!! THIS IS FOR THIS PC PORT ONLY !!
I love this game a lot and its one of my favorite Suda51 games HOWEVER, this pc port is abysmally bad.
There is a vast number of issues with this port, so many that I think they just copy and pasted the console version of this game onto a pc build with little to no changes and called it a day.
THE GAME DOES'NT WORK AFTER A POINT
I'm not exaggerating when I say that the game in it's default state will not work if you have a good computer. If you have a multi-core CPU, after the 3rd or so missions final boss the game will crash upon the cutscene playing and there's no way around this without going into the games files and editing the code to allow it to use your computers power. I don't even know how something like this is even possible. Which is why I felt this port is a very lazy copy and paste. If you want the file path to fix this yourself I'll leave it here.
-Right click it in your library and click "browse local files"
-From there follow this path. KidGame\Config\KidEngine.ini
-KidEngine should open a note pad and from there look for "[XAudio2.XAudio2Device]"
-You should see some values under that and you need to edit them like this ->
"MaxChannels=64
CommonAudioPoolSize=320
MinCompressedDurationGame=0.3
MinCompressedDurationEditor=500
LowPassFilterResonance=0.9
WorkAroundXDKRegression=FALSE"
Frame rate issues
I don't know why it's not standard for pc games to come with frame rate adjustment options, especially if your game is locked to 30 fps BY DEFAULT. For some this isn't the biggest deal in the world but at least for this game it makes a world of difference visually and gameplay wise with how much can be happening on screen.
Because of this, the only way to adjust your frame rate is opening the games files on your computer and editing a notepad file to adjust the minimum and maximum frame cap. I should not have to write lines of code for the game just to play it in its vanilla state. When it's this easy to tweak I can't see how the team porting this didn't just make this an option in the settings. I guess they wanted us to have some fun homework to do for the game you paid for.
You, yes you, can fix this by going to this path. KidGame\Config\KidEngine.ini
-Find the line "MaxSmoothedFrameRate" and replace the value to whatever frames your heart desires, also upi can tweak the minimum frame rate here.
HOWEVER
Because you are editing the frame rate, some things within the game will behave differently. Namely Mika's revive QTE. It's almost impossible if you don't edit it after changing your frame rate. Follow this path to fix that after changing your fps.
KidGame\Config\DefaultGame.ini
-Look for "mRevive_MassageRecoveryRate" and from here depending on your frame rate you'll need to change it to different values.
--60fps
---Change "mRevive_MassageRecoveryRate" to 2.6
---Change "mRevive_MassageHealtDownRate" to 0.98
---Change "mRevive_MassageDownPowerMax" to 10.0
--120fps
---Change "mRevive_MassageRecoveryRate" to 5.2
---Change "mRevive_MassageHealtDownRate" to 0.96
---Change "mRevive_MassageDownPowerMax" to 20.0
--144fps
---Change "mRevive_MassageRecoveryRate" to 6.24
---Change "mRevive_MassageHealtDownRate" to 0.94
---Change "mRevive_MassageDownPowerMax" to 24.0
To close, I must repeat, I do love this game a lot. This port is just unacceptable the longer I think about it. After you make these tweaks the game is almost fully enjoyable from there. It will still crash from time to time for no reason. For me it was after my dates with Koharu, after finishing the date it would crash multiple times upon the cutscene. I don't know any way to avoid that other than just doing it over agin until it didn't crash. Still, if you can bear that and edit the game before sinking your teeth into it, it's a damn good time.
