I can't believe I waited so long to play the Infinite campaign after loving all the other Halos. I don't even understand the online negativity that caused me almost to miss it. It's fantastic! I just finished the campaign and loved the story, characters, and visuals. The combat is also the most intense ever. The enemies feel more intelligent and scary, and we get some cool new tools to deal with them.

Halo Infinite is a great and fun sandbox shooter that is being dragged down by a terrible Live Service module and some absolutely abysmal monetization. Gameplay Infinite's gameplay is the best in the franchise with taking the old Halo formula and bringing it up to modern standards but also made sure that distinct Halo "feeling" is still there. The weapons are fun and are satisfying to use against Banished and enemy Spartans alike. The gadgets are absolute blast to toy around with my personal favorite being the grapple-shot. Vehicles are always a blast to wreak havoc with or just to mess around with friends. This how a modern Halo game should play and 343 (Halo studios now) Knocked it out of the park. Campaign The campaign is alright and is definitely better than whatever 5's campaign was. The open world stuff is kind of meh especially compared with the announcement trailer but the linear levels are good. It does have its moments but its short and unfortunately has to clean up the mess that 5 left behind. The campaign leaves you wanting to see what happens next and unfortunately it's going to be quite the wait since the dlc got cancelled and the next Halo game is probably going to be the CE remake that was teased with the unreal demo. The Monetization and Live Service *cue thunder and lightning* Oh boy we are at that point in the review. The Live Service module that was used for Halo Infinite is one of the biggest reasons why the multiplayer launch was absolutely terrible. Content was being purposely withheld for the purpose of drip-feeding and done to the point that the launch had like 3 playlists and the first battlepass lasted almost an entire year. To give another example the CQB helmet was in the launch trailer and didn't release until the winter update two tears later. Granted now the game has a fair amount of stuff added to it but it still took a while to get there. The second reason is the god-awful monetization has stunted the customization of the game. Custom colors are replaced with armor coatings which are for the most part are just ugly expect for a few like Wet crow, Scorpion Punch, The starter ones, and the ones you get from the campaign. You want some of your favorite armor pieces from past Halo games or something you saw that looked cool? Better pray its not stuck behind a $20 bundle (not sold separately te~he). The best solution would be to make the premium currency earnable or maybe let us trade excess Spartan Points for it but that's just me i guess. Wrap-up Had Halo Infinite gone the way it was supposed to it could've been the greatest Halo game to release in a long time and its shame that it fell victim to poor leadership and rushed development. Its a great game that's being held back by greed and the need to push live service games without proper support and direction. Despite it's issues I still recommend Halo Infinite if you want a fun shooter to play for a couple hours every now and then or even just a sandbox to screw around with friends since it's free to play. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day. Toast out

Was excited to play the game again because of the Halo 3 update- got the 'black rectangle of death' at startup after waiting ten minutes for the god damn game to load. Had to go into my registry and delete a bunch of credentials, FINALLY starts up. Try to join a game with friends, the UI crashes and I get kicked from the lobby, game freezes. Bungie figured this shit out 20+ years ago in 2004 with Halo 2. Joining a game was seamless even with my garbage early 2000s Comcast internet- I have symmetrical gigabit now. How does a multi billion dollar company fuck up so bad that you can't even join a multiplayer game??? I finally got into a match after a HALF HOUR of troubleshooting, and I forgot how much this game is just mediocre. It seems like everything about it has some dumb corporate decision to drive monetization. "Oh we gotta put annoying Dad rock in the menus because it does better with the focus groups than the classic iconic Halo music." It's a little bit better after launch but just feels like a pale imitation of what these games used to be. I've been playing Halo 1 since the Xbox days in 2001. I went to the Halo 2 midnight launch and got the collectors edition. I still have my 'Legendary Helmet' from Halo 3. I placed Onyx in competitive when Infinite first launched because I was so excited- but this game just isn't it. These games used to have a heart and soul, but Infinite is just corporate slop now. It's a shame.

They have ruined halo. i am in awe how is it possible to fuck this all up? Can't even sign in to play the game. When you switch between multiplayer and campaign it relaunches the whole game and nukes your CPU.

I wanted to play Halo CE again, but it felt stale, so I gave up and bought this in stead. It had the right amount of nostalgia, so I enjoyed it for a while. But it's not a good game, the map is boring and repetetive, the graphics are last decade, the HDR is a joke. The multiplayer is like every other multiplayer, indifferent gameplay but with new skins and textures. Pointless. I'm pretty sure they called it Infinite because it's the same 2 hour game multiplied by 10. If you never played Halo, this is not going to to it for you. If you have, play Halo CE again.

I'd give it a mixed rating, I only play for SWAT (Tactical Slayer). The campaign is incredibly mediocre, buy on sale. The armor customization is also pretty decent.

Everything was going fine until recently. I haven't been able to play because the game gets to the main menu and then freezes. I tried submitting a ticket to their support page but their website won't let me log in. I would like to play the campaign again with my siblings, now I can't. I can't even get past the start screen. Can you please fix it? Of which, my first big issue with the game is its multiplayer. I don't how they keep sending updates to it, taking up space on my PC, but then not letting me play any of it until I purchase with real money their stupid multiplayer passes. Stop taking up my PC's storage! Or at least let me play the stupid content you added for free. Especially since I bought the campaign for frikin $60. Seriously, I wish you had just made the campaign it's own frickin product so I don't have to deal all the multiplayer BS you got going on.

When I first started playing Infinite, I thought "This is amazing! How can anyone hate this?" Even now, I think the grapple hook is a fantastic addition. It's one of the most inventive tools the series has ever introduced. It adds verticality, speed, and sandbox creativity that feels natural yet refreshing. I genuinely hope it becomes a series staple. The campaign, too, is pretty good. While it lacks the bombastic set pieces that older Halo titles delivered in spades, what’s there is serviceable and, at times, feels like a worthy evolution of Halo. I also have to give credit to the writers for doing their best to pick up the pieces left by Halo 5, and to the actors who brought a surprising sense of warmth and humanity to the story. But that's where my praise ends. Multiplayer, in my opinion, is a disappointment. It took some time and a full round of achievement hunting to admit it, but I just don’t enjoy it. It’s not just that it’s balanced differently than the campaign, it’s also bloated. There’s an overwhelming number of systems, loadouts, and inputs. Halo used to thrive on simplicity and clarity. Now, it feels like I need a manual just to remember what each button does. Coming off of Halo 5, I thought Infinite would be a refinement. Instead, it feels like a step further into overcomplication. As a result, the battle passes and cosmetics feel less like incentive and more like clutter. The campaign’s structure is another head-scratcher. Replaying missions is a chore, with awkward systems and limited flexibility. There’s little environmental variety, which makes the open-world segments blur together. And bafflingly, there’s no way to restart from checkpoints, a basic feature that’s been a standard in the series for years. And then there's the LOADING. Holy crap, the loading screens. From boot-up to switching to the campaign/multiplayer, to dying in-game... it’s alarming how many times you spend looking at a loading screen. I still don’t know what it’s doing behind the scenes. Precompiling shaders? Streaming assets? But it’s some of the worst loading I’ve experienced from a modern AAA title. The constant interruptions (and occasional crashes *in the middle of loading*) crush the pacing and remind you over and over that the game just isn’t as seamless as it should be. Honestly, they might as well have called it Halo: Infinite Loading Screens. I want to like Halo Infinite more than I do. I see potential in its mechanics and flashes of brilliance in its design. But it feels like a title caught between trying to honor its legacy and chasing modern trends, failing to commit fully to either.

loved the campaign, came back for the battle of the acadamy part 2, thought id check it out why is it a mod? you cant convince me it isnt a cash-grab battle pass, good cosmetics hidden behind paywall riddled mod made official, characters use campaign voicelines, the mode is clearly just reusing capture the flag, maps are poorly designed, even worst then a bad mod map would be, enemy placement or horrific making only 1 way to play the map(s), characters constantly use the same bloody voicelines about the banished capturing something, half the characters use the sentance above character because they dont have unique voicelines. CHARACTERS, USE SENTANCES ABOVE THEIR HEAD BECAUSE THEY DONT, D O N T HAVE THEIR OWN UNIQUE VOICELINES, THIS IS LESS THEN PATHETIC, i feel scammed, even my enjoyment of the campaign cant make me feel scammed, i want my time and my money back, might just deleat the game from my library, ashamed to have this thing on my library

While Infinite had a lot of promise, Microsoft and 343 dropped the ball. Hard. A rough launch combined with limited/missing features, the most robust armor customization system to date being chained behind a heavy-handed focus on microtransactions, and the agonizingly slow development/release of "new" features (like Forge, Firefight, and the upcoming Assault game mode that were basic staples of the franchise included at launch for decades before Infinite) killed whatever momentum the game had. 343 pretty much outsources new maps to the Forge community these days. The only thing the developers themselves seem to be working on for this game anymore are just more paywalled cosmetics. The game's basically just in maintenance mode at this point, presumably until 343/Halo Studios/Microsoft can lift the veil on their next unapologetically disappointing Halo project.
PROS
Guns look and sound great and are distinct from another Grapple Hook feels satisfying to use Multiplayer was a lot of fun when the game was still alive
CONS

Multiplayer
is dead. it's either 5+ minutes of queue time or 150+ ping
Campaign
Unbearable dialogues Barren and monotone open world Many copy-pasted arena layouts in pretty much every main mission level Idiotic design choices all over the place. this shows the game was not playtested. Examples: Halo Infinite has the worst map UI I have seen in any game. the map does not come up instantly. Every time you open the map, it loads in for a few seconds. You can't navigate the map precisely. No compass, so you need to check the map frequently or spam markers Map markers sometimes show as uncompleted or contested even though the activity is completed Due to a bug you often can't switch your equipment slot, forcing you to kill yourself. Spawning guns in FOBs is a chore. you need to click through each and every unlocked gun individually, and every click triggers a small transition animation. Who on earth thought this was a good idea? LASO is a pathetic excuse of a challenge. You can skip 90% of the campaign by dashing past everything while being invisible. For the remaining 10% you simply chip away at mandatory boss encounters and arenas by utilizing the way too generous auto save system.
Co-Op Experience
Co-Op was an afterthought and it shows. Spawning in multiple vehicles takes forever, because you need to wait for the delivery pelican to despawn before spawning in another vehicle. Spawning in multiple vehicles despawns previous vehicles unless they are occupied. like wtf Straying too far from your co-op buddies in this OPEN WORLD is literally punished by death. There is no ping system You can't set multiple map markers
Conclusion
Unless you have masochistic tendencies, don't waste your money on the campaign. I would recommend the multiplayer were it not dead.

DO NOT BUY THE CAMPAIGN IN 2025. IT WILL NOT LET YOU LOG IN AND EVEN GET TO THE MAIN MENU. i have 27 hours in this game pre 2025 and they were mediocre at best. do not spend money on this, steam will not refund the campaign dlc (trust me ive tried) and you cant even play the normal multiplayer. its a empty shell of what halo used to be, and its not worth a second of your time or a cent of your money.

1) All the crazy cosmetics break my immersion of what Halo is supposed to be. 2) Too many of the cosmetics are tied to the in-game store, not to actually playing the game. 3) Some of the cosmetics are tied to FOMO events and are vaulted (un-acquirable). 4) None of the promised story DLC for the campaign has ever been delivered on.

i just had to delete all of my passwords in the credential manager just so the main menu would freak out and just not load, this bug has been in the game for a long time now (since the last time i played a year ago at least lol) do you expect the average consumer to know how to do that? do you think its acceptable to just TELL them to do that instead of getting your devs in gear and actually FIX the issue? Its been a year dude.

The cost for armor just keeps getting more expensive, gone are the days where it meant something to have Hayabusa or other armors, now it just means you used dad's credit card. The fact that the Hayabusa helmet alone costs over $20 was enough for me walk away

It's not Halo, It tries so hard to be Halo but it's not. The CEO of 343 said it himself, he hates Halo and wanted to change it from the ground up to be "more in line with more favorable games". honestly why play this when the MCC is an option? See you guys on Reach.

Honestly as a huge Halo fan i love the franchise. BUt this Game seriously has its highs and lows. The lack of old viehcles from other games. The lack of weapons The campaign is a 7/10. Feels empty but when u get to a giant compound ITS Awesome Also why isn't there a command button for marines? its been close to 25 years. A simple attack, Defend and follow command could make u feel like marines actually matter Multiplayer is where this game really suffer The casual mode from Halo 3 and reach. GONE Its try hard mess The constant lag stutter i get and only get this on this game(I7-14700k,32gb,@080ti then a rx9700xt and) and ive tried everything to fix it. I have to pay for Basically Halo 1,2,3 armors. If you wana customize your spartan play MCC The movement is GREAT!!!!! and gun play is GOOD!! but WTF did they do to the Gravity hammer Needless to say i was excited at first when this game came out and every update has helped it but everytime i come back to it Just for the game to smack me out of playing it AGAIN! ALSO HEY you saw the trailer with the really cool or nostalgic armor. YEAH GIVE ME MONEY!!!!!! Ive come back to this game multiple times through out its life span and unless u just wanna play another competitive shooter give it a whirl They couldn't even add an actually fuel-rod to the game, Or the original shotgun, or Smgs or Plasma rifle or bruteshot....may i need to say more? They just brought back Ricochet snipers and yes we got Hayabusa...... BUT THE GRIND! ALSO fix the performance issues because clearly on PC im not the only one I am complaining not because the game is bad but because previous games did it better!

Halo Infinite marks a stellar comeback for the iconic franchise, blending the classic Halo formula with modern gameplay innovations to deliver a thrilling, expansive shooter experience. From the moment you step into Master Chief’s boots, the game recaptures the magic that made the series a household name while pushing the saga forward in exciting ways. The campaign is a standout, weaving a compelling story of mystery, loyalty, and survival against the backdrop of the fractured Halo ring, Zeta Halo. The narrative balances grand sci-fi spectacle with intimate moments, deepening the bond between Master Chief and the AI companion, “The Weapon.” The open-ended level design encourages exploration and tactical freedom, making each encounter feel fresh and dynamic. Gameplay feels smooth and responsive, retaining the satisfying gunplay Halo is known for while introducing new tools like the versatile Grappleshot, which adds verticality and creativity to combat and traversal. Enemy AI is smart and challenging, keeping battles intense without feeling overwhelming. Multiplayer returns to form with a robust suite of modes, classic maps, and a progression system that rewards skill and persistence. The free-to-play model makes it accessible, and constant updates ensure a lively, evolving community. Visually, Halo Infinite strikes a balance between nostalgia and modernity, with beautiful, sprawling environments and detailed character models that run smoothly even on mid-range hardware. If there’s a minor criticism, it’s that some side missions in the campaign can feel a bit repetitive, but overall, the pace and variety keep things engaging. In summary: Halo Infinite is a brilliant blend of nostalgia and innovation, offering an unforgettable sci-fi shooter experience that honors the legacy of the franchise while boldly looking to the future. Whether you’re a veteran Spartan or a newcomer, this game delivers epic moments at every turn. Rating: 7/10

Watching this game crawl it's way out of an early grave and into a late one has been excruciating. The core gameplay loop is phenomenal and the art team has been knocking it out of the park with the different spartan armor sets. But that's it. 3 "new" guns and one was a slightly different battle rifle, another was a slightly different assault rifle/smg and the last one is pretty sick, but has been released when the game is in it's most dead and unoptimized-on-PC state. I got into this game during the beta and everything ran smooth as butter. Fast forward now and my frame rate fluctuates wildly between 20-70 fps every game, there's terrible frame times even at high fps and it looks terrible compared to newer games that look and run better. Halo Studios can try and hand wave the 343 name into the ether, but the stink is still all over them. I have no hope for the new game given the disastrous way this one was handled, admin shake-up or not. This game has been a painful relationship. No one should bother with it now.

The only mission that felt like a Halo campaign mission was the last one. Campaign is way too short and wholly underwhelming. Literally beat the campaign on Heroic in a handful of hours. I would not recommend spending money on this even to the most hardcore of fans. Just watch a youtube video for the story and be done with it.

Multiplayer in the game is pretty bad, and there was A LOT of missed opportunities. Campaign I thought was actually rather decent. I liked how Halo infinite is open-world, and the story was decent. Wasn't too much of a fan of the new cortana though, thought she was a bit annoying. Overall the campaign is a 8/10, but multiplayer I would rate a 5/10.

This game could be really fun… if it didn’t randomly crash. Sometimes I can play for 2 hours, sometimes it crashes after just 10 minutes—in the middle of campaign. I’ve tried everything (Steam overlay off, Discord overlay off, verified files, etc.). Still happens. My PC is on the lower end of the supported specs, but the game runs fine until it decides to close itself for no reason. I want to like it. I want to finish it. I hope there’s a patch soon, because right now… I can’t recommend it. :(

I played the campaign with my best friend as part of the Halo series play though... but holy fuck is this game almost unplayable with bugs regarding map design and equipment. We couldnt wait to finish this game to say we're done because it was boring and we didnt enjoy it. Cortana's story is a whole therapy session with autism. Slowest content updates ever, loading screen when launching the game takes years (maybe a me problem?) expensive cosmetics (thanks fortnite) campaign was different (not in a bad way) but didn't really feel like halo i guess. MP could have been better if everything was available at launch and content was released at a reasonable pace too many negatives outweigh the positives...hopefully one day 343i (now under the guise of Halo studios) can get their shit together. Id say get Bungie back but they aren't in much better shape
