Amazing how a 2017 game is so good today in 2025. Graphics, Gameplay, Story Line, all top notch. As a major fan of RE 1 and 2, this one really have the essence of those games! A must have for horror fans!

10/10 masterpiece. A little different from other Resident Evil games, and much scarier than any other RE game too. The ending was so good, I ended up watching the credits.

For me, the first 2 hours of this game are video game history. Alone for that incredible dread, horror and basically torture p*** the game is worth it. Besides that, the game itself is quite short - and I took my time. Also, sadly, there are parts that keep me from replaying the game again (ship), but then there is the rest of it that just is perfect. It is nearly 10 years old now, and though the lighting has a few issues her and there, it still looks phenomenal. I wish they stayed with this kind of realistic story, because Ive never played quite something like it. Its horryfing. I loved it.

The greatest Resident Evil installment I've ever played. It's annoying having to get some of the collectible achievements but it makes up for it's repeatability. This is EXACTLY what I expect to play whenever I indulge myself in survival-horror games.

Once again great story but terrible game play. Why can't Hollywood just follow the view game instead of that abomination they came out with years ago. I know cripples that can run faster than Ethan. Felt like the buttons were delayed needed to start blocking 3 seconds before you actually mean to block. The DLC was more fun than the actual game.

The pinnacle of first-person survival horror and one of my personal favourite entries of the Resident Evil franchise. CAPCOM has absolutely nailed the atmosphere with this one, I highly advise you give this game a go: 9.5/10 !!

Pretty good. Sometimes the jumpscares are obvious but you dont really have to play the previous games to know whats going on besides for the ending which is somewhat answered in the free dlc.

"I thought I was just looking for my wife... ended up attending the creepiest family dinner in gaming history." Resident Evil 7 is a masterclass in atmospheric horror. Switching to first-person was a bold move, and it completely works — every creak, every shadow, every distant thud keeps your heart pounding. The Bakers aren’t just scary… they’re unforgettable.

Longer and scarier than RE8, I’ll start with the positives — this really is a great Resident Evil. The atmosphere is fantastic, the Bakers are truly terrifying, and the sound design is amazing, which makes the game incredibly immersive. The puzzles are creative and well thought out. On Normal, the game isn’t too difficult — it’s actually a bit tougher than RE8, which was very easy. There are also lots of hidden items; you might think you grabbed everything, but when you use the pills that reveal nearby items, you realize there’s so much more to find, which is a nice touch. The mother and father are great bosses, and the garage fight was really original. now the negatif The biggest downside of the game, in my opinion, is that the monsters are very repetitive. They lack variety and feel really redundant, which doesn’t make the game any scarier. I would have preferred classic zombies instead The second biggest flaw — and one that’s often a problem in Resident Evil games — is that the further you progress, the weaker the levels become. The early sections are incredible, but as you go deeper and deeper, or further away from the house, the environments just get worse. The ship, wasn’t a great level, and the cave was even less impressive. but overall the later areas really drag the game down the Bakers are far more terrifying when they’re still human rather than monsters — except for the mother The intro of the game is a 9, the mid-game is a 7.8, and the late game is around a 5+. That’s why I’d give it an overall score of 7.5.

I think this is the only RE that captured the "horror" vibe in all of RE history (Before Village came out). Because you're not a trained police officer or special agent. You are just a guy trying to find your missing wife. It's scary and fun, things became boring after leaving the Baker family's premises though but it's still a game worth buying and playing. 10/10

Resident evil 7 biohazard, is a great game and really connects with the horror roots like re2r, whereas in re4r we see more of the “lighter” side of horror. Is it as much of a masterpiece as re2r? No, this game definitely has its flaws. Is RE7 Biohazard a bad game? Certainly not. It still follows a great story line and we get introduced to new characters and we also get to experience 1st person, which is actually very decent! Our main protagonist Ethan is such a sweetheart, but is kinda bland in re7 (he's way better written in re8, not to say he isn't great in re7 too, but definitely better in re8.) We also meet the Baker family, and they are greatly written and all, but can't carry the story alone. I would still recommend this game if you're a big fan of Resident Evil games, but there are definitely better RE games to start out with!

A resident evil game that brings back the horror fans be thriving for, play as Ethan Winters as he searches for his wife who been missing for a long time at a supposedly abandoned house. Unfortunately for him he meets the baker family who's been infected and is being controlled by a female entity known as eveline. Craft weapons, combine key items to progress through the story and slaughter molded abominations and of course engage in mini boss battles with each family member including Ethan's wife Mia. So far I've been having a blast playing this game and despite it being out for 8 years the game holds up very well and its optimized even for lower end pc. So if you're looking for a horror game that'll keep you on your feet this game is definitely the one to get.

I watched other people play Resident Evil 7 when it first came out, and aside from Resident Evil: Degeneration (the movie), this was my first real entry into the Resident Evil saga. I loved it from what I saw, and now that I finally got the chance to play it myself, I can confirm that it’s a great game all around. The atmosphere is intense, the horror is on point, and don’t forget—go tell Aunt Rhody, everyone is dead.

I purchased this gem right when it came out. A couple weeks later I got a little time to sit down and check it out, about 40 minutes in and I shut it down and uninstalled. Not because it wasn't good, quite the opposite in fact. I got so creeped out and so stressed in that 40 minutes that i just noped out entirely. I finally started it back up here recently and TBH I'm kind of glad i uninstalled way back then, because now i get to come back and enjoy this excellent addition to RE . I don't think I've had this much fun since the OG 4.

genuinely a pretty peak horror game. the story is interesting, the game is scary and intense, and the graphics still hold up well. i think this game made a lot of people either try resident evil for the first time, or come back to it. the dlcs for me felt a little lackluster but thats why theyre dlcs - so if you just want to enjoy the base game only then thats perfectly doable.

Obviously this game we see Resident Evil take on a much more horror focused approach than action/survival. The combat is a lot less fun and engaging imo compared to the other entries, but the game is definitely more interesting, unique and overall very memorable. The Baker family imo were extremely well done as antagonists, and I was really impressed at how well they did the atmosphere, environment, and the scares. Game looks amazing and visuals are all around very cool and fitting. A few of the puzzles were also very memorable compared to puzzles from the other entries, and I really enjoyed the Banned Footage extra content from the Baker Family (esp 21).

Game starts off terrifying and spooky inside the house but then goes a little supernatural and the atmosphere is still there but the helpless feeling you get is gone as you're given an arsenal throughout. First house = spooky Rest of game = fun ride

Do not waste your money on this crap, after you leave the house (5 hours of gameplay) the game became so boring during the boat section. This is not a stupid outlast or amnesia game; it is supposed to be a RE game. It's a good horror game but an awful RE game. Play RE1 remake instead of this game, now I understand why many classic RE fans disliked this game

I have always been a Resident Evil fan ever since I played the first game on PlayStation 1 as a small child scared outta my mind. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised with this game! The story kept you hooked all the way up until the end, the frights were LEGIT.. I jumped SOOO many times! DLC content is actually pretty darn good as well. I would say all in all a solid 8/10.. a little shorter than I would've liked but a fantastic game nonetheless!

Highly recommended. Although it strays completely off your typical RE formula and has probably the most basic number of enemies in terms of NPC the game has it's high horror moments for the first half until it becomes again the usual more action oriented second half of the game. Some intriguing puzzles(Happy Birthday) make for some quick thinking but the game is remembered by the amazing boss fights with Jack which especially on Madhouse create a massive challenge. DLC are much harder than the actual game itself and some(21) rely on RNG that can cause you to rage. P.S. Without spoiling much.... From the first moment you enter the game everything happens for a reason and I feel after a couple of awkward wtf moments in terms of someone's positioning, the last 20 minutes of the game finally explain any confusion arising.

I just re-listened to the trailer for RE7 with Go Tell Aunt Rhody song, and it gave me chills again. A truly amazing modern survival-horror game. I do think I'm biased as this is the first of the genre in which I truly felt in love with, but still. It's a true work of art, with incredible design and captivating story which I've absorbed everything I could've from it, cause I love it so much. We never got Silent Hills, but we got the best resident evil comeback there could've been.

Being my first introduction to the Resident Evil franchise, this game is nothing more than a near perfect horror experience. The only complaint I have is that one of the last sections of the game where a bunch of lore gets dumped kinda drags on for too long.

Cool game. I've never been a big Resident Evil fan, in fact, RE7 is the first entry I’ve actually played through in its entirety. I’d tried RE2 and RE4 before, but they never quite clicked with me. That said, I really liked the Bakers. I normally hate the swampy, mould-and-rot aesthetic, but I have to admit it's incredibly effective, unsettling in a way that’s different from the usual gore-and-blood-soaked horror we’re used to. It gives RE7 a unique identity. One thing I appreciated is how easy the story is to follow, even if you're coming in fresh. There are a few nods to the wider franchise, but nothing that alienates newcomers. It's quite self-contained. Where I seem to differ from most other reviews is in the scare factor: I didn't find it particularly frightening. Silent Hill 2 Remake genuinely scared the hell out of me, but RE7 didn’t. Maybe it’s the setting. I’ve always found zombies (like those in RE1–3) more unnerving than the sort of horror on display here. Next up is RE8, and after that, I think I’ll circle back and start from the beginning — RE1, 2, 3, and 4 — and see how it all ties together. I hope everything is done when 9 arrives.

It's not often games are able to actually build tension and scare you without needing cheap jumpscares. This game is an amazing mix of story, horror, combat, and difficulty. The game has a lot of replayability, giving you extra item for beating the game faster. The DLCs, although short, are very good too. If you want an extra challenge, or if you just hate yourself, theres extra difficulties for you to try out, such as Professional (Not A Hero DLC), Madhouse (Main Story), and Joe Must Die (End of Zoe DLC.) There's even some extra gamemodes that are very fun, like 21 (Blackjack if Jigsaw was the dealer), Nightmare (Semi-Roguelike), Ethan Must Die (Torture), and Jack's 55th Birthday (The non-serious fun gamemode.) If you were to buy this, I highly reccomend getting the Gold Edition, since it has everything. Overall, its a very good and cary game, and its definitely a 10/10.

More focus on horror than RE4 but the gunplay is pretty unsatisfying since all the guns are woefully weak even in the more action-oriented DLCs. The walking/running speed feels abysmally slow at times. The main game is on the shorter side but the DLCs provide substantial content so I'd say the Gold Edition is worth it. For completionists, some of the game is really tedious and unfun (
Joe Must Die/Madhouse
). Overall I had a good time but the game is far from perfect.

I really liked this game. At first, the constant anxiety got to me and I stopped playing for a while. Recently, I decided to try it again and, holy shit, this game is good. It's actually scary, unlike every other RE games. Don't get me wrong, I loved 4 and 8 is pretty good, too, so far, but they aren't actually freightening. RE7 also has such a great grounded in reality, grimy, and disturbing Texas Chainsaw kind of environment that is beautifully made. It felt quite immerive and fairly believable. It turns out I also really like the first person perspective, despite it being different from previous RE games. It helps with immersion for me. Overall, I'm thrilled I decided to pick it up again and finish it. Highly recommend.

Super fun and doesn't take too long to finish! You connect to the characters despite the short time and there are plenty of funny lines as well as horrific visuals. The theme song also SLAPS! A great action/horror game and you don't need to know all the details about Resident Evil in order to enjoy it. (Knowing some helps with background knowledge but you could play blind and still get the main idea.)

Mixed++ feelings playing it myself years after watching playthroughs. First runs are always great and refreshing, but RE7 severely lacks replayability due unskippable cutscenes, linear and simple puzzles (no backtracking), and no pressure for threat outside safe zones. Still, the first act and the Beginning Hour demo spiritually connected to past-me and delivers a timeless experience to this day. I'm still new on the series, but RE2R gets all of this just right. Something inside me was always agonizingly blinking or trying to make sense of the story and puzzles information, yet RE7 was always predictable and bland. How come both games have disconnected/poor ambience parts btw, sewers and ship are just unwelcome lmao As a completionist, quite some achievements are plain boring or annoying to do, and feels more like a chore than a challenge. Didn't bother at all with some harder DLC ones, specially 21 with the cheating enemies, end of zoe (zzz), not a hero (story was already over?), bedroom was nice though. Collectibles being missable with artificial difficulty made me drop. Maybe one day I'll backtrack myself and finish what I didn't, but I simply wasn't having fun after the second run, and don't have the time or mental bandwidth anymore for things outside of what I actually care. Apart from that, great story for those still un-spoiled :)
