Like many others I do not recommend this game due to the volume issues. The music is too loud over the voices and it can't be changed. No refund because it's not considered a major defect so you're getting this negative review instead. Fix your game! But I know you won't because I'm writing this nearly 10 years after release. If this issue would annoy you, don't buy this game.

If Tim Burton and the Teletubbies made a game. Oxenfree is a well told narrative with little to no gameplay. The most interesting part of this game has to be the dialogue system, which took me a while to get a hang of. Firstly your dialogue choices are timed so you end up cutting off the other characters, but it ended up feeling like a more natural conversation. The character's are decent and avoid stereotypes of teenagers which was nice. The story itself is interesting especially if you enjoy paranormal type themes. Its a fun game, give it a try.

Short but kind of unique game. Might replay for another run but with different choices.

I had a little trouble with the volume-mixing and the slow pacing of the gameplay but ultimately I stuck it out for the intrigue of the story the game was telling, and I'm glad I did.

The game mechanics are a little rough but overall story was rich, game was spooky but good. Highly recommend!

A unique, eerie coming-of-age story. The dialogue system is smooth and natural, the atmosphere is haunting, and the supernatural mystery pulls you in. Play it with headphones.

oxenfree.. OXENFREE!! this game has raised me. i think it the best video game of all time. it has spooky ghosts with just the right amount of classic teenage angst in an 80s horror movie style. fictional ww2 facts to obsess over? check. a radio to hear "ghostly frequencies"? check. a new step-brother that you hang with for most of the night? check. so, basically... the perfect game. Don't come to Edwards Island. It's not safe.

very 80's retro creepy. I loved the choices and the use of tuning the radio. kinda want to play through again making different choices and looking for all the hidden stuff. I did find the ending to be rather abrupt. The map could have been drawn better as well. But it was a fun game.

This game hold such a special place in my heart, I really felt myself be embodied by alex and played the game while were were similar ages. Its soo much better than the sequel as It feels so genuine and heartfelt. I love it, Ill always love it, those summer nights I first played though this game on my Xbox are so special to me and are held in the highest regards for fiction self to me so with my whole heart genuinely thank you Night School Studio devs, if any of you see this, for making some of the most emotionally connected art ive ever experienced

Alex loves rock climbing so much that she would prefer to spend most of the game going up and down on the same patch of stone.

* horrible pacing issues with dialog, characters constantly interrupt each other. dialogue options disappear too fast. * sound settings are nonexistent, music is too loud. * really dumb pathfinding. easy to get stuck while climbing walls, especially when using mouse-only control. story is great, graphics are great, music is great, so I don't really understand why they had to screw it up like that.
Oxenfree – 100% Completion Review
All achievements earned, every collectible found, all endings unlocked, full dialogue paths explored Oxenfree is a supernatural coming-of-age story that blends naturalistic dialogue with unnerving atmosphere and narrative time loops. Completing everything deepens the sense that you are not just shaping events, but echoing through them. You play as Alex, a teenager on a remote island with friends, trying to enjoy a night out before everything goes sideways. A strange radio signal opens something beneath the surface, and time itself fractures. Conversations rewind, memories stutter, and the line between choice and fate begins to blur. Dialogue is the core mechanic, and it works brilliantly. Choices are made in real time, without pausing the flow of conversation. People interrupt. Emotions carry over. Completing all endings and paths reveals just how reactive the game can be, and how each tone shift or moment of silence creates new meaning. The story is unsettling without resorting to jump scares. Audio logs, spectral events, and visual glitches sell the horror. The mystery unfolds slowly, with clues hidden in both environment and repeated playthroughs. Unlocking the true ending and discovering the game’s buried layers is where the experience clicks. Visually, it is simple but evocative. The painted backdrops contrast with sharp, minimal UI. The soundtrack pulses beneath everything, giving even quiet scenes a sense of tension. Oxenfree trusts the player to pay attention, and rewards those who do.
