Terrible game. Stay away! It is just a ripoff of Limbo {which is a suberb game!} but this game has NONE of the good points from Limbo. It just looks like Limbo. This game is a total ripoff, it's not fun, you die without warning, you can't go back, the kid is like 3 feet tall but can jump 15 feet into the air, it's not at all cute, fun or entertaining. All Thumbs Down.

I hate to be the first negative post but I shall review none the less. I had high expectations for this game as I like less than well-known games especially ones with a spooky vibe. It is plain to see that this was made in the interest of being similar to the popular and amazing game limbo (one of the reasons I chose to purchase this game). It is a simple and straight forward puzzle platformer with the dark theme and style stolen straight from the aforementioned game. Sadly the game is so simple that it is not interesting. All you do is move forward with no real goal which would be fine if the actually gameplay kept you engaged. All puzzles are too simple and very obvious. I know this game is in early access but most puzzles can be seen being triggered and therefore know everything before it even happens (i.e. moving obstacles). The early stages of this game also reflect in visual and controls where everything appears rather cut up and static instead of fluid. This paired with the fact there is no audio despite the settings menu claiming the music is on makes it rather dull to work through. I really wished to like this game but I do not have any desire to actually attempt to finish this game. As this game is in early access I am more than willing to reconsider my review and welcome any chance to prove me otherwise.

This is a change in pace for me, because I genuinely hate writing this review. I've wondered why the 'Limbo' style games never caught on. Until now. This game is like Death Stranding, except bad. Bad in an irredeemable way. I don't even think it matters what I say, because this game seems to be in eternal 'Early Access.' It's very likely the 2 people working on this game (that's not a joke), gave up on this project as no progress has been made in 3 years. But hey that's what happens when you allow 2 people to run a game company with ADHD. (that's a zinger). This game was made with paint, and runs at 60 frames. Only problem is that at most, any given object has 2 frames. Including our Limbo rip off. Of which, you can't tell if they are looking into the awful repeating background or blinking every second. You know what made Limbo's dark atmosphere great? It blended well, it was quiet, it allowed the curiosity of the player to do the work for it. This game just throws a bunch of random fucking RNG puzzels at you, without the slightest hint of how to complete them. GOOD THING THE GAME HAS A NO LAG JUMP THAT YOU CAN DO ON ANY SURFACE REGUARDLESS OF SLOPE. Does this game need work? Yes, it needs to be blessed, because I gave it to the end, I ACTUALLY PLAYED THIS GAME, and I have nothing but resentment for the 2 ass hats who made this game look like it might be good. SPOILER:
IT'S NOT
Oh also, here's a first, this "music" is great for 1 minute of reveal trailer nonsense, but a single track for an hour, makes me want to rip my ears off, shove them into YOUR ASS, so I can listen to the sweet sweet release that is the SHIT OF THIS GAME. Please, developers, please actually work on this game? Yeah? Got questions on how to improve it? I got tons of suggestions, but this isn't an "Aya's Journey suggestion." It's a review, and as they say in Poland: It's shit.

This game ain´t definitely like Limbo. It´s just a jump game that looks like it. If you wanna run, jump and die thousand times because of the bugs in this game, go for it. The game is not finished and I don´t think they´ll fix something in the future. Don´t buy it.

Looks like a rip off of Limbo but doesn't play like Limbo. Very unpolished game. Maybe the devs will prove me wrong but as of now IMO its not worth playing.

A simple game that is mostly enjoyable but there are frustrating things. It took time to get used to moving with the arrow keys. WASD doesn't work, you can't rebind, and your mouse is useless until you die and have to click Continue. That's like asking me to crab-walk backwards. Still worth 2.99. I played it during downtime at work because it's not demanding and auto saves constantly.

This game so want to be LIMBO, but lacks any of the heart and cleverness of that particular gem. It has annoying platforming, with sudden meaningless deaths (why does touching a boulder after it has stopped rolling kill me?). I couldn't even work up the enthusiasm to finish it.

Well...I don’t understand why there are so many negative reviews, everyone compares it to some kind of Limbo or something like that, I’ve never played it so I have no idea what it is, so whether it’s a good thing to compare or not no need So, what exactly is about the game? Simple for 30-60 minutes, I'm confused by "To be continued at the end" but that's okay. Complex? No, simple, easy riddles and obstacles, you just need to understand the timings. Something else? Well, it’s a little buggy in terms of control, it doesn’t respond to the ESC, you can only get out with Alt+F4, and nothing else, is it worth the money? I honestly don’t even remember when I bought it, but I think it all depends on what you are waiting for, I would play purely for fun, besides, it is often discounted for less than a dollar

-The game is good and puzzles are not too difficult. -Not much story behind the game. -Screenshots looks creepy and scary, but it's actually not. -There's probably more to come once updates are in. Stay tuned and follow the game! -My only pet peeve is that whenever I die, I have to lift my hands off the keyboard and hold the mouse in order to click continue to respawn. If your a fan of Limbo then you will like this. Few times I had to push an item a little to long to get it in place for the puzzle but not sure yet if that is part of the story or lack of. Can't wait to see what else comes of this title... Pros: Artwork, Atmosphere, similar style as Limbo, price, early access Cons: Repetive Soundtrack, pushing something at a slow pace for what seems a little to long

I think this game is great. Especially if you consider that this game has been made by just 2 people, they did a very good job! I hope this game comes out of early acces soon. In my opinion, for this price the game does not need that much more work. There are some very scary suprises in the game. I am curious to see what they will come with in the future!

Aya's Journey is a "template" flip. The Russian asset flip scammer behind this filled out a basic template in the craptastic Cocos2D (a blight on gaming), changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and put it on Steam as if it was their own game. Aya's Journey is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Limbo (Copyright Playdead/Microsoft Game Studios, 2010). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Playdead/Microsoft Game Studios against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. Putting aside the unethical intellectual bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept for profit, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. Aya's Journey is considerably worse than Limbo. Boogygames Studios have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Case Simulator Weapons and Armors" = Yet Another Case Opener developed by NeraQuam
"Color By Number - Pixel Draw" = Pixel Art: Color By Number developed by Moana Studio
"Food Mahjong" = Mahjong Game Engine developed by SmallBigSquare
"Hidden Object - Food" = Hidden Object Game Template developed by Puppeteer
"Hidden Object - Tools" = Hidden Object Game Template developed by Puppeteer
"Loot Collection: Mahjong" = Mahjong Game Engine developed by SmallBigSquare
"MahJong - Medieval Fantasy" = Mahjong Game Engine developed by SmallBigSquare
"Pixel Art Monster - Color By Number" = Pixel Art: Color By Number developed by Moana Studio
"Rainbow Duck" = Switch The Gravity developed by App Advisory
"Solitaire - Cat Pirate Portrait" = Klondike Solitaire Complete Game Tutorial developed by University of Games
"Weapon and Armor: Mahjong" = Mahjong Game Engine developed by SmallBigSquare
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen, it only runs in a window. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Aya's Journey is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.

I've played like 10 minutes, the rest of the time the game was running on the background because there is no music so I never noticed it's there. So yeah, problem number 1 - there's no music on Linux. Which makes the whole experience more dark than fun. Also, so far it's like some neurotic Super Mario. Jump up and down, die, again, die, again, etc. Moving with the arrows is a bit unnatural after all the games using wasd and also so far it's hard to measure the jump well. As a whole, for now, it looks too hard to me. Of course, after 10 mins I cannot claim I know the game, I'll give it probably another half an hour, but so far it's just not so fun to play it.

I got to the part where you spend 20-30 seconds lugging a box up a hill to do 1 difficult jump. It was instantly extremely tedious and annoying...
