Man what a gem this is, even if it was released less than a year after the vanilla version (thanks marvel) It trumps Infinite in a lot of ways besides just visually
They hit a real nice balance here between newbie friendly mechanics like universal gatling strings, X factor, and huge pushblock, with good system depth like the wave dashing, chicken blocking, and tri jump combos, understanding fuzzy guard, etc. The game is undeniably fun and easy to get into once you take a few minutes to learn the main combo rhythm and a couple dhcs. IMO this game lands right on that cusp before they started making fighting game accessibility mechanics TOO friendly.
It is a very chaotic fighter, there's usually a can of seizures all over the screen, and once you fish out that hit without getting hit yourself..you confirm into a combo, and then do anudda combo into a soopa but that combo is not landing any combo but when he let down, it still a combo - you understand? In it's heyday this game was amazing, especially in person and tournaments. Today online it's a handful of veterans and it's incredibly hard to find matches, then they can be a little laggy when you do get them. It's still fun to play if you have any friends who want to play in person. There's a lot of fun characters and once you know the strategy of how to build a team of 3 in this game (like using your point character as a battery, or having a regular anchor for comebacks) There is a lot of character combinations and setup potential. Cross overs, unders, unblockables, instant air overheads, all that fun stuff.
The only thing I really dislike about the system is when you lose a character and your new one comes in, they usually have to block a mixup. It creates this cascading effect sometimes where it's totally possible to get dismantled after one character defeat depending on your knowledge of the game and the characters in play.
It's usually less than 10 dollars pretty often and still totally worth it.
