Why does this game need you to register for an account before you can play? And you have to register in VR which is a total pain in the butt.
So after you register you are treated to "0 players online", no single player content is available.
$20 for the frustrating experince of typing your email and passowrd on a VR keyboard.

This game is absolutely terrible. The only positive reviews I've seen are from people who found a match in PVP. The single player campaign "demo" and the AI robots are excruciatingly boring to fight. You advance (by tapping the joystick forward step by step and turn by gripping and dragging) and the enemy will backpedal. Out of the arena and out of your reach. You then have to wait for them to come back and repeat this cycle while they telegraph a single attack in between. Other than exiting the game there's no way to leave this hell mid game.
The campaign demo is one opponent in an office and I'd rather be doing office work then punching him. The hits and impacts don't feel good and the movement is incredibly clunky. You have to tap the joysticks to take a single step forwards or sideways. Then you have to grip with triggers and drag to turn. You can turn the drag turn off but then you're left with no alternative besides turning circles in your space which is inconvenient with wired headsets. "Advanced locomotion" was promised in November 2019.
If you want something arcade-y like Super Punchout with some fun drills check out Knockout League. For a boxing sim with really high quality fighting check out Thrill of the Fight (made by one guy), and for multiplayer boxing that's a mix of arcade and Thrill of the Fight check out Creed (the matchmaking is just as sparse so have friends with VR).
This game is hot trash and the last announcement after a month passing before an update was a tournament. Maybe fix the game first. Oh and remove "remote play together" and "split screen pvp" from the tags. I really wanted to like this game and I don't leave many reviews but this game made me incredibly mad at the promise versus the delivery.

Due to restriction in international flights, i haven't been able to meet with my son for over a year now, this game really connected me with my son in the virtual world for we share the common interest in the ways of combat sport, and this game really allowed us to have fun together while gather a sense of connection even in reality that we are from far apart from each other in the material world.
Would like to post this review here to appreciate the developer behind this fantanstic game, this game is now part of my treasured memory that i share with my son. Good luck to the game, and really wish sucess to the developers behind this wonderful project.

Game is far from dead, devs are working on the game every day and listening to community suggestions, there is a discord where most people ask for fights, heres the link https://discord.gg/SFFXHKsM
In regards to the mechanics and features of the game, you get something that has been attempted by some vr boxing game but never really made in to a fun experience like VFC, in vfc the fights feel very organic where peoples skills from real life martial art come into play, you can do head movement, dance around the ring if you got play space, do counters and parries and lots of real boxing skills, how hard you hit is how hard you hit in game, no creed flappy hands, the community is very willing to help and teach so make sure you join the discord!
Theres also a campaign mode and other singleplayer modes to work on your fitness, each character has an ability that you should learn as it wont hinder your fighting but rather help you, you should take time to learn a characters strengths.
This game is a worthwhile purchase, I have bought several other vr boxing games and this is my favourite, C'mon come join the VFC discord and come fight!

I have boxing background in russian boxing club, also i finished "trill of the fight" knocking out every opponent in first round. But VFC have nothing in common with real fighting. PvP| is as mess. Blocking and hit and damage registering completely broken in PVP. Singlerplayer bugged. In my opinion this game is the worst fighting game for VR . ANd its very hard to find opponent for PVP because usually there is only 1-3 players online. I think if this game is not dead yet it will be soon. Sry for my english.

Step 1: join the VFC Discord channel - this is the best way to find a PVP match join tournaments etc. This is where the game shines brightest for me. Depending on your time zone you won't always find a match very quickly if you use auto match making - so get chatting with the great community.
The recent additions of campaign mode also let's you fight decent AI for warmup or if PVP isnt your thing.
The standard PVP mode fight mechanics are 'anything goes' so you'll need to learn to adapt if your a boxer, (boxing purest mode is to be released soon) Also there are character perks to be aware of in order to perform at your best.
Overall the game is great fun and a good workout, the game is actively tweaked regularly to constantly improve and deliver new features and mechanics.

I was on Thrill Of the Fight Discord and i discovered a discord full of VR fight game fans. They SWORE by this game and sure enough i had to give it a try... WOW, it was a shock to stumble upon ToF, and it was another shock to stumble on this pvp game. I had a blast with the mate who showed me the ropes and sparred with me for 4 rounds. It was magic, the game is much more cinematic than thrill of the fight, you can feel the love and passion here.
The actual fighting make you throw fast combos, aim your strikes, and forces you to be defensive when youre taking hits.
its quite brilliant actually and some of the strikes you can do are incredible for VR
This is equally as good as ToF for being PvP focused!
They both are great in their own ways but this is a comparable game not something to dismiss... get connected and start fighting cool people its easy ill keep playing this game until there is another pvp game that is significant.
I not complaining here final score is: 8.5
I consider the game to be above my expectations but not perfect! Good enough to satisfy and crave more! Boom get busy guys find people lol

Bought this game when the review is mixed, and tried it out.
I have no idea why ppl even give this game a bad review, this game has been AMAZING. if you played and liked thrill of the fight or creed rise to glory, this game is the ultimate version of it.
Fk the haters, dev, please keep doing what you're doing. This game is amazing.

Great Game. I have been watching it develop over the last 9 months and it has come a long way. I will say that if you are finding it hard to find a match, then try using their discord. Once I joined the discord i was then able to start finding matches against people. I have played a lot of various multiplayer games and this one stands out as being one of the best ones. I definitely would recommend it to anyone that was even thinking about purchasing it. Prepare to sweat. ** bonus tip to help avoid sweat going into your eyes, a headband or sweatband will help prevent the sweat from dripping down.

Honestly, this game has a lot of tweaking it needs, but it has a LOT of potential. Adjusting the scanning to how you're punching needs some work, as well as the movement a bit. However, so far, it's pretty good. If they add full body support for additional immersion would be a HUGE plus on this game! OMG, I just realized, if they add full body support, and add colliders to the legs and feet, brooo, MMA??!?!?! 👀

My cousin also plays VR games regularly. Having a fighting buddy, I believe it's the best 20 dollars spent on any games. We don't even need our gym membership anymore. Please keep improving the game like it's being done in the past years.

Virtual Fighting Championship is an "ok" game. Wouldn't call it a boxing game or MMA, it's more like an arcade street fighter thing.
Updates continue to roll out but I cannot recommend it in its current state. Blocking is garbage, damage is unrealistic, and the "powers" are just silly.
Era of Combat and Thrill of the Fight are definitely much better

Can't believe i only know about this game now.
Let's talk about the reason I came to leave a review after merely 1 or 2 games that i have landed since purchasing the game:
To start off, this game offers THE best pvp fighting experience on the market, hands down. That is, if you're one of those people who are excited about totf2 and its PvP announcements, you actually dont have to wait, this game offers it already, as this game is exactly what you should expect a from a proper fighting PvP experience to be. In fact im sceptical if totf2 can even pull off this kind of execution.
Of course you cannot avoid comparing this game with Creed when it come to PvP, and IMO this game obsolutly shatters the competition. its better than creed in every aspect of PvP game-play.
Unlike Creed, this game has none of that artificial stamina bullshit and weird locomotion of rotating your hands. Furthermore, this game offers far more intuitive game-play than creed, as i find myself ACTUALLY fighting rather than just spamming hammer fist like i'am when playing Creed.
Saying that, there are also some drawback. First being its small community. You have to join the discord to consistently find opponent, which i personally find cumbersome. But at least it's a friendly and active community to be in. Secondly, at the mement of writing this, the single player is still very very barebone. Somebody find it interesting but to me it's not on par with it's multiplayer offerings.
Again I have no idea the game that I have always been waiting for is already here for a few years. If pvp fighting game is your kind of jazz then VFC is so far your best bet

This game is a blast, no idea why it took me this long to know this game but as a boxer in real life, this game is a perfect combination with totf, its hard to do sparring due to COVID but this game satisfy that thirst perfectly, i had a blast playing with some of the older community members and they are super friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend those of you who likes to fight to join, i'll be waiting in discord to sparr with you all!

The game feels a bit clunky and not really that exciting when there's better fighting games out there, plus it doesn't save any of my stats or my wins or losses because I haven't created an online account, and the game isn't fun enough to go through that hassle.

so one of the most interesting thing/feeling happened to me while playing this game. my mate asked me to play this game with him as we are irl sparring buddies. usually when we spar we go light, and last week i landed a huge cross to his head alittle too heavy. and when we played this game, i did the exact same thing this time expect going all out, and knocked his character out of the ring lol. surreal fighting experience, very good when you also spar irl and practise some of the moves in VR without causing harm.

This one is the best PVP fighting game that I've tried in VR so far. Punches feel very natural and it hides latency in a very impressive way. Not sure how it managed to maintain a smooth gameplay even for 200ms+ connection! It's not ideal that you have to find a match on the Discord but at least there are plenty of people. According to the road-map, they are going to add elbow attack. I look forward to see it happen!

VFC is very good and it's really nice to have a game NOT repetitively set in a boxing theme. Gameplay feels responsive and accurate, net code is so impossibly smooth even playing with an opponent in a differernt continent. But! Why isn't it released on the Quest? Being wireless is so important for a fighting game like this.

This game is a hidden gem! I went to boxing gyms a few years ago but dropped out because of boring, repetitive training sessions. With this game I’m able to spar with my coach and training partners and it’s such an amazing way to keep being fit and connect with others during this pandemic.

Not a big fan of this game, I was looking forward to playing a VR PVP fighting game, but even with single player and training, this game needs A LOT of work. When playing against a bot, I felt like i was SUPER limited to a small portion of the ring. Having to tap my touch pad to slowly inch my way toward my opponent was aggravating. Not only this but there was literally NO WAY for me to exit the match without force closing the game. I tried to press on, but at one point the bot I fought would only back up and not do anything. I was stuck like this for 6 minutes before finally shutting the game itself down.

I just bought this to use with the Oculus Quest 2. It is working wireless with Virtual Desktop, since I couldn't wait for the Quest version. I will probably also buy it when it comes out for Quest. I spent about one hour playing VFC. I did not play any PvP yet, but wow I love this game. It is a good work out and it's a lot of fun! Hopefully the online community will grow once the game is finished. I would like the AI bots to be more challenging to fight. And hand tracking would be the ultimate addition!

First time I booted this up, it worked fine and I had fun playing it. Tried to play today and I get a message down near my feet saying "please turn on your controllers" and the icons for the controllers are the VIVE wands. Only problem is I'm on an Oculus Rift and my Touch controlers are suddenly not showing up in the game.
EDIT: I appreciate the quick response from the developer (see below). Haven't had a chance to verify that Rift controlers are working again, but I'm going to change my rating from a negative to a positive under the assumption that the issue has been fixed. Will update to provide a more in-depth review tomorrow.

Yea, so a lot of negative reviews i see around here seems to comes from two issues:
1. Cant find player to PvP
2. Some offline contents is not good enough (to dev: I suggest you to remove demos and unfinished contents from the main game, and make it a side branch for those who ask for it specifically, coz its doing you more harm than good right now)
The top negative review is about the menu screen... WTF???????
Well if you cant find play to PvP, why not join the discord (almost never fail to find an opponent here for me atleast)? In fact why would you want to post a negative comment to encourage EVEN LESS people to join the community? I thought we are trying to help VR indie devs and not sabotaging them?
I really hope this game does well, and Dev are working extremely hard on this, i've been chatting with them a lot, and they are working tirelessly for the past few years on this game. If we don't support this kind of dev with at least some goodwill (not saying you have to buy them. but at least cut some slack on the negative shits), then VR indie scene is doomed from the beginning.
This game has grown on me a lot. In the past few months during lockdown i joined the discord channel and had a lot of fun playing with the regulars, burned a lot of calories. The current tournament is a great addition to the casual PvPs which we are already having.
I'll list the Pro and Cons of this game and really hope to convey the reason why I really do support this game and hope others will too:
Pro:
1. Devs are super active, there are updates to the game on a frequent basis, and all the player feedbacks given in the discord channel has met with a dev response, and sometimes updated immediately.
2. This is the only game out here with realistic PvP fighting content, (creed is on the gimmicky side)
3. The graphics in this game is pretty good for an indie title.
4. The most important aspect imo: This game has a very solid foundation towards a very amazing experience, the method of gameplay is exactly what comes to mind when we imagined the 'Striking Viper' to be irl. I'm sure with more polishing around single-player content, matchmaking experience and UI design, this game will be a huge hit.
Con:
1. Menu navigation is a little bit of frustration, there is actually no exit button, meaning you have to exit the game through forced ways, which is fine i guess
2. No voice chat yet
3. Don't buy this game for its offline modes, they are too rough around the edges (but I came here for the PvP, not the offline content anyways, in fact, i made suggestions myself to the Devs in giving up on the offline contents and focus on PvP instead)
I rarely post reviews but been an active player of this game, I hate seeing this game and its community growth been undermined by some poorly thought-out negative reviews.

This game is a must have if you like VR fighting games
I tried some PvP, and here is my summary:
- It doesn't have any stamina system nor artificial 'out of body' experience like creed, which depends on personal preference might be good or bad, for me i liked VFC purely because the combat seems more intuitive, and bad fighting practise does get punished by the game mechanics (the weakened state)
- The attempt at bringing special abilities and variety of characters is appealing, but it does need a little more polishing and balancing..
- Hit detection even under high latency is extremely accurate and satisfying
- Damage calculation is very precision to the actual power you used in real life which was super impressive
- There are some bugs here and there particularly between rounds, but it's quite minor
- Registration process was a little confusing at first, but it became a easy process after a while.
For the Single Player:
- i really like the dev have jumped out of the box and came up with a very polished brawling experience as suppose to just a AI opponent based on the PvP mode
- This mode can actually be compared with Gorn, the graphics and hit-reaction and sound effects are very polished, and is very satisfying
- If you carry the same mentality of playing gorn when playing this mode, you'd be surprised by how quickly you will die
Now let's drop some notes on some of the negative experience i had:
- PvP matchmaking has a problem with shallow player pool
- Single-player mode is still alittle dry in content (but consider how quick the dev updates are, i'd think this won't be an issue for long)
- PvP characters ability need more tuning
- There is not much social elements, after a game i left a little unfulfilled because i wanted to interact with my opponent more, but game doesn't allow me to.

One of the best experience i had in VR yet actually, just had this very funny fight with a person (hope voice com will be added into the game soon dev) this is literally everything i thought Striking Vipers would be, its surreal. I see people say it is hard to find a match, maybe i was lucky, but i assure you its so much fun when you are actually in a game, i just hope devs will continue on this game!

The only place to PvP a VR fighting game, as far as I know.
It is /very/ Early Access.
Their discord has a fight ping and people are sparring daily.
It's worth getting at this point in support of the developers and growing the community,
but I would like to see more from the game in general. The abilities of characters are largely inherent, despite going for a Street Fighter vibe no one has a projectile attack. Also from what I can tell everyone is equalized to be the same height. It feels a bit samey which is unfortunate, I think people are drawn to fighters in part by dynamic casts.
I get the sense that they still aren't quite sure what they want the game to be. I hope they figure something out before they lose their niche. TotF2 will arrive in about 2 years, or so I hear.

came to leave a review straight out the game, it was the best experience i had since rec room (plus a intensive workout, ouch my arm hurts right now...)
definetly a recommend from me, i like that developer actively tries to reach out to all players on their plan and development roadmap, this is something that bigger studios often lack, a communicative channel.
i'll be waiting for the pending single player mode, to give a more conclusive remark, but for now its a recommend based on how well the pvp combat went for me! thumbs up to devs!

OK, YES the game is clunky and the UI and connections need work, but buy this game because of what it might be if enough people do. This was a workout like I've never had in VR and I've got 40 hours in BoxVR. The fighting was FUN. I was jumping and elbow dropping people's heads, punching people in the dick, blocking, ducking, dodging, and sucker punching. The fighting system is very well thought and tracking is above average, and I just read the devs are continuing to optimize things like elbow tracking.
Get this because of what the game will become when enough people pour money into it. You'll still enjoy it for what it is now, but yes, the cracks are showing and it needs work. However, this game will likely go the way of Virtual Boxing League if enough people don't buy into it early enough. Do the right thing and support the future of VR. Buy this game at full price.

Not single player, this is an online PVP game. The only thing you can do single player it hit a dummy for "practice" or go into some kind of stress relief match where you just beat up on a guy that just stands there. Pointless.

There are only a handful of PVP fighting games available, and this is the only one that multiplayer isn't feeling like an afterthought. More importantly, it has a community that isn't dead! Don't buy this if you want the multiplayer experience, barely anyone plays this game. The 40 minutes I spent playing was mostly waiting for people to join my lobby. And the single player was not that good for the 20 dollars you're spending. I just found myself being bored for just about the entire time I played, And the fact you have to sign in to a account to a game you just spent 20 dollars on is just stupid and annoying. They say its to track multiplayer stats or something on the lines of that, but you have to sign in a account for the game to save you single player experience. So you basically have to sign in a account to be able to experience 99% of the game, Which the 1% (Which is the multiplayer) doesn't even work. The single player combat is interesting but nothing special. The enemy has a health bar, which is protected by their stance. So to successfully damage your opponent, you must break their stance. The time I did play the game I can say I enjoyed myself a bit, but after a while of the same attack patterns, it just got boring after a small period of time. In all this is a interesting game and would be cool if the multiplayer worked but sadly it doesn't. If you want a good fighting game get Thrill Of The Fight.

Only got to try single player because of course no one wants to play this dumpster fire, but trust me it was enough to know that this thing is not worth asking price. No pause button to exit matches, no options for audio adjustment for music or in game sound, the music is god awful and cringy. Hit detection is non existent as punches will connect without touching opponent, and also not connect when you are clearly making contact. Do not believe all the hype and excitement about the punch stats and recognition of weak spots and things like that, it just doesn't work how it should. The cartoony-ness also does not help one bit. Locked to ONE fighter for single player, and every time you punch there's annoying green smoke everywhere, and a constant voice yelling "COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO!". Terrible graphics and textures, the main menu has you surrounded by a blurry ass galaxy and some jank rectangles going up and down to look "trippy". Every punch is accompanied by shitty stat reads of percentages and what type of punch, in the most ugly format ive ever seen and you have to look at that every punch. Instantly refunded after 10 minutes with this crap.

OK! This is a game i can see myself play daily, really hope it takes off.
Combat are so fun, and i'm not saying it because it's the first Boxing PvP i've played, the game mechanism are really there to simulate the combat 'feel'. You're punished for making foolish weak punches, and is rewards if you aim for the opening and land a huge swin (and the combine feel of the hit is so excellent)
I've played 2 session of this game, maybe i'm lucky, i always found some1 to play with, and had problem connecting. Latency is not that good because i played against some1 in Europe while im in Asia, but the game play didn't even feel laggy at all!
I really really do hope this game take off, i read through dev's game development roadmap, this PvP only is only the foundation for more game mode to come, there will be colosseum mode, and Co-op Dungeon crawler! it gives me chills to think about playing in those game modes with this kind of game mechanics, can't wait for early access to finish for this game.
Do yourself a favour, even with a shallow player pool and a Creed PvP waiting around in the cornor, this game is definetly a keeper for the long run!

Give this a go if you like the concept of fighting in VR, obviously this is an early access title with a lot of improvements still pending to be made, but I liked everything that already exists in the game:
What I liked:
The training modes have a lot of hidden gems like the sprint mode and the endurance mode, I can foresee myself using those modes as a daily exercise for my cardio (the sprint mode is like Sprint Vector + Real racing).
PvP is a little hard to get into, but I found myself some decent games sessions by asking for matches in their discord, the gameplay is very refreshing and gives me a lot of 'fighting game' vibes as players have special abilities and it is designed with a very creative concept in which to activate a skill, you have to perform a real combo in real life - I really like this concept and would love to see this concept be elaborated more deeply.
The only playable single-player mode besides the training mode right now is this colosseum mode which is also very interesting and different, it is like Gorn but with fists, and the robots fight back hard! (made my very sweety).
What I hope to see improved:
The backbone of the Colosseum mode is good but it's too thin at the moment and you'll find it repetitive after a while. I thirst for more 1v1 battle as PvP experience isn't that easy to come around. I hope the developer can put in a single-player mode in 1v1 settings as in Creed and The Trill of Fight.
I often find myself wanting to communicate with other players in-game, and without voice chat and/or other ways of communication, the social aspect is kind of lacking.
Verdict:
Very exciting game for VR fighting genre and I expect great things from this.

i just dont want to let this gem of a game be buried under the arguments saying that it is incomplete (it's early access for a reason)

pleasantly surprised by the speed of development update the dev is giving out, the new single-player mode reminds me alot of Gorn, but its way harder and provdes more of a chanllenge, and the thrill and fun of killing all those ragdolls is also executed verywell, however i would like to see some kind of leaderboard and background queue for PvP to be added

Originally I recommended thinking it had a good trajectory. Turns out I don't know much about trigonometry.
Development for this game is slower than glacial. At this point there are no public matches and it would probably be best if you look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the main menu. Attempting to load into the single player modes would cause me to disappear into a black void for all eternity, essentially an infinite loading screen. Looked really cool and the VFC Academy looked like it would make for a decent workout companion, but I didn't get to see it out for myself since it wouldn't load.
