more fun and flexible. Nothing feels wasteful or redundant, everything has purpose if you dig far enough. Combined with controller support, it makes for a great experience if you love Action RPGs. Honestly, as someone who has played many Loot Focused Action RPGs, Grim Dawn is certainly one of the few that feels lovingly made. The quests, the lore, the world design, all of it feels like walking into a Spirit Halloween Store and its absolutely enchanting.

It's just playable enough by the 2025 standards, and it's fantastic in its own right. Huge world to explore, people to save, passives to take, 15 affix items to read. Chef's kiss.

I played a cracked version of this game for close to 150 hours across multiple characters. I decided to buy the game because I want to play it more and also support the devs on their upcoming DLC. This game is an actual gem to chill, relax, and have a good time farming, building, exploring, fighting, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS. as someone who has hundreds of hours on PoE and Diablo, This game easily tops these two. its the perfect balance of Diablo's gameplay and PoE's build crafting complexity all put into one product named Grim Dawn!

Grim Dawn is good ARPGs. The atmosphere, deep progression, rich world, and old-school spirit with modern mechanics make it absolutely engrossing. But… there’s a catch: the co-op is a mess. Servers are unstable, connections often drop, and playing with friends feels more like a struggle than fun. That’s a big letdown for a game that screams for co-op. Also, we strongly request Ukrainian localization. Grim Dawn has a rich lore and tons of text that deserve to be available in Ukrainian. It’s not just about language — it’s about inclusion and respect for a growing community of Ukrainian players. Amazing game. Awful co-op. Ukrainian localization — urgently needed.

Do not be detracted from this title by people saying it is not another game, that would be a very subjective take and you would be missing out on a unique experience. I also play several other games in the same genre, D2, POE; as much as i like these games they are just another fruit in the same basket, maybe bigger fruits, but not nescessarily ''better'' fruits. But then again i would be argue'd against because of the subjectivity of it all. Grim dawn does pull from some other title, which makes it a more up-to-date action RPG. I have played thousands of hours in grim dawn and several other title like D2 and PoE and grim dawn does have its place amongst them. I recommend this title and i want more of it.

finally something a casual player can play and get addicted too. not to complex but just enough to feel unique with your own choices, classes and skills. its good. it hits that point and click- type itch without bombarding you with a thousand systems you need to memorize. but has enough to make it feel well thought out and still complex but just enough for a casual to understand. pretty good. im going arcanist/occultist because i wanna be like lore Voldemort from harry potter. going for the ultimate wizzard. or at least thats what im hoping for as a new player to this game. theirs a shit ton of other buffs and shit to choose from in one of the systems in the game called "devotion points" youll just have to play and take my word for it. coming from someone who refunded baldurs gate cus it was wayyyy too complex for me whos just a casual

This is the kind of game where you play 20 hours and then immediately buy the every DLC because it felt that good. To be honest, this is my first proper ARPG experience. Installed GRIMTEX mod to upgrade textures and rainbow filter for easy management. The atmosphere is super grim, the combat is crunchy, and the build variety is insanely satisfying. The deep lore, dual-class system, and that beautiful feeling of clearing a screen full of enemies with a well-tuned build is something that will keep pulling you in again and again. It's not just a game. It's a rabbit hole. And I don't want to climb out.

It's almost a beat for beat ripoff of things in Diablo, but original enough to be different. Feels very much like a spiritual successor to Diablo 2, like what Diablo 3 should have been instead of the mobile game cartoon low effort trash it was. Solid ARPG that's easy enough for new players and has enough challenge for veterans. It's over 10 years old and I can say with confidence that it has more heart and effort than Diablo IV. Has some of that low budget charm, but it's a very well made game and a must play for any ARPG fan.

Great take on a Diablo 2 style arpg. The world and lore are engaging, combat/leveling feels great, and if that weren't enough the devs are still supporting the game with patches and content updates. Grim Dawn also features an incredible amount of build diversity thanks to it's dual-class system. Great palate cleanser if you made the mistake of playing modern Diablo.

An Underrated Gem for ARPG Fans (Especially Necromancers!) I'm 4 hours in and already hooked. Grim Dawn takes everything I loved about Diablo II—gritty atmosphere, satisfying loot, and deep class building—and cranks it up with a dual-class system that makes theorycrafting genuinely exciting. I'm currently running a Necromancer/Occultist build, surrounded by a squad of skeletal warriors (knights, archers, and mages) and backed up by a lightning-flinging Storm Raven. It’s absolute chaos in the best way. The combat feels weighty and responsive, and the customization options are incredibly rich. Every level-up feels meaningful, and summoning a literal army never gets old. The story is decent—dark and grim like the title suggests—but it's the gameplay loop that shines. Looting, upgrading, and tweaking your build is endlessly rewarding. Only hiccup for me was figuring out how to assign skills to hotkeys at first. Turns out, a simple right-click on the skill bar does the trick. After that, smooth sailing. If you’re a fan of old-school ARPGs with modern polish and deep customization, give Grim Dawn a try. It’s a skeleton party and everyone's invited.

This is a great games for fans of the top down arpg style of games. Grim Dawn does throw you right into the game when staring from the menu without much of explaining of basic mechanic. But it's all pretty simple to get a hang of. Like for starters, when making a character, you do not choose a class, you only make a character. You don't choose a class until you've started and play enough to level up (reaching the first level up). Grim Dawn also gives you the option to multiclass at level 10, but only with one other class. There are 50 levels per class with a total of 100 character levels. When it comes to leveling up and having one or two classes, you get 3 skill points per level (with the exception of getting 5 a couple times, dont quote me) but you have to choose wisely how to spend them because to get skills to use you have to use skill points to level the respected class up then a skill point to buy the ability, this makes having 2 classes a bit more work for the mind. But one nice thing Grim Dawn gives, is 9 skill hotbar slots, with a secondary 9 slot hotbar. Skills are also not limited to class abilities, some items and components in the games will grant the ability to cast a spell or for a spell to kick off on kill chance. Objectives. Grim Dawn is not a game were the mini map has an arrow saying the objective is this way. Instead Grim Dawn just shows the map and if you get close to an objective it will show on your mini map as a star, but again ONLY IF YOU ARE CLOSE IN PROXIMITY TO THE OBJECTIVE. The game offers a normal mode, veteran and hardcore. When it comes to dying in this game you only lose small amounts of xp, but on the mini map it will show where you last died and you can attempt to repick up that lost xp. The bosses in the game even on normal mode are not to be taken lighty, which is nice. Another really great thing about Grim Dawn, is theres a feature theat allows you hide/show loot drops. For example, if you are fighting a massive horde of enemies or a boss or whatever else, you can make it to were the loot will only drop after everything is dead. so you don't have both enemies and loot spamming the screen. If any of this seemed interesting then i highly recommend getting this game and trying it, on sale or not, its your money!

The best way I can describe this game is that it's Diablo 2.5 but more. Feels like a halfway point between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3's mechanics with it's own spin on things. Character building in this game is the greatest part, you're not restricted in the sense of a traditional class system and everything is viable

Why ddin't I try this hidden gem of a ARPG before? Beautiful progression with great depth, the games throws decent quests with lore and occasionally you have choices to choose from. I cannot recommend this enough to people looking to play an ARPG. I bougt this for 5 euros but even at full price the game is well worth the price tag and there are multiple DLCs to sink your teeth into. Graphics-wise it holds quite okay I would say, no bugs at 20h so far and the game runs buttery smooth. It's a decade old game but don't be discouraged, try it and you won't be disappointed.

Getting a bit outdated now but still a good game. Single player, no online only BS, even has some mods for anyone that is into modding. Much more chill and relaxing then POE or Diablo games, you can play it bit by bit as time is available instead of stressing if you'll be able to finish a season.

Grim Dawn is one of my favorite games of all time. It is in the Pantheon of ARPG gods, like PoE and D2. I CANNOT WAIT for the Grim Dawn 2. I'll be there on day 1 ridding the word of the chaos one horrible monster at a time. Seriously though, this game is a 10/10 ARPG in my book, if you don't mind it being mostly single player. There IS a community and there are mods as well which is a clear advantage over other games which lack the ability due to being Live Service Games. I recommend it, full price, to anyone who likes ARPGS, looting, making cool builds, and exploring an immersive post apocalyptic world. The devs are awesome and deserve our support so they can make another legendary banger.

Update: The recent quality of life updates have sent this game from great to amazing. ------------------ Grim Dawn is a theorycrafter's dream. The game is entirely about building and testing out your creation, finding its weak points, and tweaking. You can keymap a dozen different actions if you want and play it like Hades, trying to dip/duck/dive/dodge everything. You can just use one or two buttons and try to build your character into a Star Destroyer on two feet, tanking endless waves while nuking everything from orbit (meteors can be very fun). You can build a character that dodges everything. You can specialize in one-handed guns with a shield. You can dual wield axes. You can dual wield pistols and play the game like a shooter. You can mix together a mage and a thief. Or a soldier and a necromancer. Or an arsonist and shaman. The whole point of the game is to have fun trying out your ideas. Each class has multiple skills and paths, and a sudden amazing item drop can make you totally rewrite your character into a new upgraded version that totally changes your playstyle. Buy the game now. It's so good. Pro tip: Build up your resistances first, especially when playing Hardcore mode. The difference between a 70% resistance and a 90% resistance is way more massive than you think, especially when it comes to not being one-shotted by some random elite.

The game has been out for almost 10 years and they are still ACTIVELY updating it. If you like this style of game, the action RPG, then there is no reason not to grab this one. The dual class feature is very fun and will lead to lots of experimenting to find out what works for you. You can go pets, spells, tank, DPS, or any mix you would like.

Path Of Exile but better, can be played offline and there's a lot to do. If I had to guess, at least 100 hours of content just from the base game alone. (that is if you intend on maximising each stat and trying multiple builds, completing the game on different difficulties.)

I initially had low expectations for Grim Dawn, given that it's an old diablo-like game. However, I never anticipated how addictive it would become. Watching a few beginner guides really helped me grasp the basics quickly, and from there, the game pulled me in with its rich story and engaging world. Playing with a controller is very enjoyable after a few setups, which made the experience even more comfortable and immersive. If you enjoy action RPGs with a classic vibe, Grim Dawn is definitely worth your time.

Definitely one of the best if not THE best ARPG available right now. Game design follows patterns that may seem dated, however they don't. Ironically this classic approach is a breath of fresh air among new entries in this genre. Game is not always online which makes you approach it at your own pace. It has depth but reveals it in such a way that player doesn't feel overwhelmed. Two class system (simillar to Titan Quest) allows for a lot of combinations and paths to build your character. Expansions gave many mechanics in a way that previously established content doesn't feel obsolete or not fun. Evenr at regular price game and its expansions are worth it. At sale price it is a no-brainer
