A very good 4X game that uses the same principles as the other titles in the ENDLESS series. At the time it released, I preferred this to Galactic Civilizations III - but all of the space 4x titles have been entirely eclipsed by Stellaris.

I highly recommend this game as it is a gem of strategy. It has a relatively steep learning curve but once you learn the mechanics you'll enjoy it very much!

Gameplay Mechanics: 8/10 Narrative: 5/10 Graphics: 7/10 Sound and Music: 8/10 Replayability: 8/10 Innovation: 7/10 Endless Space: Definitive Edition might not have the flashiest battles or the deepest lore, but as a longtime strategy gamer, I was seriously impressed by how clean and addictive this one still is. Even years after release, it holds up surprisingly well and scratches that 4X space itch in a very satisfying way. Gameplay mechanics are solid and streamlined. Colonizing star systems, balancing planet resources, researching tech, and managing fleet logistics all feel smooth and intuitive. It’s not as layered as Endless Space 2, but for players who like structure without drowning in micro, this hits a sweet spot. Score: 8/10. Narrative is probably the weakest part. Each faction has some cool lore baked in, and you’ll run into a few random galactic events, but there’s no real campaign or evolving story. It's mostly a backdrop to the strategy. Score: 5/10. Graphics are clean and sleek. The galaxy map looks gorgeous, and the ship designs are distinct and stylish. Battles are cinematic rather than tactical, but they look decent even if you're not clicking much during them. Score: 7/10. Sound and music are a big plus. The ambient soundtrack is chill and spacey, adding a lot of atmosphere to your session without getting repetitive. UI and battle sounds are subtle but well done. Score: 8/10. Replayability is great. With different factions offering unique playstyles, randomized galaxies, and a solid variety of strategies, it’s easy to come back again and again. Score: 8/10. Innovation was strong when it dropped. The interface felt slick, the tech system was fresh, and the faction design gave real flavor. While newer games have built on it, Endless Space definitely carved out its place in the genre. Score: 7/10. Overall, Endless Space is a super satisfying 4X game. It's not the most cinematic or story-rich, but it's well-designed and genuinely fun to play—especially if you’re into building galactic empires without being overwhelmed.
