THE LONGING - Soundtrack

Honestly a well-crafted soundtrack which compliments the crippling loneliness you experience in the game. It's dark, haunting, beautiful, and lonely all at the same time.

I know gamers tend to be easy to please when it comes to game soundtracks. Now listen to me, kid, whilst I educate you on the facts of life: this game's soundtrack really is amazing. I think this is probably the best soundtrack I've heard in a game. I could just listen on YouTube but bought it to donate more money to the devs / artist. I'm really into ambient music and this is my dream soundtrack. In fact it goes to show just how important soundtracks are for adventure games and how a great one really adds so much atmosphere. I consider The Longing to be one of the greatest games ever made.

Now that I've finished the game I'm experiencing the game solely through the OST. My god I miss this game. This OST has such atmosphere that I simply cannot describe. Like the game, it's an experience itself. I miss having the Shade sit somewhere for a while just so I could listen to the music. To have the Shade sitting in his house reading a book while I sat there reading myself, listening to the quiet house music and the crackle of the fire. I'm almost sad revisiting the soundtrack, the game will be something I will never experience for the first time ever again. I miss it so much, my heart aches. My favourites are 'Old Caves', 'Dreams of a Well', and 'Mushrooms'. I kind of want to make a version of 'Home' with the in-game sound for the fire. I'm not sure how I'd go around doing that, though.

I'm a The Longing superfan- the music is great and many times I've gone to bed while leaving my Shade in a room where I liked the music. Why would I not want this soundtrack? It's glorious. Luv you The Longing you're a masterpiece.
