The tiles are okay, but the real value is in the music. Not all of them are great, but with 14 tracks for $10 you're getting a song for 70 cents a piece - very worth it IMO. People tend to undervalue masic files, but once you've played a few RPG Maker games all with the same music it starts to get on your nerves. Does for me, anyways.

Nothing here is particularly thrilling. You get a few tilesets that include some nice cave, ice dungeon, and forest dungeon pieces, as well as a lot of "composite" tiles that are just rearrangements of what's included with RPG Maker MV. There are some faces edited from the Character Generator. There are some new music tracks and a little bit of bonus content. Unless you specifically need the tiles in this set, I wouldn't bother.

I'll be short with this, The Best thing in this 'DLC' is the tileset addons. Some useful Dungeon bits, and town bits, to help flesh out the world a bit. The music is nice, for a little extra diversity, But a lot of this I feel should have already been in the RTP. As much of an advancement MV has been, then did take a large step back in what they provide to help beginners get started. And while I have used every RPG Maker up to now, The RTP has definately gotten smaller over time. And while this does foster creativity, it provides a bit of a barrier to entry. If your on the fence for choosing Between the cover art characers pack and this one, I'd say get this one for the utility more than anything.

''Ready to take your RPG Maker MV project a step further? Essentials Add-On pack is a brilliant starting point!'' In what way exactly are you making a step further I wonder? I bought this thinking that the content is like in most other RPG Maker DLC, that you just have to mention in the credits you were using the pack for making the game. SPOILER: It's not enough! At least not for the images... If I wanted to credit every single art I use, I can find tons of free characters, facesets, tilesets, etc. on the RPG Maker Forums. Even for commercial use. But since I paid for the content in this DLC, I then expect that I just have to mention I was using the pack, and not that I have to mention every Tom, Dick and Harry who is the author of this or that single image or few images at best! And for those of you who are ready to take your RPG Maker MV project a step further, and are unlike me willing to track who knows how many artists made various single images you used in your game from paid DLC, and are willing to credit these potentially countless artists at the end of the game - yeah, don't buy this either. The product name and description are misleading, there's only a few images in the DLC and none of them are essential! That said, I was actually still considering giving this DLC a thumbs up, since luckily the music (14 tracks in 3 different formats) licence just needs you to credit the DLC pack when used for RPG Maker and as such is more ''user friendly'' for my project... but I still decided to put thumbs down, since I feel the products name and description are really vague and misleading. There is nothing essential about this pack and it's basically just a music pack. Except for the 14 tracks that are Ok, there is IMO little content. The asking price for this DLC is totally Ok when on sale, thus if this DLC was being sold as an RPG Maker music DLC pack with a few bonus images, I would definitely give it a thumbs up! Sadly it's not.

I am honestly p*ssed right now. The whole "this is a brilliant add on that will let your project shine!" is all bs. I got rpg maker a while ago but couldnt really use it because there weren't many options for character design, or tilesets, then I saw on there page, "The Essentials Pack, a Wonderful expansion for new creators!". So i saved up $20 for this thing hoping it would get me started on my game. No. Wrong. The whole thing is literally music, the tilesets are just for the outside of a dungen, The "emotion-packed character facesets" are literally 4 default basic character faces, for the town stuff they just copied and pasted the town stuff you already have and Its difficult to even tell the differance. Now I got no money in my wallet, a useless add on i cant refund, and a really bland unfinished game. Thanks So Much All of You at RPG Maker!

This is useful but if you don't get it on sale with the rm mv bundle it's not worth it. Pros: Really nice tileset cons: not enough content for 11$

Nice addition to your rpg database. Music is one of my preference since I have 0 talent for music same with art, but I can do simple image editing so not so bad. The tileset is good enough for me. The town tileset is something that can be done if you have knowledge on how to do so but for me it is a nice addtition. It is just a polished version of standard town tileset. Facesets is as what the description says, facesets with emotions for standard RPG Maker MV heroes. As for the bonus icon and title background, not so much that I can say. The icon may get some of it usefulness but for the title background, it depends on what your game is. In my opinion, a good addition to your database but for total beginner in art and music. If you have middle and above skill for art and music, don't bother this DLC since it is not for you.

If you're just starting out this is a useful addition to your project. It has extra facesets for the default actors and some good music. The tilesets are lacking, sadly. Overall this DLC lives up to being called an add on. If you can wait for a sale and pick it up for pocket change.

Honestly, I think that this essentials kit comes with everything needed for someone to make a fully fledged RPG game right from the computer! The extra map pieces really add a spice that no other DLC can do.

RPG Maker MV easily has the best collection of music out all RPG Makers. MZ's music is okay, but it's not very varied, and the older ones sound a little outdated (unless that's your style). You won't run out of music choices with this and it's worth it for that alone. If your project is unique or takes over two hours to beat, this is a cop (when it's on sale).

Absolutely worth it. loving it so far. Rpg maker is a dream come true for people who want to make games but don't know how to code! Highly recommend!

Note: Essentials Kit is misleading. This product would be better labled "Add-Ons". Pros: - 7 Original Music Tracks (MP3 and OGG) - 1 Full Town Tileset (Outside + Inside) - 4 Dungeon Entrance Tileset - 8 Faceset Image Emotions for each "Harold, Therese, Marsha, and Lucius" - 4 Key Tiles (1 Key for each Dungeon Entrance) - 3 Title Backgrounds - The ReadMe states it can be used for Personal and Commercial Use Cons: - 7 Repackaged Tracks from the base software Final Thoughts: Honestly, I think alot of the hate for this product is because it's mislabled/advertised improperly. I think users would get alot more value out of it, or would be more aware to avoid it if it's not for them if the product told customers more accurately what they were purchasing. I find the Music Tracks to be the most valuable here. They breathe fresh life into a very stale base music selection, while not straying from the medieval fantasy roots.

I recently got the Engine and while it looks nice the DLC does not appear to be on my computer nor in the game despite steam saying it's installed. Help would be appreciated.

I think I have wasted my money on this set of game assets, despite following Steam community instructions and copying files from the DLC folder to the game folder - even though some of the folder names were not there - when I us RPG maker I cannot find the new assets. I think the developer should include an updater or very detailed instructions on how to get these assets into the intended application.

Pretty good-looking stuff in this DLC, but seeing that I try to avoid using the standard graphics/sounds/music it's kinda useless for me. But, seeing that I got this for free for pre-ordering I don't really mind.

Frankly, this is pretty borderline. I like it and all, but there's not a whole lot of content. The main things are some new tiles and some new music tracks. There's also new faces for the default characters, but those only work if you make an RPG with the default characters. Anyway, I think it's 1 or 2 dollars too expensive for what it is, but I would, in fact, purchase it.

Great for starting off with, especially since I got it on sale. It has plenty of things to learn with and even to use later. Also it looks like a lot of games I’ve played before!

Purchased this in a bundle during the 2016 winter sale. Great for tile collectors like me. I recommend buying this during a sale.

Got it as a preorder bonus, it is stored inside the DLC folder of the install, like all other DLC is and all other RPG Maker versions.

Just gonna put my review of this product here.. Some of these tiles were ok. You get 'some' sprite sheets with extra little snippets on it, but the real deal here I think is the stash of music you get. There are some premade buildings like that ice temple seen in the sample images. A few premade houses as well. The boss themes are more upbeat and catchy and make great scene music too, the church music could be used else where also. Really a huge amount of music here for such a low price. If you like the tiles you see in the samples provided then let the tile be a little extra slice of pie for your purchasing pleasure meow. The music is the deal here.

Its not very worth it. I'd only reccomend buying this for the music. Everything else can be achieved via Parralax Mapping or you can make a game perfectly fine without these. They arent "essential".
