If you enjoy free-roam sandbox titles with a nice level of technical complexity on the side, then Taxinaut is for you. It manages to hit that sweet spot of Zen map traversal with enough gameplay subsystems to track to keep the player from getting bored. It's a great balance that's both relaxing and engaging, much like the best traversal sims out there such as Euro Truck, etc. Presentation looks simplistic in screenshots but is actually quite charming in motion. Nice variety of biomes from planet to planet. Taxinaut is another fine example of that labor-of-love vibe that feels mostly exclusive to solo devs or small teams of 2 or 3 individuals where you can really feel the singular vision captured on the screen. A pure distillation that isn't drowned out by dozens of design by committee voices common in larger productions. Taxinaut is an absolute steal at the asking price and feels feature-complete for an EA title. A legit gem with a satisfying gameplay loop and a vast galaxy to explore. Big thumbs up.

When I first saw an early video of this, I liked the idea but the visuals didn't click with me. But when I actually played it, it really comes together. The planetary scenery is beautiful, the parallaxing layers of buildings, trees, hills, and smog make vivid and living worlds. After visiting a lot of different worlds with highly regulated orderly cities, to dense slums, to massive temple complexes, to war-torn ruins, I was ultimately relieved to get back to that dump Yamo with the irritating bird-riders. It really feels like a living and breathing galaxy, and I'm looking forward to experiencing more of the story. This is still EA at the time of this review, so sometimes the UI is a little confusing and some features could be improved, but it is getting regular support and updates and I'm excited to watch it grow.

This game is something special is right. So much depth and possibilities but yet so simple. Music in the game is fantastic. Some jerk just hit my cab.... Grrrrr.

This is a fantastic game for a great price, does what it says on the tin. You are a taxi driver taking fares on planet or over the galaxy. So much depth and still in early access, the dev said he is going to keep on developing for years to come, very much a passion project. Love it already!

I used this game as a meditation in hard times, it's very strange and does a lot with little. The portraits are fabulous and so are the various planets/biomes effectively created by combining just a few simple elements. Different planets come with different problems like police, thugs, volcanos... let me not spoil that for you, but I've found the worlds diverse enough to warrant exploration and I'm always looking forward to visiting new worlds. Lots of them are just barren wastelands too, but such is the cold universe. Game is wonky, strange, and certainly unique, I've enjoyed it immensely and I need to find Birdie once more content is added.

What a cool fucking little game. Its filled to the brim with depth and charm. Also, it runs perfect on the steamdeck. The trackpad works perfectly. I cannot fathom how more can be added, but I cant wait to see it.

There is surprising depth and variety in this game. Clearly a labor of love. The taxi theme is very strong, right down to the salty debuffs you get for running into other cars and hurling road-rage insults. If this game had the graphics and flight-sim of Cloudpunk it would be the perfect space-taxi game. In the meantime, this is a better game, even with its basic indie graphics!

Relaxing, charming, enjoyable open world (galaxy) space sim with decent sound and a unique twist on the genre. The quirky humor is a plus, too. If you like the standard fare (no pun intended) such as Space Rangers and also enjoyed older games such as Star Wars Galaxies, this may trigger some nostalgia. Great value. Highly recommended!

About 8 hours in. Enjoying the game so far. Pretty laid back except for a few traffic pattern planets found during one of the first quest lines. Looking forward to the progress on this game. Been a bug here or there (expected since in Early Access) but the developer is active on the Steam boards and works with the community to add request features and fix bugs.

Great indie title with an expansive universe. The Dev is very helpful and you can tell he loves his craft. Definitely worth supporting.
