Drag Star!

I literally stayed up til 3 am because I *needed* to find out how the story ended. I loved the writing, the characters, and the challenges. Unlike a lot of these choicescript games, I actually felt like my choices mattered. One readthru: 2 hours Replayvalue: yes

Is it STUNNING? Not quite. Is it a delirious whirlwind of terrible/"terrible" puns, drama*, hilarity, queerness and fun that still beats you-know-which-show nail-gloved-hands down? Yes gawd. Like other games from Choice of Games, it's a little on the short side but makes up for it with plenty of replay value, and it's worth the price of admission for the Catholic-themed drag persona alone. That said, if you've ever dreamed of sumo wrestling in pudding, being zombie Cleopatra or dressing up as an avant-garde toilet... this is the game for you. Theydies and gentlethems, start your engines. EDIT: after some more playtime and some more thought, I can definitely see some patchy bits showing through in terms of acting as a vehicle for promoting the creator's other work, packaging radical queer culture in a box that's less progressive than it thinks it is, and its handling of rape culture - YouKnowWhoPaul's Drag Race still does all of these things even worse though, so this still gets seven-and-a-halfs across the board.

I've never seen Drag Race, so I was a little unsure if I'd get this game, but I have to say, I just loved it. It's funny and feelgood, with just the right amount of drama. The writing has great flow, and sucks you right in. The choices matter, and arent too vague in what stats you base them off. I've liked many games, but this is the first one that made me feel like I had to write a review for it. Two snaps for this game.

OMG this game. This game is hilarious and fun. I did not expect to love it and yet here we are. If you have ever read a Choose Your Own Adventure book, this is Drag Choose Your Own Adventure only better because you get to create your Drag Persona.

An engaging experience that despite the bare-bones presentation manages to create a sense of being part of the game's world. Allows more personalizing of choices than I had anticipated but also it clearly has comparatively darker paths involving sensitive topics that one can go down. The game highlights both the drama and flamboyant flair of drag reality tv but also its calculated scripted nature and absurdity in being part of such an event. Some jokes do not land too well but overall a fun time.

Really silly, and actually very true to form if you watch a lot of Drag Race. Try and investigate the secret drag cult!

This game was so much fun! The competition storyline alone is great fun, but the element of mystery is also exciting. It was like being on an episode of Drag Race but with more diversity in the competitors. I loved that they chose to play with the gender and drag expressions of the competitors rather than making them all queens. If you like Choice of Games I absolutely recommend this one.

I am not into drag-ing but the reality show concept really intrigued me. Bish, I was not disappointed. A lot dramas, fun episodes and intrigue. I just had fun playing this game and especially role-playing as drag queen. This was really fun and worth my time. It is very well written satirically and plain funny. I would recommend to anyone looking to roleplay and having fun. 9/10 Definitely would dress up as pope, burn hair, and cook wig and eat it only to puke it out. And still win the episode. Hei, you be you.

I was always a fan of these types of games, so when I saw a drag one it, it was such a quick yes. Like others have said, the story hooks you right in, and you just want to keep going and going. I can't wait to play this again!!

AMAZING GAME! Probably my favorite one of Choice of Games'. I would 100% recommend, I loved it so much. I would actually sell my soul for a sequel.

The entire reason that people play these games is so that they have a choice about how things play out. There isn't a version of this that I can fit into the role of. Frankly, I'm disappointed to see that such a narrow-minded approach was pulled while ironically being about a "woke" subject. Total trash. 0/10

It's very well-written, funny, and a great treat for fans of the Not-To-Be-Named-For-Copyright-Reasons-Show. In truth, it felt like the better version of Drag Race, without many of the problematic elements that make me somewhat quesy when watching the show. One of the best CYOA on Steam.

Absolutely stunning, Drag Star! is perfect for both newcomers and veterans to the drag scene. The devs captured the drama and truth of drag culture and reality tv with a narrative that you [i]will[/i] want to stay up all night to finish. Drag Star! earns full points on being Smart, Humorous, Artistic, Daring, and Enchanting, and I will keep this among the top of my list of favorite interactive fiction games for life.

I got into Drag Race a few months back and fell in love with the drag universe. Choice of Games make my favourite text based games like the Heroes Rise series or Choice of Robots, so when I saw that this game came out it was a no brainer, I had to buy it. It is again a really well written story that anyone can enjoy, Drag Race fan or not. Choices really do matter in this drama filled reality TV adventure. It's really good, buy it !

A really fun experience, especially if you are a drag race fan. There is going to be a lot of repeat text if you replay it,but I think for this price that is totaly fair.

You don't even have to be into drag to enjoy Drag Star! More than anything, you're role-playing as a contestant in a reality game show. The drag aspect is more for quirk and character which the writing style really sells. Sometimes it made me laugh out loud, other times it gave me anxiety on whether or not I made it through the round. It even has a hint of mystery to it (behold the drag detective). Drag Star! is sassy, fun, and fabulous. If you like reality game shows, give Drag Star! a shot. You might just win.

I got this early on when it came out but I'm replaying it again so review time: I truly love this game. Evan created a world here that allows anyone to be anyone. He gives you the chance to be who you are in both gender and sexual identity. That for me was a great thing. Ontop of that, he wrote a great story with so many twist and heart tugs. Like if you ever wanted to be on Drag Race or Dragula, this is a great chance to have that feeling. Plus even having the chance of doing behind the scene action. I will reply this game over and over to see each ending he wrote for it while I wait for Drag Star: All Stars
