Black Plague continues the story from Overture. This game is a big step up in immersion and horror imo. This time around I cared enough to read some of the documents, there is some interesting lore. They do more with ambient sound, there is some good music. Idk how I feel about the monsters talking, I'm not sure if they would be scarier if they didn't. I do like their designs, they look pretty creepy. They are however extremely slow, so it makes it way too easy to outrun them. Again like the last game, there are some really good puzzles. They made the right call by removing the combat and the monsters are a lot scarier than the dogs ever were. Voice acting was great and I love how the virus is talking and tricking you with visions. Not sure about the ending it's odd. If you experience mouse issues refer to my Overture review for a fix.

The latter part of Penumbra Black Plague is a very solid horror experience. Knows what its doing pretty well and I think its very very solid. Definetly play both Penumbras if they seem at all interesting

Not as annoyingly sneaky as the previous one. Just run past the enemies (most of the time) Some puzzles were a little obtuse.

Pretty good game overall! Type of game : puzzle horror mystery game that is a bit like an escape room type of game. It's very similar to the 1st game Penumbra: Overture, but a bit more like Outlast, because there is no combat in Black Plague. You run away from your enemies and are not allowed to really fight with weapons. The story is a bit more engaging in this game even though the story was interesting in Overture. I'd say both this game and Overture are of similar quality. Just like in Overture, sometimes, you'll simply get stuck and won't know what to do to make progress. Like I said, there is no combat in this game. It's more about fleeing. I have mixed feelings about this. It can be fun to run away from scary enemies, but it's also annoying because I much prefer the puzzle aspect of the game. Would the game be better without enemies? IDK. It would be much less scary though. I had to use a walkthrough a few times.
