bro this game just a fever dream. like they took every action movie cliché, threw it in a blender, and said "yeah that’s survival horror now." gunplay feels like trying to aim while ur controller is actively fighting u. zombies out here just existing, not even tryna be scary fr. every cutscene draggin u away from gameplay like it’s some kinda interactive film festival. story? idk man, it’s got four campaigns but none of them make sense, like they just vibin in different timelines for fun.
but they got sexy leon s kennedy so would recommend.

Resident Evil 6 is the definition of a game trying to do everything at once. It’s bold, bloated, occasionally brilliant—and just as often baffling. Capcom’s attempt to deliver four intertwining campaigns, multiple gameplay styles, and blockbuster-level action results in a game that’s ambitious to a fault.
It’s not a total failure, nor is it the survival horror renaissance fans hoped for after the divisive RE5. Instead, it’s a chaotic experiment with flashes of greatness buried under a mountain of design compromises.
RE6 includes four separate storylines—Leon, Chris, Jake, and Ada—each offering a different flavor of gameplay. The idea is compelling in theory:
-Leon’s campaign leans into the slow-burn horror of classic RE, with creepy corridors and jump scares.
-Chris’s story feels more like a military shooter, loaded with bullets and explosions.
-Jake’s campaign is somewhere between the two, with some intense chases and martial arts.
-Ada’s campaign, unlockable at launch, adds stealth elements and narrative glue.
Unfortunately, none of them fully commit to their genre. The result is tonal whiplash: one moment you’re creeping through a zombie-infested campus, the next you’re roundhouse-kicking monsters off motorcycles. Each campaign has moments of brilliance—Leon’s opening hours are especially atmospheric—but they often stretch too long and repeat ideas.
Combat is fluid, responsive, and packed with mechanics—dodge rolls, melee counters, and even sliding while shooting. But the game often overloads the player with too many enemies and too many options, stripping tension from encounters. Inventory management and resource scarcity are minimized, a far cry from the series’ roots in survival horror.
Quick-time events (QTEs) are frequent and intrusive. Whether you're wrestling zombies or escaping collapsing buildings, the game too often takes control away from the player for the sake of cinematic flair.
There’s no shortage of spectacle in RE6’s story. Global bio-terrorism, city-wide outbreaks, shadowy conspiracies, and returning characters abound. But emotional investment is harder to come by. The narrative is convoluted, jumping between timelines and perspectives, and padded with B-movie melodrama.
Still, there are some highlights. The chemistry between Leon and Helena has its moments, and Jake—Wesker’s son—brings fresh blood (literally and figuratively) to the franchise. But overall, the plot tries too hard to be a globe-trotting epic, losing the intimate fear that defined earlier games.
Visually, Resident Evil 6 impresses with highly detailed environments, expressive character models, and bombastic effects. The lighting and cinematography can be genuinely cinematic at times. Voice acting and sound design are also solid, even when the dialogue veers into camp.
However, the HUD is cluttered, and the constant on-screen prompts can feel overwhelming. There's a lack of restraint across the board.
Resident Evil 6 is a game torn between its survival horror legacy and action blockbuster ambitions. In trying to satisfy all audiences, it ends up satisfying few. There’s fun to be had—especially in co-op—and the sheer scope of the experience is impressive. But as a cohesive Resident Evil title, it loses its identity amid the chaos.
This isn’t a bad game—but it is a confused one. And for many long-time fans, RE6 represents the moment the series lost its way... at least until Resident Evil 7 brought it back.
A massive, messy game that delivers thrills but forgets what made Resident Evil special in the first place.
Pros:
-Four varied campaigns offer value and replayability
-Slick production values and impressive visuals
-Fun, dynamic combat with lots of mechanics
-Co-op is a highlight (especially locally)
Cons:
-Bloated and uneven pacing
-Over-reliance on QTEs and set pieces
-Story is convoluted and tonally inconsistent
-Horror elements take a backseat to action
Rating: 7/10

⭐️⭐️⭐☆☆ (A massive, chaotic spectacle — that runs out of steam fast)
Resident Evil 6 is the definition of quantity over quality. There’s no denying this game is packed to the brim with content — four full-length campaigns, tons of characters, skill systems, action set pieces — but after a while, it all starts to blur together. And worse, it just stops being fun.
On paper, it sounds great:
Leon’s got zombies and moody hallways.
Chris has guns and explosions every five seconds.
Jake’s punching monsters in the face.
Ada’s sneaking around with a crossbow.
Sounds like variety, right?
In practice, though, most of the gameplay boils down to endless shooting galleries, constant QTEs, and bloated set pieces that forget why people love Resident Evil in the first place. The pacing drags. The tone flips between serious bioterror drama and full-on action movie nonsense. And the horror? It’s almost nonexistent.
Mechanically, there’s a lot going on — dodges, rolls, counters, melee takedowns, cover systems — but it ends up feeling more chaotic than tactical. The gunplay is decent, but the enemy design rarely makes you think or adapt. After your 30th room of generic enemies charging at you while the game screams “PRESS X TO NOT DIE,” it starts to feel like a chore.
Even co-op, which was the saving grace of RE5, can’t carry the whole experience here. It's definitely better with a friend — you can laugh at the ridiculousness and carry each other through the slog — but that doesn't fix the fact that most of the campaigns overstay their welcome by several hours. It just keeps going, and going, and going — with diminishing returns.
There are some fun moments. Some boss fights are cool. Some environments look great. The production value is high. But overall, RE6 feels like it’s trying to be five games at once and ends up doing none of them particularly well.
It’s big. It’s loud. It’s technically impressive. But once the novelty wears off, you’re left with a game that’s more exhausting than exciting.

This is one of those games where I really wish Steam had a 'neutral' option, but they don't, so on balance I'm going to go with not recommended.
RE6 isn't an awful game, but I always find it deeply frustrating to play. At least in my experience the gun play is 'iffy', shots properly lined up in cross hairs often fail to connect even when the target is mere feet away. Inconsequential perhaps with the pistol, very frustrating when you waste magnum round after magnum round because the game randomly decides when in the crosshairs counts and when it doesn't.
There is no way I've been able to find to dodge sniper enemies, and it is often very difficult to find where they are actually shooting at you from, so get ready for the 'get sniped, get knocked down, get back up, try to quickly look around the map/move out of the snipers line of site only to get sniped again, and repeat. This is similar for enemies with rocket launchers, but those tend to be easier to find and pick off.
The quick time events are I guess very much of their time, but very unforgiving. At least RE5 gave you a setting to skip these. RE6 doesn't, or not that I've been able to find. There is one particularly egregious section with a snow mobile. I actually lost count of how many attempts it took me to get through this, but when I did it wasn't due to skill or reflexes, simply that each death told me which way I needed to direct the snow mobile to not die next time.
Unfortunately every campaign has these to differing degrees of annoyance!
The checkpoint system is unclear. You'll get a message saying checkpoint reached, quit the game to take a break and come back later only to find that you've lost a load of progress. I only realised later that checkpoints and save points are not the same thing, but this was never properly explained by the game.
If you can get this cheap when on sale and you are up for some split screen co-op with a friend as I said It's not awful, but be prepared to be frustrated by the game, especially as even in raid mode it is one of those 'if your partner dies you lose' style games. Grab it on sale, otherwise give it a miss.

The Leon campaign is ok. Just ok. The rest is trash. One good thing did come out of this one, and we can all appreciate that. This games failure caused the phenomenal rebirth of the series in RE7. Go play that instead.

Hey its your boy Dilster here and I would give this game a 7/10. Now this game is defineitly not my favourite RE
but that don't matter cuz I would rather replay this then replay RE7 now I get RE7 revived the Franchise and stuff but I would rather replay this game over 7 like I just don't see a point for me ever returning to 7 nothing makes me want to, but I could see myself playing 6 again in the future. Anyway heres the review of the Campaigns Chris is in dead last I actually got annoyed half way through his campaign and it stayed like that for the rest of his campaign like god damn did the ammo feel stingy always running out having to run past enemies or Knifing them. I got a bit bored overall playing his campaign, I mean I had to pretty much Knife a the final boss fight since I had no ammo left since it felt so stingy. Next is Adas its just okay I mean its the shortest one but it was more fun than Chris's, The ammo didn't feel as stingy always had ammo which you may say RE is survival horror but this game is action with a bit of horror but even the horror that is in this isn't slightly scary anyway. I loved staring at adas butt whenever she crawled through a vent. I mean thats really it. 2nd place is Leon most people would put this at 1 but no I'm cooler, Leon's Campaign attempts to have horror but It isn't really scary at all the ammo feels perfect you know where I've got a steady amount at all times but I can get a bit low making me a bit more resourceful, the areas are mostly interesting I don't really like city at the end since all the campaigns kinda end in the city which makes sense but the city just doesn't look super interesting, also we see more Ada so thats a plus. Now for first place drum rolls please....1st place goes to Jake's Campaign honestly I wish jake got his own game cuz it would be so much fun but that isn't gonna happen due to re6 failing. It is very action similar to chris's campaign but in jakes campaign I'm not having to knife boss fights to survive, the ammo is everywhere and he may say a lot of corny one-liners which I feel like all his dialogue is just quips and corny lines but I love it. Since he is Weskers son aswell that makes him even more interesting. I kinda wish this game revolved around Jake cuz it honestly makes the most sense to me since they need his blood to get a cure for the virus. Also the last boss fight is wacky and over the top which Jake fist fights some big Nemesis/Mr X Ripoff its just insane. I will say though all the endings feel kinda abrupt like it ends then I have to sit through like almost ten mins of credits to see the post credit scene which makes the ending to these characters better but still kinda poo and since I know that these endings wont lead anyway due Re6 not being the best Re in the world it makes me a bit sad but I will live on anyway good bye I am ranting too long now

A total disaster.
Yes, there are some salvageable moments.
Yes, sometimes, you can have fun with it.
Just like you can have fun sticking a fork into a wired toaster. For a while.
The only thing impressive about RE 6 is how it tries so hard to do everything at once, and fails at everything equally.
It tries to be a globe-spanning melodramatic epic about biohazard.
It tries to be an emotional story about vengeance.
It tries to be an adrenaline-pumping action film.
It tries to be Resident Evil.
It tries to NOT be Resident Evil.
Every moment of this game is agony.
Every design choice is baffling.
Every story point is cliched and predictable.
Every combat scene is jaw-clenchingly boring, frustrating, or infuriating, usually for all the wrong reasons.
For a third-person action game, you spend more time looking at cutscenes, or the game is forcing you to look at something, at the next big explosion or the last big monster that walks into scene. You don't have volition. You are a spectator, even if you are in the middle of the fight, you are supposed to sit down and enjoy the show. You aren't part of the action, the action is what is going on in spite and despite of your participation.
At least, the online coop means that you can have a friend to suffer through the incredibly lackluster moments of this game together, but it derives the same amusement you would have watching The Room.
Perhaps the greatest miracle is that RE7 turned the saga around and back on track after the defilement that was this class B Bollywood mistake.
That and Leon's ass, of course.

I think the hate for RE6 is out of control. Yeah I know Resident Evil is traditionally horror survival, but not every zombie/monster based survival game needs to be horror and survival. Just look at the CoD zombies mode, Dead Space, Day-Z. They all did a good mix of action and survival, and I think RE6 did a good job of that too.

I tried to give this game a shot, but it's just bad. Awful dialogue, the gameplay keeps stopping and starting. It's slow and boring. And even for 2013, the game just looks ugly. I just wanted to stop playing, it's not fun.

Worst game I’ve ever played. What the fuck was that? Four snoozefest campaigns.
Worst characters ever. Piers Nivans has the most annoying voice of all time, I got PTSD from him screaming "Captain" every five seconds. I fucking hate this game.
It’s just a combination of quick time events and a walking simulator, you just want to walk through everything rather than fight the mobs.
Capcom really thought they were cooking by mixing Uncharted, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Batman, and Street Fighter.

Highly recommended from me!
Overall, the story is really interesting. Some people say the multiple storylines are confusing, but I don't think so. For me, it's actually unique and makes the game even more exciting.
The gameplay and graphics are already great, but what I like the most is the gameplay mechanics. Yeah, even though in this series it leans more towards action and the horror vibe isn't as strong.
But overall, it's a solid game!

IDK why this game gets so much hate. Sure its not scary, like at all, and the action is so over the top and the plot is a mess, but I genuinely had a blast playing this game. I also am a fan of crazy over the top action movies so this was right up my alley. My favorite thing was suplexing zombies as Leon and going blow for blow as Jake with the nemesis rip off. Also, I adored Sherry and Jakes campaign. Despite the game lacking serious amounts of horror to feel like a resident evil game, it is a really fun game and its worth playing. Don't listen to the haters.

This game has very harsh quick-time events that keep stopping you dead on your tracks, hurting it's pacing. Pacing that it cannot afford to hurt especially since it's such a long game with no manual saves. I recommend playing with Auto Action Button enabled if this also bothers you.
There are some cool scenes and the movement system is actually pretty good, even though the inventory, map design, story and.. honestly, just about everything else is frustrating.
I find it too harsh to not recommend this game, just be aware that it's hardly a polished experience.

Absolute Cinema. This is peak Resident Evil. Good story, all the characters you know and love, a sound argument for the villain, cheesy writing, great visuals for its time. Load this game up with a friend, pick any campaign and if you just turn you brain off and not focus on how this is more of a action game than a survival horror like the others, you will have the best eight hours of your life!

In my opinion its more of an action type of game, there's horror elements to it but by no means is it scary. Overall it's still fun, I find the gun play to be good along with the movement but it definitely takes a bit to get used to wit the new controls(movement only). There's interactive cut scenes and a lot of them, sometimes its overwhelming but it tells a good story nonetheless wit good lore. I'd recommend if you just enjoy Resident Evil for the lore and the characters but if ur playing for horror and more game play I'd stick to the main one's ppl praise.

I really love the fact that they even explore this type of genre for the RE games. Watching all the RE movies from the animated ones to the live action, it was always fast-paced and action-packed. This might as well be their exploration phase, trying out a different path unlike the previous ones.

Running this with my buddy on co-op. I've played it before with a different friend and find it enjoyable. While it isn't the best RE game, I really feel like it does get too much hate. There is a lot of content in this one, fun bits, a ton of action.... Just really fun in co-op. It also has my personal favorite Mercenaries to date.

In short, buy it. This game is flawed and is not a "good Resident Evil" and yet it somehow manages to be something, that many AAA titles fail to be nowadays - fun. Yeah some of the levels are infuriating, but Dark Souls 1 is 40 percent of shitty levels, and I with many other people love that game, yeah QTE is kinda dumb and unnecessary, story is over the top but...the gameplay is the best up untill RE4 Remake, it's fun, engaging, rewarding, story while dumb and barely makes sense, does the only thing it was meant to do...justify you having fun.
As I've said...the game is flawed, but it's only "real" issue and sin is that it is a 6th entry in RE franchise, which means that multiple games before it layed the foundation to the it, and RE 6 didn't exactly stick the landing. Nevertheless, if you want to have fun, especially in coop, buy the game, play it with friends online or in split screen, or just allow randoms to join, the game is very much alive and I am having a freaking blast playing it. Very subjective 8.3/10

Absolutely amazing game with a continuing great lore, weapons and enemy variety. You get to play some old and new characters in this one and there are 5 campaigns that all congregate to tell 1 overall story, which is probably my biggest criticism of the game, but consider it can't be changed and it was done, it was done decently well. This is usually the most hated RE of the series and i have to say it doesn't deserve that at all.
I was slightly peeved in the beginning regarding the skill point system, assuming you would need multiple playthroughs to max out a single build, but i was wrong. If you only plan on playing once, i recommended defense, the gun damage and increased drop chance from killed enemies.
Thanks for a great time!

If the Resident Evil franchise is a horror survival genre, this game is the action version of it.
It took a while to get used to the controls, but when you do its a good game, lots of action and for a change you can happily gun zombies and infected enemies down by the dozen. There are a lot of characters in this and the story is good how it ties these characters together and meet each other from time to time.
All in all this is entertainment, familiar characters in new situations but enjoyable overall

Even detached from the resident evil franchise this is just an awful game you literally just walk down hallways shooting. The zombies have wildly inconsistent health. The reticent just goes wherever it wants. The melee combat is so unreliable you get killed by enemies who you punch and fly 5 feet away from you. There is no reason to waste healing items because they only give you like 10 of them but you full heal if you die and respawn. NPCs you encounter and talk to in cutscenes just thanos snap out of existence when their part in the story is done.
like was this game made over a weekend? this legit feels like a $5 itch.io game
