"I used to walk into a store and find a game. Now, I walk into a game and find a store." I loved this game. I was a huge fan when it initially released. You literally couldn't pay me to say anything negative about this game. Why? Because it felt like the devs were really working to return halo to its roots. I don't need to get into all of the small details that gained my favor. I already know the community en-mass agrees. However, the progression of micro-transactions has completely overshadowed any good this game brought to the franchise. The last straw- the Halo 3 gear recently added. I WAS SO UNBELIEVABLE EXCITED to unlock this gear. Halo 3 is my favorite game of all time and I couldn't wait to ride that nostalgia high. Just try to imagine my disappointment when I redownloaded and logged in. To my shock, every single piece of gear was locked behind a massive paywall. I will NOT spend 10 dollars for a piece of armor from 20 years ago. This wasn't done for one cosmetic. EVERY SINGLE ONE is locked behind a paywall. The worst part is the empty season pass, full of nothing but one armor set. This new content could have been the thing that brought me back to Halo Infinite. I was hyped. I would have grinded out that pass to unlock all the cosmetics from my childhood, and the absolutely most unforgivable thing is that I would have paid money for any additional cosmetics or augmentations to this classic armor from Halo 3. 343 - Halo Industries, whatever you have decided to brand yourself as now, you've ruined the halo experience for a lot of long time fans, and you should be ashamed. If you loved halo, don't waste your time with this game, as a community we must take a stand on these horridly anti-consumer practices. Plug in your old 360/One, boot up the old games, invite friends over, order pizza, play the game it was meant to be played. Don't give this company your money or time anymore.

There is a black box in the middle of the sign in screen that i cannot get past. There seems to be no clear instructions on how to fix this even though it apparently is a common problem.

after four years the game's in a pretty good spot. most missing modes are back, and plenty of forge maps are pulling weight for multiplayer. a lot of folks are quick to blame 343/halo studios for this shit happening in the first place, but to be honest that's a "microsoft being money hoarding dickweeds" issue. from cycling out employees every year and a half, to rushing the game out the door before it's ready, they're at the root cause of the game's issues and the devs just had to deal with it. and despite all that, they made a pretty good game. play it, lower your look and move deadzones if youre on controller, and have a good time.

Let’s get this out of the way: this isn’t the worst Halo game, but it might be the most frustrating. Not because it’s broken—because it constantly almost works. There are flashes of greatness here, but they’re buried under layers of design that range from mediocre to outright incompetent. The campaign tries to go open-world, but adds nothing meaningful in the process. Capturing FOBs, destroying outposts, rescuing squads—it all feels like filler. There’s no clever combat arenas like in classic Halo, no memorable setpieces. Just a giant map stretched thin with copy-paste objectives. It’s not exploration—it’s busywork. Combat itself is solid enough at first. The grappleshot is easily the best addition. It adds much-needed mobility and verticality, even if the cooldown is just long enough to kill your momentum. With better tuning, it could’ve carried the whole system. Instead, it ends up as a gimmick with training wheels. As the campaign progresses, the cracks get wider. Fights near the end stop being fun and just start dragging. 343’s idea of challenge is to throw waves of bullet sponge enemies at you with no breathing room. Sure, it’s “hard”—but not in a satisfying, tactical way. It’s exhausting. Combine that with endlessly reused corridors, shooting the same four flying drones in the same way over and over, and it becomes less like Halo and more like a chore. The story doesn’t help. The writing feels aimed at a younger audience, but it can’t decide if it wants to be sincere or quirky. The new Cortana stand-in constantly chirps nonsense, the antagonist is dull, and Chief feels like a silent bystander most of the time. Multiplayer? Functional. Guns feel fine, but the map design is forgettable. And the battle pass system hanging over it all like a reminder that yes, even Halo now lives in the F2P economy. It lacks the soul and polish of earlier entries. And that’s the real issue here: there are good parts, buried under design decisions that range from outdated to downright infuriating. It’s like someone handed 343 a golden formula, and they responded by adding noise, bloat, and a checklist. In the end, this is a game that doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s not a total failure. But it’s not the Halo fans deserved either. If Microsoft ever wants this franchise to matter again, they might need to give it to someone who actually understands why it mattered in the first place.

The Campaign was so awful, boring, buggy, unpolished and genuinely unfun; it made me retroactively like the Halo franchise as a whole less. It takes real talent to despoil such a legacy, ..so my hats off to you I guess. 1/10

Halo Studios are allowing fans to keep the game alive while they collect profits, too many broken promises, and poor management. Do not play this game.

The definition of "Not with a bang but with a whimper". Edit: Swaying heavily towards bad. I wanted to confirm my impressions by playing a bit of the campaign again. On my Intel GPU, an A 770. The GPU I had when I beat and LASO'd the game. It's unsupported now! I can't even launch the game anymore. This review is neutral to bad, based on the story aspect of the game with no focus or interest in the multiplayer aspect of the game. Mechanically the game's alright. Solid, snappy mechanics, gorgeous audio and decent feedback. I'd call it good if this were a futuristic reboot for the Just Cause franchise, because the gameplay loop of Halo Infinite's Campaign is essentially what Rico Rodriguez is known for doing; grappling hook included. Storywise? I don't understand what straws they were grasping at. Even taking the expanded lore of the books and the other story trainwrecks of Halo 4 and whatever the point of 5 even tried to be, this game takes an even less historically Halo approach to storycrafting and honoring established lore. All for the sake of making this a more immersive movie experience is my guess. The story loosely follows an abridged version of the Hero's Journey. Mr. Chief is gently called to adventure by being pulled out of a cool space bath he was forced into by a guy with
literal plot armor
.
Yes that is somehow a spoiler.
Once informed about the doom of everything by his saviour, Maestro Chef cooks up the plan to boldly go where no man lacking surgical enhancements and power-armor would go: somewhere someone else hid a McGuffin that will serve as a deus ex machina. Far Cry gameplay ensues. Then maybe some missions with lore. Make sure you find lore drops to read them in the menu! Or have audio logs yap at you as you wonder if the clap of your enhanced buttcheeks is loud enough to alert the guards. Judging by the plasma fire overhead, yes. Free bases, unlock special gear, weapons, other stuff, fast travel and look at the pretty cutscenes. Then wonder which of the ancient super-intelligences it was that hid around human Spartan figurines. But don't dwell on that too long, there's a map marker you have to chase down for the next non-open world location to open up for you. And eventually it ends. Even on LASO, it ends. There is no perceptible pay off or anything. 343 tries to end on a note screaming "just you wait for what'll happen next". It comes across as nothing but gloating about held back content. TL;DR: The story feels like a mean-spirited fan fiction, forced out to keep the franchise going. Mechanics are what you expect from a high caliber studio. Multiplayer exists.

Returned to this game to play with a friend this week, the same issues we ran into when we first played it are still there. How long has this game been out? Upgrade interface broken, grappling hook won't let me switch back to it after switching to motion sensor, "compiling shaders" notification stuck at 10%, friend teleported to my location and stuck inside the level instead. Not to mention the credentials delete fix I had to do to sign in in the first place, and disabling my telephony on my headphones so I can hear the game (and thus have to use speakerphone to actually talk with my teammate). While none of this stuff has actually prevented me from playing the game, it just gives the image of a game that was sent out 3/4s finished. It really sours the experience. We're having fun while playing but it just feels like any aspect of it could break from minute to minute. The $20 price tag really makes me consider whether it's a deal or not to pay that much...if you can get the $1 PC game pass deal just go that route, you're going to probably spend some time figuring out how to get it to work in the first place.

It is a glitchy fucking mess. I've been a longterm halo fan, basically forever. I gave this a shot despite the bad reviews because nostalgia or whatever. Ive lost 30 minutes of progress purely because suddenly, no reason, no prompt, I cant save Spartan Griffin. It would be whatever but I did every side objective between that spartan and now, and suddenly, its all reset? No, salty. You dont get to make a shitty open world halo game and then get to reset all the progress, shouldve had all your points saved between now and then, at least after every side objective. Now? Fuck you, I see why everyone said it was a garbage tier game. I tried, and sure ill finish it, but I see exactly what they mean.

Halo has had a very rough couple of years after the transfer of management but after this games release there was a constant pursuit of improvement from the content the games been lacking in it's earlier years. Overtime the game improved immeasurably and through time gamers have lost the patience to play during that road to what the game was striving to achieve. HOWEVER, the state of the game which Halo Infinite is right now is a nothing compared to what it used to be, the devs really clocked in the hours to reach that goal and met all expectations. My personal experience has had it's ups and downs but through every update Halo infinite became the game we all dedicated fans wanted it to be ya it wasn't the best at launch but now with everything this game offers it's really a good game to play the options for what game type you want are there the maps provided even if it was thought the community and made on forge are outstanding with attention to detail even the dev made maps I was amazed, weapon additions and equipment really furthered the game play and the single player had me on the edge of my seat even though we wanted more. So I say to the person/passionate fan who is reading this give this game a second chance if you are hesitant your expectations may be fulfilled halo infinite at it's core game play still has it after so many years and I am going to stick by it. See you on the battlefield Spartan.

Imagine playing Halo: Combat Evolved, but the game ends before you ever meet The Flood. This is the Halo Infinite experience. The game builds up exposition to this mysterious race called "The Endless." But the story ends before you ever encounter them. Decent gameplay though.

While it may not be the best game in the series, Infinite is still pretty good and I would say that it is 343/Halo Studios' best Halo title. Unlike Infinite's two predecessors, Halo 4 and 5, Halo Infinite returns some of the old feel of Bungie-era Halo (i.e. the art style and combat loop). If you're a veteran of Halo, I believe this is a game that you would enjoy.

Dont buy this game. Stop playing it. The absolute worst net code I've ever experienced. It's worse than BF4 was at launch, and this game has been out for a while. Multiplayer is horrible, everyone is a try hard sweat even on casual games and makes the game horrible to play. There's so many different menus that pop up and or you have to go through that you become lost and confused. The worst experience I have ever had playing video games and I've been playing for 20 years.

what is there to say... its Halo... plays better then COD at this point... with less Micro transactions and asking for less money... battle passes are entirely free to earn, or you can pay for them and have access forever... meaning... if you wanted to go back to season 1 and buy the battle pass you can and earn the rewards... or if you play enough... just unlock everything during the duration while its active... UMMMM its like they watched what blizzard was doing and was like... ummm we can do better then this

I have stuck in for halo for so long. but i cannot believe how dead it is now, and honestly the Devs really don't care. they may publicly say otherwise, but actions speak louder then words. the start up for the game is about 2x as long as it needs to be. the multiplayer ques are 3-4x longer then they should be. multiplayer game lists are completely flooded with too many games modes. the Seasons don't even show a little evidence at an attempt for caring for the players trying to keep this poor franchise alive. the art style of all the armors have completely lost their identity. it just feels like the Devs are being leashed to Corporate brain rot that have no idea what Halo is let alone what a massive online game should be. this game lacks all heart now and resembles that of what used to be a cash cow drain and beaten so poorly into the ground that is might as well be the cow patty once laid by the poor thing.

I've loved Halo since Halo 1. Halo 5 was a bust and this is too. The campaign is so lackluster and boring. I just don't care about the side character and there really isn't a story. The saddest part was when they introduced some nostalgic pieces. Just another poignant reminder of how far this franchise has fallen.

YES but only if you don't pay more than $20! I love Halo Infinite, and I HATE it. So much wasted potential. I never finished it. I shut it down during the Sequence "Easter eggs" hunt. I just got bored with it all. PROS: Maybe the best gun-handling and player movement responsiveness of any Halo game. It feels right. The Mongoose isn't as silly "light" as it's been in other Halo titles. That's a "sort of" complement. A lot of the Marine dialogue is really entertaining even if many time it's repeated too often. The throwing and grappling are fun! Wish they would add a kicking option (Entropy Zero 2) CONS: Sheesh, where do I start? LOL... The other side of the gun handling - What are human weapons spitting out? BB's? Dang, talk about NERFED weapons. When I first fired up the game and realized that 343 just refuses to address this issue. Covenant weapons also suck. The weapons also sound muted and many times almost indistinguishable from one another. Sound continued. This game may have the worst sound design over-all from any other Halo title. Graphics are OK, just OK. The problem is that the graphics should have been spectacular. 343 worked on the game long enough. "The weapon" and her "cute" behavior. That sh*t was way over done. Of course, Cortana and her "romance" with the Chief led the way! 343 Industries is female dominated so... The story line. LOL... The TAC map, That could have been made much more streamlined. As great as the weapons handle (despite the weakness and mediocre sound) the map interaction is just the opposite. What a clunker. No passengers on the tank? WTF? That's pathertic. But it's OK because the Marines can apparently jump almost as high as a Spartan!

Better than Halo 5, worse than 4. Mickey mouse halo game. Campaign is a waste of time and nothing really happens, just watch a youtube playthrough and skip through it. Somehow you can't replay the mainline campaign missions and the open world is basically empty other than cookie cutter named brutes/grunts that have a special weapon you get after killing them, basically filler fights to pad runtime. You also get missions to save teams of marines across the map, they don't help for the campaign though. They are not included in the main story, just another extra mission type to pad runtime. Gameplay feels really good though but the firearms don't have that Halo sound. Story also is jumbled. Just like Halo 4 to Halo 5, Halo 5 to Infinites storyline is not continued. It is somewhat but it's done weird. Halo Wars 2 stuff isn't really included, the main enemy from that game is killed off screen, the Infinity is destroyed off screen basically, cortana destroyed off screen. Idk man, if you have gamepass give it a try, it's not a 0/10. Youll have fun playing it but it's nothing stellar. Multiplayer is somewhat fun, just don't go dropping 60 dollars on this

Infinite has really come a long way since it first arrived in 2021. After 4 years, the game is in the state it should have been when first launched with a complete playlist containing social and competitive game types. If you've given up on this game because of how it launched, I'd give it a try now, I think you'll like it.

Halo Infinite is the product of Mismanagement. 343i's dependence on Contractors resulted in probably the most inconsistent live service game possible. Yet I still find myself coming back. Recently, the dev team has been super consistent with their content drops, and I hope they keep up the pace. I love the customization in this game, and hope the devs do more in the future to increase the flexibility of it as they have already. Things on my wishlist are providing additional customization to armor kits, and implementing cross-core wrist and utility attachments. The player customization is in a good spot right now, leagues better than where it was at launch. The game is solid, but I can think of other games that have elements of Halo Infinite does, and executes better. And yet, I find myself coming back. Halo Infinite is the sum of it's parts. A fun arena shooter that effectively modernizes the classic Halo I grew up playing. I recommend this game to anyone that grew up playing classic Halo, or is curious to see what the old-heads are so crazy about. Me personally, Halo Infinite has a firm place in my game rotation.

I enjoyed the campaign , just wish it played more like a story driven game. Never been into open world games; like narrative driven games like the classic halo games, crysis or even Metro. I wish we would go backwards when it comes to game development I miss games that try to be movies (a story driven experience the further you get more of the story and the world unfolds) like MGS 2 from PS one days.
