I love the "vibe" of this game; the gold filter, the soundtrack, the secret places, secret air ducts pathways, hacking people's computers and reading their emails and journals, reading their personal drama and gossip, sneaking around to see if there is anything else to hack and actually finding it. I really love the Deus Ex series. I wish they'd make more games like this.

Played the original when it came out but did not focus much on the story. Playing this again and mindblowing story aside, as a stealth ninja fan the gameplay is also too addictive. 10/10 story and gameplay

Beautiful world. Alluring art direction and elegant use of colour and lighting. Engaging and well written characters. Intelligent, impactful, and increasingly relevant and prescient story and themes

I've always been skeptical about this game, simply cause I didn't understand what it was. I played the fall before this one, at least a decade ago. Tried it after a long time, didn't like it at first. It was sitting in my library. I never gave it a chance. Then, last week, I thought, 'Let's give Deus Ex a chance, since I was in the mood for playing a cyberpunk game.' And this time I played it seriously. And my gosh, did I like it. This game has so much to offer. The narrative, the choices, the story, and the characters. Memorable. The only thing I didn't like was the constant backtracking. And especially the missing link DLC. Stealth is good, enjoyed sneaking very much. I would personally rate this game 7/10. Would have gotten higher if not for the boring repetitive backtracking going through the elevator in the missing link. And the most annoying of all - the security scanners.

This is where I became a Deus Ex fan. I remember playing this back in 2011 on the ps3 and having an absolute blast. The removal of the yellow filter in the director's cut is kind of weird though; I always thought that added to the game's personality. All in all a great immersive sim that lets you tackle objectives in almost any way you want.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution shines as a stealth-focused cyberpunk RPG that gives players genuine freedom in how they tackle objectives. The stealth gameplay is a standout—tight, rewarding, and deeply satisfying. the game encourages thoughtful, strategic play over brute force. One of the best stealth games out there if you like the genre Augmentations like cloaking, silent movement, and enhanced vision create a wide range of tactical options, making stealth feel powerful without being overpowered. Every encounter feels like a puzzle with multiple solutions, and successfully ghosting through a mission is genuinely gratifying. The narrative is rich and layered, set in a moody, neon-lit world full of conspiracies and ethical dilemmas around human augmentation. The atmosphere, backed by a hauntingly good soundtrack, helps immerse you fully in its dystopian setting. Unfortunately, the experience is hampered by horrible load times, frequent performance issues, and too much backtracking, which slows down the otherwise engaging pacing. These flaws are hard to ignore, especially during trial-and-error stealth segments where quick reloads are essential. Still, for fans of intelligent, choice-driven gameplay—especially those who love stealth—Human Revolution offers an experience well worth playing. Score: 8/10

After about 20 hours of play during the boat level, after I put the eye to the scanner, the game just stopped working entirely. Wouldn't launch. Tried verifying integrity of game files, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried restarting my PC and funky launch commands. Nothing worked.

Overall I would recommend buying this game on a discount as game itself is great, but the relative lack of post launch support makes the game difficult to run on modern hardware. Story: Though Human Revolution is a prequel to Deus Ex, the story within largely stands up on it's own merit so it can be enjoyed by players new to the franchise or returning veterans. I personally think that my enjoyment of the story was somewhat diminished due to playing the original Deux Ex beforehand, but I think understanding the references to it made up for me predicting a lot of the plot points of the story. Jensen and much of the supporting cast are well written and likable though I think the motivations of the games villains and Jensen's relationship with his girlfriend could have been expanded a bit further. The final persuasion event really made me scratch my head since the major villain's whole world view and plan were dismantled and defeated in like 5 minutes, but that's neither here nor there. All things considered the story is well put together and I think that choices the player is able to make throughout the story as well it's conclusion are handled better than in the prior two games. 9/10. Gameplay: Human Revolutions progression is largely centered around augments which opens up options for the player to progress through the map with it's impacts on combat being fairly negligible outside of inventory slots. This leads to several augments being far less useful than others though it approaches the useless of swimming as in the original DX. Combat uses a cover system with both enemies and the player feeling quite squishy with a pistol headshot being able to deal with the majority of enemies in the game. This keeps combat fluid and allows stealth oriented players to be able to take most fights, though even on the hardest difficulty I rarely felt challenged in combat. This makes stealth and a pacifist approaches much more interesting and augmentations enable these approaches, though I think that it often comes down to exploring to find the right vent to get to the objective with many of the stealth innovations from the thief series going unused. Finally some aspects like hacking and certain animations are quite repetitive and take the player out of the actual gameplay. Your level of enjoyment therefore will fall upon level design which are divided between the two hub areas and "dungeons". The hub areas are a real treat to be in and are the highlight of the game while the "dungeons" range from great to so-so. This is exemplified by the "missing-link" which massively overstays it's welcome and the final area which is devoid of interesting, threatening enemies that it feels good to stealth around. 7.5/10 VFX: Though the game is fairly dated, with some characters faces not looking very good, the games visuals largely stand the test of time with it's heavily stylized cyberpunk aesthetic. Environmental design is especially excellent and do a great job of bringing to life it's levels. 10/10. SFX: I personally didn't find the OST of the game to be particularly memorable, though the overall audio design whether it be voice acting, ambient sounds, or weapons sounds were quite good only serving to bring you into the game's world; however, I the final stretch of the game's enemy VA's were repetitive to the point where I muted the game. 9.5/10 Final Impressions: Human Revolution stands on up on it's own merits as a solid game that lives up to the legacy of the original. The game kept me engaged for most of the 40 hours it took me to complete a single campaign on the hardest difficulty and while the quality does a take a dive towards its final act, it does stick the ending with a satisfying conclusion to it's story. Overall Rating: 9/10

Really high-quality imsim, still holds up pretty well thanks to a couple of changes made by the Director's Cut. The writing can be a little goofy but it was a product of its time; the gameplay itself was incredibly enjoyable for a multitude of playstyles. I didn't have the heart to try the New Game+ mode, but I would say there's enough content in the game to give it a shot and approach every situation from a different angle. Definitely one of the greats. 10/10

Deus Ex: Human Revolution It is a first person shooter game with an very interesting story and excellent stealth gameplay. The story takes place in the future where augmentations are being used for regular as well as military purposes. The story really does a good job of getting us invested and also feels like something that can very much happen in the future. The main character Adam Jensen is pretty cool and i love his voice. The dialogue writing is also very good and your choices/actions do have effect on how the scene plays through and the overall story. But the best part for me was the stealth gameplay it was very good. Always remember to look for hidden pathways or other ways to reach the destination rather than taking the most obvious ways. Directly going into a fight is not always recommended atleast i always struggled by doing that. The soundtrack and sound effects were really good and the graphics looks good too. I did feel the game did drag a little bit at times but overall its a very good experience. Its impressive that a game that released almost 12 years ago still holds up pretty well. Highly recommended for action FPS lovers. Rating: 8.5 / 10 P.S: Looking forward to play Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Overall good game. The DLC is terrible. Pointless badly written mission. Essentially the fun bit of the game is using your cyber nonsense to overcome adversity. This isn't a shooter. Artificially making you low on ammo makes the game less fun to play. Original Deus ex has a much better story. This story feels like it was written by a load of over enthusiasts at a brain storming session. It is too busy and doesn't always make sense. When fighting the last boss i had no idea what i was supposed to be doing. Despite this, very decent game. on a generous day id give it an 8

Deus Ex: Human Revolution — what a COMEBACK, folks! After YEARS in the wilderness, they brought it back—and believe me, they did it BIG. This wasn’t made by the Old Crew, no, this was a brand new team in Montreal, first time out of the gate, and they did an INCREDIBLE job. Almost nobody thought they could pull it off—but they did. Maybe not perfect, but it was SMART, it was BOLD, and it RESPECTED the fans. You felt it. You saw it. The gameplay? Amazing stealth, tactical combat, and you actually have CHOICES—real choices! Not the FAKE kind. You can go in loud, sneak around like a ghost, hack everything, punch through walls—whatever you want. And the story? One of the best. Thought-provoking, futuristic, full of intrigue. Adam Jensen didn’t ask for this, but we’re ALL glad he got it. Beautiful gold-tinted visuals, a soundtrack that’s SO powerful—cinematic, emotional, unforgettable. The Boss Fights? Okay, not perfect (we fixed that in the Director’s Cut), but the rest of the game is SO GOOD, it’s worth it. This is how you do a Prequel, folks. CLASSY. HIGH ENERGY. And most importantly—it brought Deus Ex BACK to the world stage. Highly recommend it. One of the best cyberpunk games EVER made. Believe me! --- [b]🎯 What a REVIEW! Feels hard to believe this game is as old as it is. My real playtime is in the original release that you can no longer buy, where I played the game all the way through, with mostly stealth. I especially remember the liking the dialogue system, with the optional hud upgrade to monitor your conversation partners mood being something I would like to see in more games. As an old game it will go on sale frequently, and definitely be worth the price then.

This game is just great, like seriously it's one of the few games i've ever played where i felt kinda empty when it was over, sounds dramatic i know but that's how i truly felt. Yes it has it's flaws but i can easily ignore these considering the quality of everything else. Sadly it has a few technical issues but that's not suprising since Squeenix is the publisher and probably rushed the Pc port of this game i don't blame the developers for this, espeacially because you can tell they created this game with a lot of love and passion if you choose to active devs commentary, which i highly recommend. It's sad that we'll probably not see an other installment of the series since Squeenix basicly killed it with their own greed with the whole Mankind Divided preorder and dlc bs. Seriously F them, yes i'm mad about this.

great stealth game. would not really advise going loud, it's just not as fun because you miss out on a lot of the extra things you can find skulking around rather than just going through the front door everytime. awesome game regardless and would be so cool if they made a third or remastered the OG's.

Look i'm not going to sugar coat it (don't bother looking into my steam account, I actually played the original DEUS EX on my physical copy of the game in the 90s) but this game is the definitive version of cyberpunk. I know its a shock but really even the sequel doesn't do it justice, cyberpunk? really? its a open world of nothing and this game actually shows you what augmented human can do, sorry but 10% extra melee damage doesn't actually show what a double take down can do in cyberpunk (i like the game btw)l What i'm actually saying is the game is worth your time, yeah the graphics where bad when it came out, but its the game that gives it soul, look at me and all my reviews and i can easily tell you this one is worth you time. This is one of those games that really should of been expanded upon, not the bastarization version of DES EX HD where they literally try to sell you pieces of it but an actual game with an actuall beginning, middle and end unlike HD where they just straight up give you a start and and end in a couple of hours. I played the Original Deus Ex, I like all of them including the XBOX one... you know who you are....but i gotta say this one right here is the one that tops them all. Do you self a favor play this one.

Game doesn't even start. I could play it for some time but after 1/4 of the game I experienced a crash and since then game won't start. I tried everything: restart, verify game files, re-instal. Nothing helps. On forums I could only find that many peaople have the same problem. On modern PC and Windows 10 it's broken. Why is steam selling games that don't work?

Second time ive bought this game and still amazing to play. Sucks we probably wont see more of this series even though they have been very solid. So far the game runs good on a modern rig, just had to turn on Vsync because it would try to play the game at 700fps which was cooking my gpu. After that change its smooth as butter.

Great game, I played on hardest setting, had great stealth experience after a long time. The level designs are made well, that many time if you ruin your options, there will always be another way to proceed. Sadly, I couldn't get ghost achievement cause I fired bullets in the dlc boss fight in confusion. And yes, I had some stutter in this edition of the game when turning camera or so, it seems to be issue with game because my system is way over the required specifications, there will not be any patch for this I know, but just stating that as an issue, but not a big one. All in all, great experience if you like stealth, or tech/cyberpunk vibe or a good RPG.

Get it for 2,99€ if its on sale. Otherwise don't bother. A laughably bad immersive sim that seems to have a complete identity crisis with everything it tries to do. Which also has a overly pretentious way to explore its theme in a story that's struggling to keep your interest. One of the endings literally has him say: "Think about it" But its constantly on sale. Why not get it, If you want to experience something for the next 20 hours which mostly consist of take down animations... Then this game might be alright.

The director’s cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution falls into the pitfalls that many remasters/director’s cuts/etc type games fall into. That is that the parts that are good were already good and in the original game. The parts that are bad are often issues that were not present in the original game. That is the case here. The voice acting is great. The music is awesome. The story is fairly well done. There are a lot of decent choices in the game. There are a lot of ways you can play the game minus boss fights. Whether you want to hack, use vents, stealth, get into firefights there are augments, weapons, and level choices that will fit your style. The boss fights are very much combat driven for the most part though. Once again though all of this was true of the original game. The graphics have held up pretty well. They are showing their age in some ways but at the same time they’re not an eye sore. For a game released originally in 2011 it looks better and runs better than some lower end games in 2025. Bugs are ultimately what did this DC in for me. There are a lot of animation issues such as your body or an enemy’s body going through surfaces like walls or desks during a take-down animation. Maybe those were present in the original version, I don’t remember. What I know for a fact was not present in the original was the game breaking crashes I got on the Panchea level. At different points in that level I keep getting crashes with the error message “ran out of saved memory”. I was able to get by it once by loading a previous save but later on I could not get by it using that method, adjusting graphics settings, trying different versions of Proton/wine or anything else. I literally can’t finish the game which I had no issue with when the original first launched in 2011. Looking on the Steam forums gamers on both Windows and Linux complain of this issue dating back as far as 2013. The fact that this bug still remains in 2025 in various forms is a disgrace. There are even other bugs such as when using the social enhancer aug you can choose “charm” but it will actually choose “intimidate” instead which can cost you the conversation as the game’s code has switched the two for that instance and you really have to pick the wrong one for it to work. Once again looking at the Steam forums that bug has been unfixed since 2014. There are other bugs where objectives don’t always update properly. For instance I got a pocket secretary which told me where a person was hiding but my objective didn’t update saying I knew that info (still said I had to find out where they were) and I had to go there manually to get the objective to skip ahead saying I had found them. Don’t get me wrong, the game itself is still very fun to play. It’s just that other than making the DLC and game into one long game this DC does nothing but introduce bug after bug. I played this DC on Linux using Proton. There were five AA settings, six AF settings, two SSAO settings, a v-sync toggle, an FOV slider that went from 75-100, and four other graphics settings. You can pause and skip cutscenes. You can manually save and there are one hundred save slots or you can use the checkpoint saves. You can change the difficulty mid game. The performance was fantastic. Game Engine: Crystal Engine Graphics API: DXVK Disk Space Used: 19GB Input Used: Keyboard and Mouse Graphics Settings Used: 2560x1440, MLAA, 16x AF, depth of field off, rest at highest, v-sync on GPU Usage: 15-90 % VRAM Usage: 1624-1975 MB CPU Usage: 12-40 % System RAM Usage: 3.8-5.5 GB Frame Rate: 68-165 FPS As I have said there is a very fun game here that this DC has messed up royally. To get 36 hours into a game and not be able to finish it because of game breaking bugs that haven’t been fixed in over a decade is terrible. The original is worth the entire $25.99 CAD that it goes for but this DC is worth exactly nothing to me. My Score: 9/10 for the original but 1/10 for this DC My System: Intel i5-12600K | 32GB DDR4-3200 CL16 | Gigabyte RX 7800 XT 16GB | Western Digital Black SN850X 2TB | Solus | Dasharo 1.1.4 | Mate 1.28.2 | Kernel 6.14.6-319.current | Mesa 25.0.6 | MSI G2730QPF 2560*1440 @ 165Hz | Proton 9.0-4 (also tried experimental)

After completing the masterpiece of Deus Ex, this game is a letdown. The shooting of this game is dreadful, like seriously who actually thinks its good. It's like firing a nerf machine gun. The accuracy of the bullets is dreadful, like bullets don't even act like bullets. Plus the jarring 3rd person cover perspective makes me think the studio couldn't make their mind up between making the game a 1st person game or a 3rd person game. Stealth is also dreadful and poorly implemented, you seeming get caught out of nowhere and even in darkness and missions seem geared towards action than anything else. Despite all this, the game prioritises and rewards stealth. Mission design is apparently complex with multiple avenues of approach, yet what they don't tell you is that it is a vent. Literally just an alternative path in the form of a vent. The game also rewards you with XP for finding the vent. If I wanted to be crawling in vents, I'd play Half Life instead. And when the combat does eventually breakout because the stealth is so scuffed, it turns out a enhanced and highly modified cybernetic security agent (and a former SWAT officer) has less durability than a low level thug with a pistol. The world isn't all that engaging and is plagued by the typical issues you get with games from the 2010's. They are all obsessed with graphical bloom and atrocious colour schemes. I might try and continue to play it but I really can't say I would.

edgy, quirky and philosophical. on the surface you might thing "meh neutral vs cybernetic...its been done to death." but when you REALLY look into the world and story it isn't about naturalism at all. it's a open minded discussion on human agency and autonomy. asks you to question what should humans be allowed to control and...who can be trusted to control those things?
