Really fun game that just makes me laugh if I stare at the main character for too long. Zadette is a game that is deliberately made janky (almost everything looks like it's from MSPaint, main character is comically huge), but actually has tight controls and mostly fair level design. It's honestly a very impressive achievement to make a game that is this jank but also good and well-designed. The only frustrating parts were
the final boss, and the secret hidden boss
. If nothing else, worth playing for the ending because it's pretty funny. 10/10 would barbarian again.

This game really is what it claims to be: an 80's masterpiece. Huge awkward character, weird character design, even huger bosses, it's like Altered Beast had a baby with He-Man. As you'd expect with that kind of game, it's freaking hard, but it's good hard. Only a few chosen ones will be able to beat the game. No checkpoints in levels, instant death, pixel perfect jumps, various gameplays, there are many ways to bring your Gamer Anger over 9000, but the satisfaction of getting the end screen has no price. And if that was not enough, the music is awesome.

Zadette may not be appealing at first glance... BUT The core of the game is in its level design: - The mechanics are simple and yet really precise - The difficulty is perfectly scaled - Die and retry mastered: You die to learn and then never die until you see a new challenge - Boss mechanics that remind the old games - You want to swing an extra blade at a boss just to see if you can beat it faster - 2 or 3 timings are REALLY shorts and when passed, you get your dopamine dose BAD: - No RTX support. - No VR support. A really good and refreshing experience!

Just earned my greatest player diploma. The ugly visuals aside, the actual game is really good. It's a very difficult, but fair game. Thankfully the game has unlimited continues and checkpoints in the beginning of each stage/boss fight.

Trial and error. And for some reason I like it. It reminds me a bit of Sword Of Sodan, Rastan and the original Barbarian game. It even has vague hints of Dragon's Lair. It's good to see such games(in that spirit) still being made.

"ZADETTE" seems like a coarse and derpy 2D action-jump-and-slash at first, but behind the hilarious premise (your character is huge, unwieldy and dies in one hit) and the lax but charming spritework lies a fairly competent precision-platformer, that is tough but manageable. Kept grinning and cursing through the whole experience and definetly could recommend it for every fan of the genre that likes it raw!
Secret final boss really packs a punch though
Biggest sprites you will ever see. Loudest music you will ever hear. Deepest lore putting Skyrim to shame. Hardest difficulty, it's the Dark Souls of Dark Souls of Dark Souls of... Zadette is walking straight to the 2021 GOTY award, without ever turning back.

I kinda love this game. The music also makes my ears bleed, but it's the good kind of ear bleeding!

This game may seem terrible at first but once you get the certificate you'll understand it's greatness.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Zadette. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical player's head. There's also Zadette's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Chretien de Troye literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Zadette truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Zadette's existential catchphrase "AHURGH" which itself is a cryptic reference to Froissart's epic fables. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kilirane's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Zadette tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

If Conan and Rastan had a baby they wouldn't be even a tenth of the badass Zadette is! 11/10

This is everything I wished for in a game like Zadette. I'm sure this game was made just for me. The final boss might be a huge pain in the rump, but that is the true test to see if you're a real gamer or not. So, are you a true gamer?
