The lore expansion of the Amnesia universe was never that big before, and it's awesome! The only big problem with the game is the main character's storytelling lacks uniqueness, even the Mandus from the Machine for Pigs, would have a much interesting arc. The "amnesia" here got her so deep that it brought to the day she was born therefore you only start to imagine the story after 2/3 of the game. Nonetheless, for some case developers decided to add a few ground breaking voice lines about the story and the lore itself while Tasi listens to her baby, the thing is it can only be heard only once and can be missed... Keeping things short, the story is poorly designed, but the lore is well written. The details and environmental storytelling are great, take a look at the fortress location, or even the other world itself, they are all great at it! But a game design after the mid game can be misleading. About monsters, a simple run-chase become a big cliche among all of the new horror games, so they did manage to make an interesting yet extremely violent (lore wise) guard monsters in the other world, with unique mechanics of avoiding detection like hiding in the water. Nevertheless, I always liked the monster approach Frictional Games are giving to us, even if that's going to be as a simple ghoul. The focus of the game was more into the universe, rather than a story and horror elements, which most gamers would prefer the other two instead. And still, it was a great experience for me that I wish others would try it as well.

The gameplay is like trying to walk past a person who is painfully slow but you can't get past them.

Great horror game with an atmosphere and story heavily inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft. Definitely a worthy successor to the original Amnesia, with heavier focus on the story. I get the feeling that the theme (especially the main character's condition) may not be for everyone, but I found it original and interesting.

Yes, I recommend this game. Contains spoilers! The first time I played this I wasn't particularly thrilled about the main characters pregnancy at first and even stopped playing after one certain tripping scene where the pregnancy is revealed. But then I picked it up again, and played it from the start. I wanted to give it a new chance since I love Frictional. I'm glad I did. After getting to the fort this game felt a lot different and although I must say it peaked in the fort and the structures beneath it, those sequences carried the rest of the game, too. Many people don't think the main monsters "ghouls" are scary but I disagree. Their music is so creepy and unsettling, and their movements just icky. The wraiths on the other hand, are not. The otherworld where we also play in is not scary and has some soma-ish vibes, but is interesting still. I like the story and that this game deepens the original Amnesia lore massively. It's visually pleasing and thew sounds and musics are top tier (as in all Frictional's games, ofc). There are some things that I don't particularly enjoy, but they don't really bother me anymore - except maybe the game's habit of railroading the player from one section to another.

worse for wear story-wise, rebirth does have an ameliorated atmosphere compared to its origin entry. from more technical puzzle-solving with futuristic tools, to better tailored story-based settings for the emotional effect of the varied memory recall sections within the game. also significantly better with in-game configuration; no local file editing necessary.

Seven years after A Machine For Pigs, Amnesia: Rebirth finally released as the next entry in the series. At release, there was a very annoying mechanic: once your sanity was low enough, a jumpscare would flash on your screen. Im very thankful that this was mostly removed, since if it still existed Im not sure I would have ever finished this game. Rebirth started with a very big error that was fixed, so is the rest of the game any good? No. Lets see why. It looks like they listened to the criticism the last game received, they added back the removed features like the inventory, sanity and most importantly: the light sources. You have two sources of light, the lantern and matches, both of which are extremely annoying since they run out very fast for no reason. Now, lets talk about the story: it sucks. The game tries to make you care about the characters, but that simply does not work because there are way too many of them. At the start of the game you get so much information from flashbacks, notes and Tasi talking to herself that you simply cant process all of it. Another thing about the story is how it doesn't really make any sense: how does Tasi even have amnesia at the start of the game? Its never explained. After about an hour of gameplay, we find that the only character we interacted with before the plane crash and the only character we might have cared about, Salim, is dead. The fact that we can read some tablets we find in the alien world makes no sense, why would they translate to English? Another thing that doesn't make sense about the alien world is how there are matches and oil canisters here... Did the aliens really need these? Why does this advanced alien civilization have wall torches that can be lit up with matches? This alien world doesnt make sense at all in the context of the previous games. I hate how this game disrespects the originals story: In The Dark Descent, Alexander wants to return here, and in the ending in which he does, he claims the world he sees is "beautiful", and in this game we can see that the world is ruined and abandoned. "Well, maybe the world Alexander saw was beautiful at the time, and in this game, 100 years later, it was ruined", well that would work if Herberts notes didnt directly state that the world was ruined by the time he got there. You can find a note in which Herbert states that he sent Daniel and the orb back to Brennenburg, a direct contradiction to what actually happened in The Dark Descent. Lets talk about the characters: Tasi is the only character that really matters, and that wouldn't really be an issue if she wasnt annoying. She keeps talking to herself for no reason, Daniel was a way better character and he rarely spoke. In one extremely bad case, she actually screams "Run, run!" when she sees an enemy, like shes telling the player to run. Shes also very selfish, she doesnt give up the baby that was gonna die anyway in order to save her friends, and she can also just kill an innocent person in order to save her baby. The other characters basically dont exist: theres the doctor that tries to give the alien empress the baby, but he suddenly forgets how the ghouls work and instead of incapacitating Tasi he just leaves her and thinks she wont follow him. Theres also Leon, who becomes a ghoul. The rest of the characters are boring and forgettable. The travellers amulet is also not perfect, you can open a bunch of random holes in the walls that lead nowhere in some parts of the game. Another problem is that the game just isnt really that scary after a while, the monster designs are worse than the original. I experienced some bugs, one time I walked through a wall and fell off the map. The puzzles are fine, some are very confusing though. It is the longest game in the Amnesia series, and it doesnt really have anything to show for it. The atmosphere is okay, and the graphics are actually pretty good. The music is also good. The achievements are pretty hard to get, you would need to play the game a few times to get them all. The game has three different endings, so thats cool, but none of them are really satisfying. This game was a major disappointment, its very expensive and I recommend that if you buy it, do so when its on sale.

Harika bir ambiyansı var. Hikayesi de gayet ilgi çekici ve Amnesia: The Dark Descent'a da bazı atıflar var. "Jumpscare" tipi korkutmadan ziyade daha çok gererek korkutuyor, tavsiye ederim.
